A Clearance: What to Look Out For

Moving company Berlin
How to recognise a good clearance company
Before you book
A clearance is often the first step before a planned home move or the dissolution of a household. Our team takes over the complete clearing of cellars, attics, flats or entire houses – professionally and on schedule. In doing so, we pay special attention to an environmentally correct disposal and cleanly separate recyclables, bulky waste and hazardous waste from each other. That way you save yourself the stress and the physical strain of a self-clearance.
A reputable provider only names a price once they have seen the rooms – on site or in photos. We offer you a free on-site survey, assess the effort realistically and give you a fixed price that includes clearing, transport and disposal. Whether it is a hoarder's flat, a household clearance after a death or a simple cellar clearance: we work discreetly, and for damage we cause, we are liable under the statutory rules. We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21), see locations.

What to look out for with providers
Checkpoints before booking
A clearance service is quickly found, a reputable one not always. Make sure the provider gives a full address, carries out a survey before naming a price and makes a written quote with a clear scope of services. Ask where the waste goes – disposal costs money, and a conspicuously low price can mean that this is exactly where corners are cut. Pay by bank transfer against an invoice; only then can you claim labour costs for tax purposes under § 35a EStG.

What you can check with us
When clearing living spaces, there is often furniture that can still be sold. We check the household goods and offset items of value transparently against the fixed price – every item is listed in the quote.

Shared load for small jobs
For smaller clearances or individual pieces of furniture that need to go to another place, we offer a shared load: the items travel on a lorry that is on the road anyway. Here too, ask for the fixed price in advance – this applies to small and large jobs alike.

From
planning to assembly
A clearance can be ideally combined with other moving services, for instance when you are planning a home move at the same time or preparing a long-distance move to another city. Frequently the need for a clearing also arises with flat clearances after inheritances or with the move-out from a rented property. We are happy to advise you on which services can sensibly complement each other, in order to save you time and effort. That way you receive everything from a single source – from the clearing to the final move.

What to look out for? Frequently asked questions
Process of a professional clearance
The process of a clearance usually begins with a free on-site survey, in which we get an overview of the scope and nature of the rooms to be cleared. You then receive a transparent fixed-price quote from us that covers all costs from clearing to disposal. Once the date is agreed, we take care of the complete clearance, sort recyclables, bulky waste and hazardous waste properly and hand the rooms over to you broom-clean.
Depending on the scope, a clearance takes anything from a few hours to several days. For larger properties such as houses or commercial premises, we deploy additional staff and suitable vehicles to keep to the schedule. On request, we also carry out small decorative repairs or the final cleaning, so that you can hand over or re-let the property straight away.
Costs and factors of a clearance
The cost of a clearance depends on several factors: the size of the premises, the condition of the property and the quantity and type of items to be disposed of. Access to the property also affects the price, for example whether there is a lift or whether a removal van can pull up directly outside. With us you always receive a fixed price, so you do not have to worry about hidden costs.
Flat-rate average prices are of little help, because quantity, floor and types of waste vary greatly. Valuable items we find during the clearance are offset fairly and can lower the total cost. We recommend getting an individual quote in advance to find out the exact costs for your specific situation.
What does a move in Germany cost?
The price range for a move is wide and depends on many factors. In principle, our prices start at €354 for a 1-room flat, €589 for a 2-room flat, €894 for a 3-room flat and €1,344 for a 4-room flat. Larger properties such as a house or villa are calculated individually. For a long-distance move we charge from €3.85/km. Take advantage of our free survey to get clarity about your costs.
Price factors of a move at a glance
The price of your move depends largely on the volume of your household goods, the distance (from €3.85/km), the floor and whether there is a lift. A required parking restriction zone can also affect the total cost. Additional services such as furniture assembly or a shared load are charged separately.
