Furniture bought together in a flat share: splitting buying out, selling

Furniture in the flat share
Bought together, moved separately – how to keep it fair
Clearly assigned
In almost every flat share (WG) there are things that belong to everyone: the sofa, the washing machine, the kitchen table. When moving, the question is who keeps them and what the others get in return. An inventory list with purchase price, year of purchase and shares makes the answer simple. Once it is decided who takes what, we transport bulky pieces such as loft beds, wardrobes or living-room cabinets safely to the right address. We give you the fixed price after the survey.
If the flatmates move to different addresses, we label each piece of furniture with a name and destination and load in the order of the addresses. Our private move services can be tailored to individual rooms or the whole flat share. Your belongings are covered by liability under the German Commercial Code (HGB; § 451e: €620 per m³), and additional insurance is available on request. That way, in the end everyone knows where the shared sofa is.

Shared furniture to the right address
One date, several destinations
If several rooms are moving at the same time, we survey the whole flat share and then give you a fixed price. What is included – such as furniture assembly or boxes – is stated in the quote. If it is already clear who gets which shared piece of furniture, the quote becomes more precise. Simply call 01625978461 and ask for an individual quote for your flat share.
Offers available individually, depending on effort, scheduling and the scope of services required.

How we move shared furniture
Labelled and safe
At Beste Umzug Unternehmen we know that in a flat-share move not every piece of furniture clearly belongs to one person. That is why we go by your inventory list: each piece gets a name and destination, and shared furniture goes wherever the flat share has decided. We give you the fixed price after the survey; your belongings are covered by liability under the HGB – additional insurance is available on request. Whatever nobody wants any more can be collected by our house clearance service on request.

How the flat share divides shared furniture
In every flat-share move there are things that belong to everyone. These six steps lead from the inventory list to the piece of furniture arriving in the right place – without anyone feeling short-changed.
Inventory list
Collect wishes
Estimate current value
Pay the buyout
Sell or dispose of
Plan the transport
Part load for the shared sofa
If only one shared piece of furniture goes to a former flatmate, a part load is often cheaper than a separate transport. That saves costs, especially on long-distance moves to other cities.

Who
owns what in the flat share?
A flat-share move raises a question nobody asks in everyday life: who actually owns the sofa? Before the move, clarify which furniture and appliances were bought jointly, who keeps them and what buyout the others receive. Whatever is left over is sold or disposed of – how a clearance works is explained in the article Clearing out a flat. We then plan the transport according to your list – even if the shared pieces go to different addresses. The earlier the division is settled, the more precise the quote.

Frequently asked questions on shared furniture in a flat-share move
Who owns what? The flat share's inventory list
To avoid arguments about furniture in a flat-share move, all flatmates should draw up an inventory list early on: what was bought together, when, for how much, and who paid which share?
Items that one person paid for alone belong to them – even if everyone used them. For shared items, you decide who keeps them; the others receive their share of today's value.
Buyout, sale or bulky waste: what happens to shared furniture
If a flatmate keeps a shared item, they pay the others a buyout, usually based on its current value. If nobody wants it, it is sold and the proceeds shared – or it stays in the flat for the successors in return for a buyout.
Whatever is left is collected by the bulky waste service (in Berlin the BSR) or a house clearance. For everything that goes with you, we dismantle and reassemble furniture professionally – including kitchen units. More on this under Furniture assembly.
What the flat-share move costs
We rely on clear prices with no hidden costs.
- 1 room: from €354
- 2 rooms: from €589
- 3 rooms: from €905
- 4 rooms: from €1,279
- House/villa: individual quote
- Long-distance move: from €4.10/km
We are happy to clarify the details during a free survey.
What determines the price – including shared furniture
First of all, the volume of your household counts. The distance is charged from €4.10/km. A floor without a lift means more effort, as does a required no-parking zone. In addition we offer furniture assembly and a part load.
