Long-distance move to Ústí: route, tolls and paperwork
From Moabit to the Elbe
A move to Ústí nad Labem is a move abroad without customs clearance, because the Czech Republic has been part of the EU since 2004. From our depot in Berlin-Moabit (Stromstraße 21) it is 269 road kilometres: via the A13 to Dresden, on the A17 to the border and on the D8 down into the Elbe valley. A lorry covers this in around three and a half hours, i.e. in one working day including loading and unloading. What matters are the registrations before and after the move: deregistration in Berlin and reporting to the Czech foreigners' police. More about our services can be found under Home move.
We quote the fixed price after the survey, with tolls and driving time included. We are liable for your removal goods under the German Commercial Code (HGB); additional insurance for valuable items is possible on request. We pack, transport and assemble, while you take care of deregistration in Berlin and reporting to the Czech foreigners' police. Call us on 01625978461 to get a quote for your move abroad.

Frequently asked questions about moving to Ústí nad Labem
No customs, but a registration obligation: formalities for Ústí
As the Czech Republic is a member of the European Union, there is no customs declaration and no import duty for private removal goods. Your own inventory list with photos is still sensible, for example in the event of an insurance claim. If a car is coming too, you must re-register it in the new country of residence; according to Your Europe there are no common EU deadlines for this, and the Czech authorities set out the conditions.
What matters is reporting your stay: if you are likely to stay longer than 30 days, you report your place of residence to the foreigners' police (cizinecká policie); the exact deadlines and the form are given further below. After three months a registration certificate may be required. We point out these steps to you during planning.
The route: 269 km via Dresden and the D8
Ústí nad Labem, Aussig in German, lies at the confluence of the Bílina and the Elbe, around 48 km as the crow flies south-south-east of Dresden. From Berlin the shortest route runs via the A13 to Dresden, the A17 to the border and the D8, which runs to the west of the city – 269 km in total. A lorry needs around three and a half hours for this and does not have to take a mandatory break, because the 4.5 hours of driving time are not reached.
The typical process: free survey, quote with a fixed price, applying for the parking restriction in Berlin, and on moving day packing, loading, the journey and unloading with assembly. Whether a permit is needed for the removal van at the destination you should ask the municipal authority (Magistrát); we coordinate the loading window accordingly.

Ústí nad Labem: deregistration, vignette and reporting to the foreigners’ police
The Czech Republic is part of the EU. According to zoll.de, the customs exemption for removal goods (Form 0350) concerns moves from non-EU countries into the EU; for your move to Ústí nad Labem, the registration obligation is therefore the main focus. According to the Berlin ServicePortal, you deregister in Berlin no earlier than seven days before moving out and no later than 14 days afterwards, free of charge and with a copy of your ID. You apply for the parking restriction for loading day to the road traffic authority of your district; there the ServicePortal reckons with about four weeks' processing and from 21 euros.
For the road: anyone using motorways in the Czech Republic has to pay a toll. According to edalnice.gov.cz, all four-wheeled vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes must buy an electronic vignette, whose price depends on the type of drive. This page gives no rule for heavier removal vehicles; we clarify the charges in the quote.
After arrival, according to the Czech government portal (portal.gov.cz), the following applies to EU citizens: for a stay of more than 30 days, you report within 30 days of entry to the competent department of the foreigners' police, with your travel document and registration form. Anyone registered via accommodation such as a hotel or hall of residence does not have to do this themselves. According to the EU portal Your Europe, a registration certificate may also be required after three months. You must re-register your car in the new country; each state sets its own deadlines. Where to take bulky waste after moving in? For single pieces of furniture there is the Odpadové taxi (waste taxi): since 1 July 2025 the service has collected furniture and mattresses on working days between 7:00 and 13:00, for 150 crowns per item or set, for residents only.
