Long-Distance Move Berlin – Namur: Route Process & Schedule

From Berlin to Namur
Long-distance move to Namur – 746 km to the capital of Wallonia
Guide
A move to Namur takes you to the capital of the Walloon Region, where the Sambre flows into the Meuse, around 65 km south-east of Brussels. Because Belgium is part of the EU, there are no customs formalities for your household goods. More important are the reserved parking space for the removal van, the camera-controlled pedestrian zones and the residence declaration with the city. What we take on for private moves is described under Private move.
We come from Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and drive around 746 km via the A2, A1 and A4 to Aachen and in Belgium on the E40 and E42. By lorry that is about 11.5 hours including breaks – more than one day's driving time, so we plan two to three days with an overnight stop or two drivers. We give you the fixed price after the survey. Enquiries on 01625978461.

Survey, fixed price, fixed date
We calculate your move to Namur by moving volume, floor, access and the roughly 746 km from Berlin – not by hourly rate. After the survey or a video appointment we give you a fixed price, which is set down in writing – whether your new address is in the city centre or in Jambes.
Offers available individually, depending on effort, scheduling and the scope of services required.

What we take on for your move to Namur
Planned from Berlin, arriving in Namur
We have no branch in Namur; instead we come by lorry from Berlin-Moabit (Stromstraße 21). That is why we ask about access, floor and staircase in advance – whether it is a flat in the city centre or a house in Jambes. In Namur, reserved parking spaces for moves are allocated by the Domaine public & sécurité department in the town hall; the city does not state a lead time, so we apply early together with you. We are liable for your household goods under § 451e HGB at €620 per cubic metre, and additional insurance is available. Places with their own pages can be found under Locations.

How we support you
We give you the fixed price for your move to Namur after the survey – with packing, transport, the parking space reservation and assembly as separate items. The route of around 746 km from Berlin-Moabit is included.
Arrival time set
Floor and lift checked
Parking space reservation planned
Planned backwards
Interim storage possible
Settle in, not unpack
Part load for small amounts
For smaller moving volumes or single items, a part load (Beiladung) to Namur can be cheaper: your household goods share the load space with other consignments on the same route. In return you need some leeway on the delivery day – practical if only a few items are following on or a room in a shared flat is moving.

Your
move – fully organised
A long-distance move to Namur has its own steps: deregistration in Berlin, reserving the parking space with the city, access to the camera-controlled pedestrian zones, Viapass for the lorry and the residence declaration within eight working days. On top of that come around 746 km of road via Liège. This guide puts the steps in order – more about the city can be found in the Namur guide.

Common questions
No customs, but deadlines: formalities when moving to Belgium
Belgium is an EU member, so your household goods do not have to be declared at customs. What matters are the registration obligations: in Berlin you deregister if you are not moving into a new home in Germany – within two weeks of moving out (§ 17 (2) BMG). In Belgium, according to the Federal Interior Ministry, you declare your residence with the municipality within eight working days of actually moving in; if the whole household is moving, the reference person makes the declaration.
In Namur, the Population – État civil department in the town hall's Espace Citoyens is responsible; appointments are available online at namur.be/rdv. Under EU law you do not need a residence document for the first three months; your EU driving licence remains valid. A car that is used permanently in Belgium must be registered there.
Route, driving time and arrival on the Sambre and Meuse
The route runs via the A2 into the Ruhr area, via the A1 and A4 to Aachen and in Belgium on the E40 to Liège and on via the E42 to Namur. With around 746 km and about 11.5 hours of driving time including breaks, we plan two to three days with loading and unloading. For lorries over 3.5 tonnes, Viapass levies a kilometre charge in Wallonia on the roads managed by SOFICO.
Namur is almost exclusively French-speaking; the citadel stands above the city. According to the city, the pedestrian zones are monitored by cameras; the city's website does not state access times for removal vehicles – we clarify this in writing with the city before the lorry drives into the city centre.

Namur: parking for the removal van and the pedestrian zone
For moves in Namur, the city's Domaine public & sécurité department is responsible. According to the city, it handles, among other things, the "reservation of parking spaces for moves". You can reach it at the Hôtel de Ville, 5000 Namur, on +32 81 24 72 26 or by e-mail ([email protected]). It is open Monday to Friday from 8.00 am to 12 noon and from 1.30 pm to 4.00 pm; in the morning you can visit with or without an appointment, in the afternoon only with an appointment.
The page does not state a lead time, and the amounts are not listed there: it refers to the municipal regulation of 9 December 2025 on fees for the use of public space. So ask the department directly about the deadline before you fix the moving date. The city provides information on zones and parking permits at [email protected] or +32 81 24 65 82.
The city centre has a pedestrian zone system: according to the City of Namur, 21 number plate readers monitor access to the pedestrian zone and the Boulevard Mélot. So plan the approach of a lorry with the city. For the lorry itself, the Viapass kilometre charge applies in Belgium, which according to the operator is levied on vehicles over 3.5 tonnes used for goods transport, including on the roads in Wallonia managed by SOFICO. Further information about the route can be found in the guide Long-distance move to Belgium.
Namur: residence declaration and appointment at the Population department
In Belgium you have to declare your residence with the municipality. According to the Federal Interior Ministry, the declaration must be made within eight working days of actually moving in, at the municipality of your new place of residence. If the entire household is moving, only the household's reference person may make the declaration.
In Namur, the Population – Etat civil department in the "Espace Citoyens" in the Hôtel de Ville is responsible, specifically the unit for changes of address. You can book an appointment online around the clock at namur.be/rdv or by phone on +32 81 24 60 00 (Monday to Friday, 8 am to 12 noon). For some counters, including Population, the city also offers appointments on Saturday mornings. Questions about your address can be sent to [email protected] or +32 81 24 62 46; some procedures can be completed online via the city's e-Guichet (namur.e-guichet.be).
If you live in the city, you can apply for residents', doctors' and care service parking permits via the parking management office. According to the city, it manages 5,769 kerbside parking spaces, of which 3,775 are in the blue zone and 1,830 in the red zone. The city's information pages are in French.
