The shared flat breaks up

One flat, several new addresses – how to make the move-out manageable

A destination for everyone

Unsere Firma Breaking up a shared flat with several destinations: order of addresses, loading, colour system per person and invoicing.

When a shared flat breaks up, everyone moves out at the same time – but each to a different address. Moving day then becomes a tour: one lorry, several unloading points, or several trips in one day. We record each room separately, plan the order of the destinations and load accordingly. We give you the fixed price after the survey; the route to all addresses is included in it. That turns a chaotic group project into a day with a clear schedule.

Besides transport, we offer packing, furniture assembly and – if a new flat is not yet free – interim storage through our storage service. We clear shared rooms such as the kitchen and living room according to your list so that nothing gets mixed up between flatmates. For individual requirements, it is worth looking at our private move services. Your belongings are covered by liability under the German Commercial Code (HGB) (§ 451e: €620 per m³), and additional insurance is available on request. That way exactly what belongs there arrives at each new address.

Request a moving day with several destinations

One survey, one schedule

Call us on 01625978461 and arrange a survey for breaking up your shared flat. We then give you a fixed price that takes all destination addresses into account. We advise on the order of destinations, scheduling and splitting costs among the flatmates; the belongings are covered by liability under the HGB. That way the move-out goes off without a hitch.

Offers available individually, depending on effort, scheduling and the scope of services required.

ONE DAY, MANY ADDRESSES

How we run the break-up of a shared flat

Loading according to schedule

When breaking up a shared flat, order is everything: whoever is unloaded first is loaded last. We plan the route in advance, label every item with the person and address and coordinate who is present at which stop. If the destinations are far apart, we split the tour across several vehicles or days – including as long-distance moves. We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21); you will find destinations with their own page under Locations.

Route planning

We fix the order of the destinations in advance and load in reverse – the first destination goes into the loading space last.

A colour per person

Each flatmate gets their own colour for boxes and furniture – so at each stop only their belongings are left behind.

Assembly service

At each new address, we reassemble the respective flatmate's furniture before heading to the next destination.

Storage

If a new flat is not yet free, we put that flatmate's belongings into storage and deliver them later.
BREAKING UP IN SIX STEPS

How to make a day with many destinations manageable

When a shared flat breaks up, everyone moves out on one day, but to different addresses. These six steps ensure that every flatmate has all their things with them by the evening – and nothing is left behind in the old flat.

01

Collect the destinations

Everyone gives their new address, floor and whether there is a lift – the basis for the route and the quote.
02

Fix the order

The route depends on the location of the destinations and the key handovers; the first destination is loaded last.
03

Colour system

One colour per person on boxes and furniture, plus the name – so the team immediately finds the right items at each stop.
04

Assign shared items

Anything that was shared is assigned to one person or sold beforehand – on moving day there is no more discussion.
05

Who is present where?

At each destination, the new resident or an authorised person should be there to open up and take delivery.
06

Hand over the old flat

Once everything is out: final cleaning, meter readings and handover – by all tenants together or with power of attorney.
WHEN ONE DESTINATION IS FAR AWAY

Part load for the distant destination

Not everyone has to go in the big lorry

If a flatmate with few belongings moves to a distant city, the big lorry does not have to go there: a part load is often cheaper. This option is particularly worthwhile for long-distance moves.

Plan it like a tour

This part of the guide is about the biggest shared-flat move of all: the break-up. Everyone moves out, each to a different address – and it all has to happen on one day or in quick succession. What matters is the order of the destinations, a clear labelling system and the question of who is present at which stop. The article Labelling moving boxes shows how a colour system for boxes works; you can book individual rooms through our Private move service.

Route and order

Collect all the new addresses and fix the order. Whatever is unloaded first goes into the loading space last – that way breaking up the shared flat becomes a manageable tour instead of a muddle in the lorry.

A colour system for everyone

With a packing service, colour-coded boxes and furniture transport recorded separately, only the respective flatmate's belongings are left at each stop – including shared items that were divided up beforehand.

Handling the outliers separately

A distant destination travels as a part load, a single piece of furniture by furniture taxi; if a flat is not yet free, storage bridges the time.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions on breaking up a shared flat with several destinations

Answers on several destination addresses, duration, attendance, shared furniture, the deposit and handing over the old flat.
The fairest way to split the costs is by number of rooms or individual furniture volume. With the fixed price after the survey, the total is set in advance, so the flatmates can simply pay their share. The cost of shared furniture is divided according to a formula agreed beforehand. That way you avoid arguments and ensure transparency throughout the moving process.

Several destinations: route, order and invoicing

When breaking up a shared flat, everyone moves out, but each to a different address. If the destinations are in the same city, one lorry often visits all the addresses one after the other; if they are far apart, several vehicles, days or a part load make more sense. It is important to fix the order beforehand, because the loading depends on it: the first destination goes into the loading space last.

For invoicing, it helps that each room is recorded individually during the survey. The shared flat can then split the fixed price for the whole tour by volume and distance – whoever moves further away or takes more bears a larger share.

Labelling, loading, unloading: how moving day runs

Each flatmate gets their own colour for boxes and furniture, plus their name and destination address. Shared items are assigned to one person beforehand. On moving day, we load according to the route, and at each stop only the belongings with the matching colour are unloaded.

At each destination, the new resident or an authorised person should be present. Once everything is out, the handover of the old shared flat follows: final cleaning, meter readings and report – by all tenants together or with power of attorney. Allow a little time for this after moving day.

What breaking up a shared flat costs

Transparency comes first for us: we move 1-room flats from €365 and 2-room flats from €584. For 3-room flats we charge from €905, and for 4-room flats from €1,269. A house or villa requires an individual quote, while long-distance moves are charged from €3.95/km. Arrange a free survey now to clarify all the details.

What determines the price of a tour with several destinations

  • Distance between the homes (from €3.95/km)
  • Volume of household goods
  • Floor without a lift
  • Organising a no-parking zone

Furniture assembly and a part load also affect the total price.
