Moving to Radom: costs process, districts

Living in Radom
Radom for newcomers: districts, work and formalities
Masovia's number two
With around 196,000 residents (2024), Radom is the second-largest city in the Masovian Voivodeship and lies about 100 kilometres south of Warsaw. Many people choose a move to Radom because rents are lower than in the capital and the Warsaw–Kraków railway line runs through the city. Radom is known for the ‘Łucznik’ arms factory, which has been producing since 1922, for precision engineering and mechanical engineering, and for the Air Show at Warsaw-Radom Airport. If you are moving here, you should plan your flat, paperwork and moving day early.
We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and handle your long-distance move to Poland from packing to furniture assembly in Radom. We quote our offer for your private move after the survey as a fixed price, tolls and driving time included. We are liable for your belongings under the German Commercial Code (HGB), and additional insurance is available for valuable items. Because Poland is part of the EU, there is no customs duty; what matters are the registration office, the vehicle registration office and e-TOLL for the lorry. You can find further destinations under Locations.

Before the date we check with the city's citizens' office where the lorry may stop, and we plan in the e-TOLL toll. We quote the price after the survey as a fixed price; we are liable for furniture and boxes under the HGB. Frequently asked questions about moving to Radom
Radom's districts at a glance
Śródmieście, Radom's historic centre, impresses with old-building flats, pedestrian zones and short distances to offices and shops – ideal for working people without a car. If you prefer things quieter, you will find plenty of green space, good schools and family-friendly housing complexes in Ustronie and Michałów. The Gołębiów district is one of the most populous and offers a wide range of prefab-block flats at moderate prices.
For young professionals and students at the University of Radom (formerly the University of Technology and Humanities), Planty and Obozisko are worth a look, as they are close to the centre and easy to reach by bus. If you are looking for peace and proximity to nature, you will find it in the Malczew district near the Borki woodland, which offers ideal opportunities for recreation.
Rents and the housing market in Radom
Compared with Warsaw, rents in Radom are lower; you can find current offers on Polish property portals. New-build flats in Ustronie and in the centre are particularly sought after, while cheaper existing flats are often available in Gołębiów and Obozisko. Radom is also below the Warsaw level when it comes to buying.
Because many commuters and skilled workers from mechanical engineering and the defence industry live in the city, you should look for a suitable flat early. Our team is happy to advise you on which district suits your budget and lifestyle before we plan your private move to Radom.

How the price for Radom is made up
The price calculation is based on the volume of your belongings. Then there is the distance, which we charge from €4.25/km, plus the Polish e-TOLL toll for the lorry. The floor and lift in your new housing block also count. Instead of a German parking restriction zone (Halteverbotszone), in Radom we clarify with the city where the van may stop. If you would also like furniture assembly or a part load, we include that in the calculation.

From Berlin to Poland and across Germany
We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and carry out moves across Germany and abroad, including to Poland and the Masovian Voivodeship. You can find destinations with their own page in the locations overview, and long routes under Long-distance moves.
Parking zone and traffic organisation when moving in Radom
If you want to park a lorry in Radom on moving day, you should clarify two things: the managed parking zone and the city's traffic organisation. For paid parking (Strefa Płatnego Parkowania Niestrzeżonego), the information portal bip.radom.pl publishes a city council resolution that defines the zone and the level of the fees. Please take the amounts from this resolution; we deliberately do not state them here.
Under ‘Załatw sprawę’ (getting things done), the portal also lists the item Zarządzanie ruchem (traffic management). Whether an application for a reserved space or an access permit on moving day is provided for there is not stated on the overview page, nor are deadlines or fees. So contact the citizens' office early:
- Address: Urząd Miejski w Radomiu, ul. Jana Kilińskiego 30, 26-600 Radom
- Biuro Obsługi Mieszkańca: Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm
- Telephone: (+48) 48 362 04 19 or 362 04 24
Ask there which department is responsible for your street and how long processing takes. For registration, the portal lists the item ‘Meldunki, ewidencja ludności, dowody osobiste’. According to europa.eu, registration can only be required of EU citizens after three months.
We plan the journey from Berlin together with you; general advice on moves abroad can be found under International move. How we approach routes to Poland is also shown in the guide to moving to Warsaw.
Bulky waste, vehicle and e-TOLL: practical tips for moving to Radom
Bulky waste: According to radom.pl, the city collects bulky waste via ‘Wystawka’, i.e. put out for collection. For detached houses collection takes place once a quarter, for blocks of flats every two weeks at the waste collection point; put the items out no more than one day beforehand. Alternatively, the PSZOK at ul. W. Witosa 96 (operated by RADKOM) accepts furniture and other bulky household waste: Monday to Friday 10 am to 6 pm, Saturday 8 am to 4 pm. According to the page, for drop-off it accepts any quantity, including construction and demolition waste from households; it does not accept waste from commercial activity or roofing felt.
Vehicle: According to gov.pl, the deadline for registration is 30 days; the responsible office is the vehicle registration office (Wydział Komunikacji) at the starost's office. For a car brought in from abroad, the page lists, among other things, proof of ownership, a certificate of conformity, the previous number plates and certified translations of foreign-language documents. According to the page, the registration certificate including stickers costs 66.50 zł. The deadline may change, so confirm it at the office.
Tolls: According to etoll.gov.pl, the e-TOLL system applies to heavy lorries on GDDKiA toll sections; the page does not state a weight and links to a classification tool. We check the vehicle class before the journey.
