Clearance Checklist: Forget Nothing

Moving company Berlin
Checklist: what must be done before the house clearance
Secure first, then clear
A house clearance before a move saves not only money but also valuable time and nerves. Our team at Beste Umzug Unternehmen takes care of the entire organisation, from sorting to proper disposal. You receive the price as a fixed price after a survey, and we protect walls and floors when carrying items out. That way you can concentrate on your private move in a relaxed way.
Whether a flat, house or cellar – we clear every room on schedule. In doing so, we separate recyclables, bulky waste and electrical appliances; hazardous substances such as leftover paint or chemicals belong in the hazardous waste collection and are discussed beforehand. We clarify with you in advance what can still be sold, donated or recycled. Simply call us on 01625978461 for no-obligation advice.

Where we take items off your checklist
You sort, we clear
The most important points on the checklist are ones only you can do: go through papers, keepsakes and valuables, collect keys, note the meter readings. Everything after that we take over during the house clearance: carrying out, sorting, removal and, on request, a broom-clean handover – at a fixed price after a survey. We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21); the locations overview shows which places have their own pages.

Our moving services at a glance
Before you begin with the clearance, a look at possible valuables in the cellar, attic or garage is worthwhile. Often pieces of furniture or collector’s items that still have a real value are hidden there.

Shared load for what remains
A shared load is worthwhile for the things that remain after the clearance: a few pieces of furniture and boxes travel on a trip that is already planned, instead of you paying for a whole lorry. Bulky waste, on the other hand, does not belong on the shared load; it is taken away during the clearance.

Your
move, our craft
A clearance is often the first step to a successful move. Anyone who sorts out early saves time and transport costs in the actual home move. Especially in a long-distance move, a thorough clearance is worthwhile, since less volume makes the transport cheaper. Our checklist helps you to proceed systematically and to overlook nothing important.

Questions about the house clearance checklist
Process of a professional clearance
A house clearance begins with a free on-site survey, during which we assess the scope of the work. We then draw up a transparent fixed-price quote covering all services. On the agreed date, our team sorts all items into reuse, recycling and disposal.
Finally, we hand over the rooms broom-clean, so that you can start straight away on the next step – such as your private move. We take electrical appliances on request; chemicals and leftover paint belong in the hazardous waste collection – what we can take on from these we clarify during the survey.
The checklist before clearance day
- Papers: go through contracts, ID documents, certificates, photos and savings books yourself and take them with you.
- Valuables: remove jewellery, cash, collectibles and keepsakes from the flat beforehand.
- Mark: clearly label furniture that is staying or being sold.
- Record the meter readings for electricity, gas and water with a photo.
- Collect keys for the cellar, loft, letterbox and garage.
- Put out hazardous substances such as paints, varnishes and batteries separately.
- Inform the landlord or property management about the date and access.
The more complete the list, the more accurate the fixed price – and the less volume remains for a long-distance move.
