Namur guide
Moving to Namur: citadel, university and seat of government
Guide
A move to Namur takes you to the capital of the Walloon Region and of the province of the same name: around 114,000 almost exclusively French-speaking people live where the Sambre flows into the Meuse, about 65 km south-east of Brussels. The citadel stands above the city, and Jambes lies on the south bank of the Meuse. We plan access, parking space and carrying routes before moving day.
Whether it is a flat in the city centre or a house in Jambes: we come from Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and drive around 746 km via Aachen and Liège. Within the EU there are no customs formalities for household goods. We give you the fixed price after the survey; details on long routes can be found under Long-distance moves, further destinations under Locations.

Your quote for Namur – after a survey
See first, then calculate
How much your move to Namur costs depends on volume, floor, access and the route of around 746 km. We look at your household goods – at your home in Berlin or by video – and then give you a written fixed price, whether the destination is in the city centre or in Jambes.
Offers available individually, depending on effort, scheduling and the scope of services required.

Our part in your move to Namur
From Moabit to Namur
We have no branch in Namur; instead we come by lorry from Berlin-Moabit (Stromstraße 21). That is why we ask about access, floor and staircase in advance – whether it is a flat in the city centre or a house in Jambes. In Namur, reserved parking spaces for moves are allocated by the Domaine public & sécurité department; the city's website does not state amounts or deadlines, so we apply early together with you. We are liable for your household goods under § 451e HGB at €620 per cubic metre, and additional insurance is available. Places with their own pages can be found under Locations.

What we do for you
After the survey you receive a fixed price for Namur in which the journey (around 746 km), packing, the parking space reservation and assembly are listed individually – so you can see what you are paying for.
Date confirmed
Access sorted
Parking space secured
Deadlines in view
Storage to bridge a gap
Assembled on arrival day
Part load – the clever solution
A part load (Beiladung) is worthwhile if only a little needs to go to Namur: your items use free load space on a tour heading that way. You pay less than for a lorry of your own but need to be flexible about the delivery day. Well packed, even single items travel safely.

Moving
& transport from one provider
A move to Namur raises its own questions: where do you reserve the parking space for the removal van, is the lorry allowed into the camera-monitored pedestrian zones, and how does the residence declaration at the Espace Citoyens work? This guide introduces the city centre between the Sambre and Meuse and Jambes on the south bank, and explains costs, the route from Berlin and the formalities.

Common questions about moving to Namur
City centre, Jambes and incorporated villages
Namur lies at the confluence of the Sambre and the Meuse. Historically, the town centre developed only on the north bank of the Meuse, because the south bank was under the Bishop of Liège; the village of Jambes grew up there. Above the city rises the citadel, the only part of the fortifications that was not demolished after 1866.
In a territorial reform in 1977, numerous surrounding municipalities were added, including Marche-les-Dames, around 8 km upstream on the Meuse. For the move this means: in the city centre, pedestrian zones and parking zones count; in Jambes and the outer villages it is more about access and carrying routes. Our private move service adapts to this.
Seat of government and university city: living in Namur
Since 11 December 1986, Namur has been the capital and administrative seat of the Walloon Region; the Walloon government sits in the Élysette. The city is also the capital of the province of Namur, a bishop's see and a university city with the University of Namur. We do not quote specific rents – they depend heavily on location and condition.
After moving in, according to the Federal Interior Ministry, you declare your residence in Belgium within eight working days; in Namur, the Population – État civil department in the Espace Citoyens is responsible, and appointments are available online at namur.be/rdv. The official language is French.

Namur: change of address with the city and appointments
Anyone moving to Namur reports their new address to the city administration. According to the City of Namur, the responsible unit is "Changements d'adresses" in the Population – État civil service at the Espace Citoyens. According to the city, appointments can be booked online at any time at namur.be/rdv. Some counters, including the residents' department, receive visitors on Saturday mornings by appointment only; the city allocates these by phone on +32 81 24 60 00 (Monday to Friday, 8 am to 12 noon). In addition, there is the e-Guichet for online procedures, which the city offers around the clock, seven days a week.
Note the closing days: the administration is closed on Monday 2 November and on Wednesday 11 November 2026. Arrange appointments and the key handover accordingly.
The city's website does not give a general list of which documents and deadlines apply in your case. So ask the Population service in advance ([email protected], +32 81 24 62 46). As an EU citizen, also note: according to the EU portal Your Europe, registration with the local authority may be required after the first three months in another EU country, and the rules differ from country to country. A valid ID card or passport is the basis for this.
More about everyday life after moving in can be found in our guide Living in Namur.
Moving day in Namur: reserved parking space, parking zones and the pedestrian zone
In Namur you need a place where the removal van is allowed to stop. For this, the city names the "Domaine public et sécurité" unit. It handles applications for the use of public space, for example for skips, barriers or scaffolding, and applications for reserved parking spaces for moves. The charges are based on the municipal regulation of 9 December 2025 on the use of public space; the city's website does not state amounts or a processing time. Contact: +32 81 24 72 26, [email protected]; in the morning from 8 am to 12 noon with or without an appointment, in the afternoon (1:30 pm to 4:00 pm) by appointment only.
On the parking situation: according to the City of Namur, there are 5,769 managed on-street parking spaces in the red, green, mauve (purple) and blue zones. The city operates 21 ANPR cameras to control access to the pedestrian zones and on the Boulevard Mélot (C3). The page does not state access times or exemptions for removal vehicles. So clarify this in writing with the city before the lorry drives into the city centre. Residents' permits ("cartes riverain") are managed by the parking management office ([email protected], +32 81 24 65 82).
How a move across the border is organised is explained in the long-distance moving guide Berlin – Namur and in the overview Long-distance move to Belgium.
