Furniture assembly
Dismantling and reassembling furniture: how every screw finds its way back
Step by step
When dismantling and reassembling furniture, every screw counts. Before a wardrobe is taken apart, it is worth taking a photo from the front and from the inside; screws, wall plugs and fittings go into a labelled bag that is attached to the piece of furniture. Large wardrobes, beds and shelving units are dismantled first so that routes are clear. That way no small parts get lost, and reassembling the furniture at the destination goes faster. You can add this service to our private move.
Delicate fronts, mirrors and glass shelves are protected with blankets and film before transport. Not everything is part of furniture assembly: leave the hard-wired connection of an electric cooker to a qualified electrician and gas appliances to a specialist firm. We are liable for damage to your belongings under § 451e HGB at €620 per cubic metre; for very valuable items additional insurance is worthwhile. What we dismantle and reassemble is listed in the quote after the survey.

Have dismantling and reassembly listed in the fixed price
What is dismantled appears in the quote
Tell us during the survey which furniture should be dismantled and reassembled – wardrobe, bed frame or fitted kitchen. We then give you a fixed price in which dismantling and reassembly are explicitly listed. Call us on 01625978461 and arrange an appointment.
Quotes available individually based on workload, scheduling and the desired scope of services.

Photos, bags, padding
What really matters when dismantling
A wardrobe that has been taken apart has to stand straight again at the end, and no fitting may be missing. That is why dismantling furniture involves three things: photos before taking it apart, labelled bags for small parts and protective material for fronts and glass. We are based in Berlin-Moabit (Stromstraße 21) and on request dismantle furniture and reassemble it at the destination; we give you the fixed price after the survey. We are liable for damage under § 451e HGB, and additional insurance is available.

How to get dismantling and reassembly right
Doing the screwing yourself saves money – as long as the parts find each other again at the end. These six rules apply to professionals and DIYers alike, from the emptied wardrobe to the anti-tip fixing on the wall.

Dismantle,
pack, reassemble
Dismantling furniture raises further questions: how is it packed, how do bulky pieces get through the stairwell, is a shared load worthwhile for just a few pieces? What dismantling and reassembly involve is described on the move with assembly page; for longer routes there are our long-distance moves. You can find destinations outside Berlin under locations.

Frequently asked questions about dismantling and reassembling furniture
How dismantling furniture works in practice
Before dismantling furniture, the order is decided – usually the large wardrobes and beds that block routes come first. Take a photo of each piece before the first screw is undone. Screws, wall plugs and fittings go into labelled bags attached to the respective piece of furniture, so nothing gets mixed up later. Fronts and glass elements are padded with blankets and film before they go into the lorry.
At the destination, reassembly happens in reverse order: first the large pieces go into place, then shelves and small furniture. Finally, doors and drawers are aligned and tall furniture is secured to the wall against tipping. With this system, the most important things are often already in place on moving day.
Typical challenges when reassembling furniture
Older furniture or models without instructions are the biggest hurdle when reassembling furniture. Missing fittings, worn screw holes or warped back panels need replacement material and patience; many manufacturers offer spare parts and instructions online. Chipboard only tolerates a few assemblies – so anything that fits through the door should stay in one piece.
Fitted kitchens are a special case: the worktop and panels rarely fit the new kitchen without cutting, and hard-wired electrical appliances belong in the hands of a qualified electrician. Clarify before the move who takes on which part.
