From Berlin to Kielce
Moving to Kielce: capital of the Holy Cross Mountains
Guide
A move to Kielce takes you to the capital of the Świętokrzyskie (Holy Cross) Voivodeship in south-eastern Poland, around 120 km north-east of Kraków and around 170 km south of Warsaw. With about 200,000 inhabitants, the city lies in the middle of the Holy Cross Mountains, with the Silnica river running through it. Kielce is a bishop's see, a university city and a location for the metal and food industries. It is known for the Bishops' Palace, the cathedral and the handball club Vive Kielce. For your international move we clarify access and parking in advance.
We start in Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and drive the lorry around 633 km via the A12 and the Polish A2 and A1 to Kielce; including the statutory break that is about 9 hours, and with loading and unloading usually two days. Whether you are moving from Berlin to Kielce or back to Berlin: we quote the fixed price after a survey. As Poland is part of the EU, there are no customs formalities for your household goods; on the way, the toll via the e-TOLL system applies to vehicles over 3.5 t. More on this under Long-distance move to Poland.

What we take care of on your move to Kielce
Planned in Berlin, arriving in Kielce
We have no branch in Kielce; we come by lorry from Berlin-Moabit. That is why we ask about access, floor and stairwell in advance – whether a flat in the centre or a house in Ślichowice. In Kielce, parking matters are handled by the municipal road authority MZD, which also operates the paid parking zone – we clarify the parking space for the lorry in advance. We quote the fixed price after the survey; we are liable for your belongings under § 451e HGB at €620 per cubic metre. For your private move we coordinate the date with the handover of the flat.

Frequently asked questions about moving to Kielce
Neighbourhoods without fixed boundaries: how Kielce is divided
Unlike many German cities, Kielce has no uniform, legally defined division into districts; the boundaries of the individual neighbourhoods therefore cannot be clearly determined. The Polish place register TERYT lists numerous localities for the city, including Baranówek, Barwinek, Białogon, Czarnów, Szydłówek, Ślichowice and Wietrznia.
The city lies in the Holy Cross Mountains; within the city limits there are nature reserves such as Kadzielnia and Ślichowice. Multi-storey blocks of flats are just as common as detached houses on the outskirts. For the move, therefore, the specific address is what counts: we clarify floor, lift and parking space during the survey. What you need to do after arrival is set out in our checklist for Poland.
Universities, industry and handball
Kielce is home to the Jan Kochanowski University (since 1969), the Kielce University of Technology (since 1974) and the University of Economics and Trade (since 1993). Economically, the city is a processing and trading centre for agricultural produce and a location for the metal and food industries. We do not give specific rents – they depend heavily on location and condition.
The handball club Vive Kielce won the Champions League in 2016, and the football club Korona Kielce plays in the Ekstraklasa. For newcomers from Germany: within the EU there is no customs duty on household goods; according to gov.pl you must register no later than the 30th day after moving in. Long distances from Berlin can be found under Long-distance moves.
Moving costs – this is how simple it is
Your move in good hands: for a one-room flat you pay from €349, for a two-room flat from €594, for a three-room flat from €899 and for a four-room flat from €1,299. For a house or villa we prepare an individual quote especially for you, and we charge long-distance moves fairly from €4.15/km. Arrange your free survey now – we look forward to hearing from you!
Calculating the moving price: the decisive factors
How much your move costs depends on the volume of your belongings, the distance (from €4.15/km) and the floor. A lift saves time and money. A parking restriction zone (Halteverbotszone) may also be necessary. Further services such as furniture assembly or a part load round off the package.

Moving to Kielce: registration (zameldowanie) at the Wydział Obsługi Mieszkańców
According to the City of Kielce, you must register if you change your place of residence or stay in one place for longer than three months. The responsible office is the Wydział Obsługi Mieszkańców (residents' service department) at ul. Szymanowskiego 6, 25-361 Kielce. Polish citizens register in writing or electronically using the gov.pl form; foreign nationals register there in person, and the PESEL number is assigned automatically on registration. You also apply for the ID card in person at this office.
The gov.pl portal sets a deadline for EU and EFTA citizens of no later than the 30th day after moving in in Poland; for non-EU nationals it is the 4th day. Registration itself is free of charge; a certificate of temporary residence costs 17 zł (free if the online registration is processed automatically). You need:
- a valid passport or ID card,
- proof of your legal title to the flat, such as a tenancy agreement or land register extract,
- if you are not the owner, the owner's confirmation together with proof of their title.
According to gov.pl, online registration has run via e-Doręczenia since 1 January 2026 and requires a Profil Zaufany (trusted profile). Plan your registration straight after the key handover. Other places in Poland can be found in our guides to Kraków and Radom.
Kielce: parking, the Strefa Płatnego Parkowania and vehicle matters
For parking matters in Kielce, the Miejski Zarząd Dróg (MZD, municipal road authority) is the point of contact. It operates the Strefa Płatnego Parkowania, the paid parking zone, which according to the MZD consists of sub-zones A and B. Tickets and mobile payment are available for both sub-zones; on the MZD page, card payment is only listed for sub-zone A. The city also provides information about the installation of new parking machines. Prices, season tickets and the zone map can be found on the portal spp.mzd.kielce.pl. According to the MZD, an additional charge for unpaid parking can be settled by bank transfer.
If you want to park a lorry in front of the building on moving day, clarify this in advance with the MZD's Biuro Obsługi Interesanta (customer service office) (ul. Kościuszki 14, 25-310 Kielce, [email protected], phone 41 34 02 800); the city's page does not specify a permit procedure, so we do not promise any deadlines here. For vehicle and driving licence administration, the city refers to the Wydział Obsługi Mieszkańców; anyone registering their car in Poland should contact that office. The City of Kielce also provides information on towing away illegally parked vehicles.
