From Berlin to Ludwigsburg
Moving to Ludwigsburg: residence town on the Neckar
Guide
Ludwigsburg lies about twelve kilometres north of Stuttgart city centre and is the district town and largest town of the district of the same name. Unlike most towns, it did not grow organically but was planned on the drawing board at the beginning of the 18th century around the Residential Palace; the palace, gardens and avenues still shape the townscape today. In addition to the core town there are seven districts, including Hoheneck, Neckarweihingen and Poppenweiler on the Neckar. For your home move we clarify access and floor in advance – in the town centre a parking ban is almost always necessary.
We come from Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and drive around 615 km by lorry via the A9, the A6 and the A81 to Ludwigsburg; including a break that is about nine hours. For larger flats we therefore usually load the day before. According to the town, you or we apply for the parking ban at least 14 days in advance, and the signs must be up four working days before the move. Kitchen assembly or storage can be booked on request. More about the route under Moving Berlin – Ludwigsburg.

What we take care of when you move to Ludwigsburg
Planning in Moabit, arrival in the Baroque town
We have no branch in Ludwigsburg and no locations in the Stuttgart area; we come by lorry from Berlin-Moabit. That is why we clarify access, floor and stairwell precisely in advance – whether in the town centre around the palace and market square, in Eglosheim, Oßweil, Grünbühl-Sonnenberg or Poppenweiler. We plan the parking ban according to the town's deadlines with at least 14 days' notice. We pack, carry, transport and reassemble; we give you the fixed price after the survey. You will find places with their own pages under Locations.

Well planned to Ludwigsburg
The costs of moving to Ludwigsburg depend on the size of the flat, the floor, access and the services you choose. The guide prices further down give you an indication; the binding figure is the fixed price after the survey.
Access sorted
Arrival time set
Planned backwards
Parking zone in good time
Registration in view
Storage to bridge a gap
Part load for small amounts
A part load to Ludwigsburg bundles several small jobs in one lorry travelling via the A9, the A6 and the A81 to Württemberg. This lowers the cost per cubic metre but requires flexibility on the delivery day – often the cheapest solution for single pieces of furniture.

Your
move – fully organised
This guide covers what needs clarifying before a move to Ludwigsburg: which districts there are, how to apply for the parking ban in time, how registration at the Bürgerbüro works by appointment or online, and how long the journey from Berlin takes. The information on the parking ban and the Bürgerbüro comes from the town of Ludwigsburg. For long distances, read more under Long-distance moves, and for changing flats see our home move.

Frequently asked questions about moving to Ludwigsburg
Core town and seven districts: Ludwigsburg at a glance
The town consists of the core town – divided into Mitte, West, Nord, Ost and Süd – and seven further districts: Pflugfelden, Eglosheim, Hoheneck, Oßweil, Grünbühl-Sonnenberg, Neckarweihingen and Poppenweiler. Hoheneck, Neckarweihingen and Poppenweiler lie on the Neckar, the last two on the right bank. The town centre around the Residential Palace and market square was planned in the Baroque style, with wide streets but many older buildings without lifts. For a move the areas differ mainly in floor, access and parking pressure: in the town centre you almost always need a parking ban, while in the districts on the Neckar it depends on street width and slopes. Which area suits you depends on your commute, school and budget; for the transport we clarify the details before the quote.
Housing, work and universities in Ludwigsburg
Ludwigsburg is part of the Stuttgart region, and the housing market is considered tight. We do not give specific prices per square metre because they depend heavily on location and condition; the rent index (Mietspiegel) provides comparative values. The town is home to the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, the University of Education, the University of Public Administration and Finance, the Protestant University of Applied Sciences and the Academy of Performing Arts. It is known for the Residential Palace and the Blühendes Barock gardens. You can reach Stuttgart by S-Bahn and regional trains; it is best to check your commute before choosing a flat. Giving notice in Berlin, the parking ban with 14 days' notice and registration are best planned backwards from moving-in day. If the new flat is not yet free, we store your furniture in Berlin. If the scope does not change, the price stays as stated in the quote.
Understanding moving costs at a glance
How much does my move cost? We are happy to answer that question: we move 1-room flats from €375, 2-room flats from €609, 3-room flats from €909 and 4-room flats from €1,299. For houses and villas the price depends heavily on the individual circumstances, which is why we prepare an individual quote here. Long-distance moves are no problem either – for these we charge from €3.80 per kilometre. The easiest way to clarify all the details is a free survey.
Moving price: the decisive levers
Larger flats mean more volume and therefore higher costs. The distance is charged from €3.80/km, with floor and lift as further variables. Additional services such as furniture assembly or a part load round off the offer.

Moving to Ludwigsburg: Bürgerbüro, registration and landlord confirmation
The town of Ludwigsburg processes residence registrations at the Bürgerbüro Innenstadt at Wilhelmstraße 9; there is a branch office in Poppenweiler at Kelterplatz 10. According to the town, visits are only possible by appointment, which you can book or cancel online via the appointment portal. Registering your main residence is also possible online via wohnsitzanmeldung.gov.de. For some online applications you need an account with Service-BW.de and the AusweisApp2.
The town offers different forms depending on your situation:
- Moving in from elsewhere: the town's PDF form for registration when moving in.
- Moving within Ludwigsburg: the "Wohnsitz ummelden" form assistant.
- Change of main residence: a separate form assistant.
- Landlord confirmation (Wohnungsgeberbescheinigung): the moving-in date is confirmed by the landlord, and there is a PDF form for this too.
According to the town, you send in the documents fully completed, signed where necessary and with a copy of your ID. The legal deadline is set by § 17 of the Federal Registration Act (BMG): within two weeks of moving in. On the Bürgerbüro page the town also points out that processing times are sometimes longer; so check the current situation there. According to the town, the application can also be dropped into the letterbox at the wooden door of Wilhelmstraße 9. Our services for Ludwigsburg are described on the page Removal company Ludwigsburg.
Ludwigsburg: parking restriction zone, road traffic and access on moving day
In Ludwigsburg the Safety and Public Order department (Fachbereich Sicherheit und Ordnung) is responsible for traffic regulations. In the town's administrative guide, the service "Halteverbotszone einrichten" (setting up a parking restriction zone) is listed under "Straßenverkehr" (road traffic). According to the town, you submit the application informally or by email at least 14 days in advance; the signs must be up four working days before the move. The fee is based on the scale of charges. The department can be reached at [email protected] and by phone on 07141 910-2274. The town gives the telephone hours as Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 12:00 noon and Monday to Thursday 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm. You can reach the special use team (Sondernutzung) on 07141 910-4146.
Contact the town early so that the loading area is in place for the moving date. We recommend stating the street, house number, date and length of the area precisely in the application.
- Town centre around the palace: check whether access is time-restricted and plan the arrival outside peak times.
- Hoheneck and Neckarweihingen: pay attention to street width and parking pressure outside the building; photos of the street help with planning.
- Roadworks: the town publishes a roadworks map, which you should look at before moving day.
- Proximity to Stuttgart: take rush-hour traffic on the access roads into account when choosing the date.
How we organise the zone is explained on the page about the parking restriction zone. If furniture is to be dismantled and reassembled, our move with assembly helps.
