Office move: frequently asked questions

Office move FAQ
Office move: the key answers up front
Questions and answers
Before an office move, almost the same questions always come up: how long will it take, what will it cost, can the move happen at the weekend, and who is liable if something breaks? On this page you will find the twelve most common questions with short answers. Anything that cannot be answered across the board, we at Beste Umzug Unternehmen clarify during a survey of your premises – looking at workstations, equipment, floors and access.
A few answers up front: a small office can often be moved in a day. You receive the price after the survey as a fixed price. We are liable for goods under the German Commercial Code (HGB), limited to €620 per cubic metre. And you notify the trade office (Gewerbeamt) of the relocation of a commercial business (§ 14 GewO). More about our services can be found under company moves, and places with their own pages under our locations.

Four answers in brief
The essentials up front
Most questions about an office move revolve around duration, costs, date and liability. In short: the duration depends on workstations and equipment, the price is fixed after the survey, moves in the evening or at the weekend are possible, and liability is governed by the German Commercial Code (HGB). Besides office moves, we also handle private moves and long-distance moves – organised from Berlin (Stromstraße 21).

Is a shared load worthwhile for small offices?
A common question from small offices: can it be done without a dedicated lorry? With a shared load, your furniture and boxes travel on a vehicle that is heading your way anyway. This is often cheaper, but the delivery day is less fixed than with your own lorry.

From
planning to assembly
Besides the twelve questions below, detailed questions often come up during an office move: may the lorry stop in front of the building? Who reserves the goods lift? What happens to furniture that has no room in the new office? On request we submit the application for the parking restriction zone (Halteverbotszone), you reserve the lift with the property management, furniture can be put into storage, and anything that is no longer needed should be sold, donated or disposed of before the move.

Office move: 12 questions and answers
Process of a professional office move
The office move begins with a free on-site survey, at which we record the scope, special features and dates. We then draw up a detailed moving plan including a labelling system for boxes and furniture, so that everything ends up in the right place at the new site.
On moving day our team takes care of proper dismantling, safe transport and assembly on site – often outside regular business hours. This is how we ensure a seamless transition with minimal downtime for your company.
Costs and benefits of an office move at a fixed price
The costs of an office move depend on the number of employees, the amount of furniture and the distance. With our fixed price model you get full cost transparency from the start, with no nasty surprises at the end.
The biggest benefit lies in professional organisation: less downtime, protected equipment and a smooth restart at the new site. We are also liable for your goods under the German Commercial Code (§ 451e HGB).

Calculating the moving price: these criteria count
The price calculation is always based on volume and distance – the latter from €4.25/km. Then there are structural factors such as the floor without a lift and a possible parking restriction zone. Furniture assembly and a shared load can also be added.
