Planning a Clearance: Step by Step

Moving company Berlin
Planning a clearance: six steps to an empty flat
Step by step
A clearance works best with a plan that is in place before the first box. Step one is taking stock: which rooms are included – the cellar, loft, garage or garden shed too? Step two is sorting into four groups: keep, sell, give away, dispose of. Step three clarifies the disposal routes, because in Berlin bulky waste, electrical appliances and hazardous substances go separate ways. Only after that is it worth getting quotes.
Step four is the survey: we look at the quantity, floor, access and special cases and give you a fixed price. Step five sets the date – with an eye on the handover, the notice period and the parking space for the lorry; the signs for a parking restriction zone (Halteverbotszone) must be up at least 72 hours in advance. Step six is clearance day, with a broom-clean handover on request. If you are moving at the same time, we plan the private move along with it.

Step four: arrange a survey
Free and without obligation
Have you sorted everything and know what needs to go? Call us on 01625978461. We survey the property and prepare a fixed-price quote for your clearance; short-notice dates are possible depending on our workload.
Quotes available individually based on workload, scheduling and the desired scope of services.

The plan in six steps
From the list to the handover
In brief: 1. Record rooms and quantities, including side rooms. 2. Divide everything into keep, sell, give away and dispose of. 3. Clarify disposal routes – bulky waste, electrical appliances and hazardous substances separately. 4. Survey and fixed price. 5. Set the date with an eye on the handover and parking restriction. 6. Clearance and handover. We take care of steps four to six, and help with tips for the first three. We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21), see locations.

How we support your planning
A good plan often fails on details: the missing cellar key, the wardrobe that will not fit through the stairwell. We clarify such points before the clearance.
All rooms covered
Nothing mixed up

What stays can travel along
There is a low-cost option for the "keep" pile: if individual pieces of furniture are to go to another place later, they can travel as a shared load on a lorry that is heading there anyway. It is best to plan this in straight away at step four.

Moving
& transport from a single source
A clearance is often connected with a private move or a household clearance after a death. Before a long-distance move, too, it pays to start planning early, because every item sorted out saves cargo space. For the side rooms, which often take the longest, there is a separate guide: clearing the cellar and loft. If you do step one thoroughly, you will have fewer surprises on clearance day.

Planning a clearance: frequently asked questions
Step 1: stocktaking and planning
The first step in any clearance is a thorough inventory. This involves checking which items are to be kept, sold, donated or disposed of. Clear planning helps to assess the process realistically and avoid unnecessary delays.
We recommend getting an overview of the condition of the property early on and taking any particular features into account, such as narrow stairwells or missing lifts. That way the appointment can be prepared in the best possible way.
Step 2: execution and disposal
On the day of the clearance, our team takes over the complete clearing out, sorting and professional removal. We work in a structured way according to prior arrangement, so everything proceeds smoothly and swiftly.
Afterwards we take care of the environmentally sound disposal and the recycling of the materials. On request we hand over the premises swept clean, so you or your successor tenants can move in immediately.
Your move – these costs await you
Whether a small 1-room flat from €359 or a spacious 4-room flat from €1,324 – the costs depend on the scope of your move. A 2-room flat costs from €579, a 3-room flat from €915. For houses and villas we prepare an individual quote, and for long-distance moves we charge from €3.80/km. The quickest way to find out your personal price is a free survey.
Calculating the moving price: these factors count
The price is determined by the volume, the distance (from €3.80/km) and the number of floors. An available lift reduces the effort, while a parking restriction zone increases it. A shared load also affects the final amount.
