An Office Move: What to Look Out For

What to look out for
Before commissioning: check the quote, scope and liability
What to look out for
Before you commission an office move, it pays to take a close look at the quote. An office move can only be calculated reliably after a survey, because workstations, furniture, equipment, floors, lift and access determine the effort. Check whether the quote lists the scope of services item by item – dismantling and assembly, packing, parking restriction zone, disposal – and whether it is a fixed price or hourly rates. At Beste Umzug Unternehmen you receive a written fixed price after the survey.
Liability is just as important: the moving company is liable for goods under the German Commercial Code (HGB), limited to €620 per cubic metre of loading space (§ 451e HGB). For expensive equipment, additional insurance may therefore be worthwhile. Besides office moves, we handle private moves and long-distance moves, planned from Berlin (Stromstraße 21); places with their own pages can be found under Locations.

Comparing quotes? Arrange a survey
A written fixed price
Call us on 01625978461 or enquire online. After the survey you receive a quote for your office move that lists the agreed services and a binding fixed price – so you can compare it properly with other quotes.
Quotes available individually based on workload, scheduling and the desired scope of services.

What a good quote contains
Four points to check
A quote for an office move should answer four questions: what exactly will be done, at what price, when, and who is liable for what? With us, the scope of services, date and fixed price are set out in writing after the survey. Statutory liability under the German Commercial Code (HGB) applies to every moving company – but ask about the estimated volume, because the upper limit depends on it. More on the scope of services under company moves; places with their own pages under Locations.

Our services at a glance
For a sensitive office move, it is worth clarifying a few points before signing. The following six help you compare several quotes and avoid disputes if something is missing or damaged after the move.

Date or time window
Files and data protection

Check for damage immediately
Restoring the old premises
Small office: compare a shared load in the quote
For a small office, a comparison with a shared load is worthwhile: your furniture travels on a lorry that is heading your way anyway. Check in the quote which time window applies for collection and delivery and whether assembly is included.

From
planning to assembly
Also look out for services around the office move that are easily missing from the quote: storing furniture that has no room in the new office yet, disposing of old fittings or restoring the old premises. If the business is moving to another city, a long-distance move with driving time and a parking restriction at the destination belongs in the quote; if employees are moving privately too, their private move can be requested separately.

Questions before commissioning
Process of a professional office move
A well-organised office move begins with a detailed on-site survey, at which we record the volume of goods, sensitive IT infrastructure and special requirements. We then draw up a detailed schedule, which can also include weekend or night-time dates so that your business operations are barely affected.
On moving day, our staff handle the dismantling, transport and reassembly of all furniture and devices, including the proper securing of server and IT systems. After reassembly we check together with you that everything is complete and working, so that you can carry on working straight away.
Costs and tips for your office move
The costs of an office move depend on factors such as distance, square metreage, number of workstations and special requirements such as an IT relocation or file storage. With our transparent fixed-price model, you know exactly from the start what costs come your way – entirely without nasty surprises.
An important tip: plan the move early, label cables and devices unambiguously and inform staff about the process in good time. That way you minimise downtime and ensure a smooth start at the new site.
Price transparency with your moving company
Transparent prices with no hidden costs – that is our promise. For a 1-room flat you pay from €349, for 2 rooms from €615. A 3-room flat costs from €899, a 4-room flat from €1,329. For houses and villas, we always prepare a personal quote because of the individual requirements. If you are moving further, long-distance moves cost from €4.15 per kilometre. It is best to arrange a free survey to find out your individual price.
What you should know about moving costs
The price depends primarily on the volume and the distance (from €4.15/km). But the floor and lift, as well as a necessary parking restriction zone, also have an effect. If you need additional furniture assembly or a shared load, you should say so in advance.

What to look out for when moving to another city?
For a long-distance move of the office, the quote should state the driving time, loading order and the parking restriction at the destination. We plan such moves from Berlin (Stromstraße 21). Find out more under long-distance moves and in the locations overview.
