Clearing Out Your Garage & Garden Shed

Moving company Berlin
Clearing a garage and garden shed: what goes where
Sort before you clear
A garage or garden shed rarely contains just bulky waste. Alongside old bicycles and garden furniture there are old tyres, leftover paint, engine oil, lawn fertiliser, broken electrical appliances and garden cuttings – and each of these groups has its own route in Berlin. Sorting before you clear saves trips and costs. This is especially worthwhile before a private move, because only what is really needed should come to your new home. Our House clearance page describes how we handle a clearance.
If you take things away yourself, the BSR recycling centres accept them from Berlin private households as follows (as of January 2025): bulky waste up to 3 m³ per delivery and tree and shrub cuttings up to 1 m³ free of charge, electrical appliances free, old tyres at €3 each (over 1 m: €8). Paints, waste oil and pesticides go to the hazardous waste collection point (Schadstoffannahme), free of charge up to 20 kg per type of waste per day. The BSR does not accept propane gas bottles – they go back to the dealer. What we collect and dispose of is stated in the fixed price beforehand.

How we clear garages and garden sheds
Sort first, then carry
We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and clear garages and garden sheds following a fixed pattern: first you decide what stays, is sold or is given away. We separate the rest into bulky waste, metal, wood and electrical appliances. You set aside hazardous substances such as paint or oil separately; what we can take on from these we clarify during the survey. You receive the fixed price beforehand, and we take responsibility for any damage we cause.

Our services at a glance
When clearing out a garage and garden shed, good preparation saves money and trips. These six points should be done before clearance day – from marking items to keeping the way clear.
Reliable moving service
Safe handling
Clear communication
Structured move planning
Flexible support
Keep access clear
Whatever stays travels on a shared load
After clearing out, often only a little remains: a lawnmower, a workbench, a few boxes of tools. For small amounts like these, a shared load to your new home can be cheaper than a dedicated transport – the items travel on a lorry that is heading in that direction anyway.

From
planning to assembly
Having a garage cleared is often the first step before a larger move, as many items are no longer needed after the move. The same applies to clearing a garden shed when a house sale or new letting is coming up. We combine this service seamlessly with our classic Private move service so that you get everything from a single source. For long-distance moves, too, we take care of the complete clearance beforehand so that only the essentials arrive at the destination.

Questions about garages and garden sheds
Typical items when clearing a garage and garden shed
Most garages contain old tyres, tools, paint tins, bicycles and discarded furniture that block the space for a car or workshop. Garden sheds are often piled high with garden tools, potting compost, lawnmowers and decorations from past seasons that have long since stopped being used. During our clearance we sort everything properly into recyclables, hazardous waste and items that can still be used.
Paints, varnishes and batteries in particular are hazardous waste and must never end up in household rubbish. In Berlin, the BSR hazardous waste collection points accept them from private households free of charge up to 20 kg per type of waste per day. Propane gas bottles are not included – the BSR does not accept them, and they go back to the dealer.
This is how a professional clearance proceeds
After a short initial consultation by phone, we arrange an appointment at which we view the garage or garden shed in person and estimate the effort involved. You then receive a binding fixed-price quote covering all services, including transport and disposal. On the agreed day our team clears out all items and separates them into bulky waste, metal, wood and electrical appliances.
After the clearance we hand the premises over to you swept clean and ready for their new use. On request we combine this service directly with your planned move, so that you can get two jobs done in one appointment.
What a move costs – clearly explained
Transparency matters to us. That is why you will find our guide prices here: 1-room flat from €354, 2-room flat from €584, 3-room flat from €899, 4-room flat from €1,299. For a house or villa you always receive an individual quote tailored to your needs. Long-distance moves are no problem either – here we calculate from €4.15 per kilometre. The calculation is most accurate with a free survey on site.
What does the price of your move depend on?
Basically, the price depends on the volume of your belongings and the distance between the old and new address (from €4.15/km). The floor and lift also play a role, as does any parking restriction zone that may be needed. Anyone booking furniture assembly or a shared load should factor this in too.
