Moving to Neunkirchen (Saar): Costs & Process

Neunkirchen guide
Neunkirchen: from ironworks town to a place to live on the Blies
Areas, offices, daily life
Anyone planning a move to Neunkirchen is moving to the second-largest town in Saarland, with around 47,000 inhabitants. For almost 400 years the Neunkirchen ironworks shaped the town on the Blies; it was shut down in 1982, and parts of the site are now the Altes Hüttenareal with the Neue Gebläsehalle. Saarbrücken and Kaiserslautern are easy to reach via the A6 and A8. With Beste Umzug Unternehmen you plan your change of home at a fixed price after a survey.
Whether you are moving to Neunkirchen from Saarbrücken, Kaiserslautern or Berlin – we are based in Berlin and operate nationwide; from there it is around 705 km. For a private move, we plan the vehicle size, team and date after the survey. For a long-distance move, too, we take care of the logistics, from the parking restriction zone to furniture assembly. The route is described on our page Long-distance move Berlin – Neunkirchen.

What we clarify before moving day in Neunkirchen
Access, hillside location, no-parking zone
Neunkirchen lies in the Blies valley, and some districts such as Kohlhof and Hangard are on higher ground. Before the move, we therefore clarify access, the carrying route and whether a no-parking zone is needed. Your belongings are covered by liability under the HGB (€620 per m³), and additional insurance is available on request. With a dedicated contact person and a fixed price after a survey, you know in advance what the move will cost. For your private move, we provide packing materials and movers.

Neunkirchen
for newcomers
A move to Neunkirchen raises a few questions typical of the town: parking around Stummplatz and the town centre, differences in height in districts such as Kohlhof and Hangard, registration and bulky waste. We take care of the parking restriction zone and the furniture transport, including to buildings without a lift. If you are coming from another federal state, use our service for long-distance moves with fixed scheduling.

Frequently asked questions about living in Neunkirchen
The ten districts of Neunkirchen
Neunkirchen is divided into ten districts: the town centre, Furpach, Hangard, Heinitz, Kohlhof, Ludwigsthal, Münchwies, Sinnerthal, Wellesweiler and Wiebelskirchen. The town centre around Stummplatz offers shops, the Saarpark-Center on the former ironworks site and the main station.
Wiebelskirchen and Wellesweiler have their own railway stops, and Furpach lies on the A8. Kohlhof and Hangard are higher up above the Blies valley, while Münchwies and Ludwigsthal are more village-like. We plan the vehicle and team to suit the access and then take care of the complete private move.
Work, hospitals and leisure in Neunkirchen
Since the end of the ironworks in 1982, Neunkirchen has changed; Saarstahl is still present as a company in the town, along with retail and healthcare. There are three hospitals: the Diakonie Klinikum Neunkirchen, the Fliedner-Krankenhaus and the Marienhausklinik St. Josef Kohlhof. For their studies, many commute to Saarbrücken to Saarland University or the htw saar.
For leisure there is the Zoo Neunkirchen (since 1926, around 20 hectares, with a focus on Asia), the Altes Hüttenareal with the Neue Gebläsehalle and paths along the Blies. The main station connects the town with Saarbrücken, Homburg and towards the Nahe valley; the A6 and A8 lead into the surrounding area. We do not give specific rents, as we have no reliable current source.

What the price in Neunkirchen depends on
The price of your move depends on several factors: the volume of your belongings, the distance (from €3.95/km), and the floor and lift at your home. A parking restriction zone can also affect the calculation. Additional services such as furniture assembly or a part load also affect the final amount.

No-parking zone for your move in Neunkirchen (Saar): who decides and what to prepare
Especially in the centre of Neunkirchen (Saar), a free space in front of the door determines how long unloading takes. A no-parking zone for the removal van is a traffic law measure, and it is ordered not by the removal company but by the road traffic authority. Under § 45 of the Road Traffic Regulations (StVO), the road traffic authorities can restrict the use of certain roads; they also determine which traffic signs are put up and may only regulate traffic by means of traffic signs.
For your planning, this means:
- Contact the district town of Neunkirchen in good time and ask which office is responsible for your street. According to the town's home page, the switchboard can be reached on 06821 2020 or by email at [email protected] (neunkirchen.de).
- Have the street and house number, moving date, required length of the no-parking zone and the start time ready. Ask the town about the application procedure, lead time and fee, as these details are set by the local authority.
- Think of both addresses: the lorry also needs a place to stop at your departure address in Berlin.
- Do not put up your own signs before the authority has decided which traffic signs will be ordered.
A detailed step-by-step explanation can be found in our guide to the parking restriction zone. On our location page Neunkirchen in Saarland you can see how we plan moves to the region.
Neunkirchen (Saar): re-registration, bulky waste and recycling centre after moving in
After moving in to Neunkirchen (Saar), the same deadline applies as everywhere in Germany: anyone moving into a home must, under § 17 BMG (Federal Registration Act), register with the registration authority within two weeks of moving in. Under § 19 BMG, your landlord is obliged to cooperate with the registration and confirm the move. Anyone who fails to register, registers incorrectly or registers late commits an administrative offence under § 54 BMG; the fine can be up to 1,000 euros.
Unpacking often produces bulky waste. On its bulky waste page, the Entsorgungsverband Saar (EVS) writes that in Neunkirchen, Saarlouis and Homburg the respective municipal vehicle fleet is responsible for collection; in most other municipalities the EVS takes the bookings. So in Neunkirchen you need to ask the town how to book a collection.
You can take bulky waste yourself to the EVS recycling centres: the EVS states 2 euros per started cubic metre and a maximum of 2 cubic metres per day. According to the EVS, the Neunkirchen recycling centre is at Grubenstraße 4 in Neunkirchen-Heinitz. It only accepts separately collected waste in normal household quantities and exclusively from private deliveries; commercially collected bulky waste is not accepted. Tips on sorting things out before the move can be found in our article Disposing of bulky waste correctly.
