Choosing the Right Moving Date

Choosing a date
Planning your moving date: from the end of tenancy back to your preferred day
Deadline, day, season
The right moving date follows first of all from your tenancy agreement: notice that reaches the landlord by the third working day of a month at the latest ends the tenancy at the end of the month after next (§ 573c BGB). From this date you plan backwards – with a few days' overlap for renovation and handover. Popular days are booked up quickly, especially between May and September, which is why we recommend booking four to six weeks in advance.
The day of the week also plays a role: during the week demand is usually lower than at weekends or on the last day of the month, and public offices, landlords and property managers can be reached. In Berlin you should apply for the parking restriction zone (Halteverbotszone) two to four weeks in advance. For your private move we advise you on which date suits your situation and quote the fixed price after the survey.

Secure your preferred date, get a fixed price
Fixed price after a survey, liability under the HGB
Call us on 01625978461 and tell us your preferred date and an alternative. After the survey you receive a fixed price – in the high season as well as the low season. We are liable for your household goods under the German Commercial Code (HGB), and additional insurance is possible on request.
Offers available individually, depending on effort, scheduling and the scope of services required.

How we help plan your date
Thought through backwards from the end of tenancy
We tell you openly which days are in high demand – end of the month, Saturdays, summer holidays – and where there is leeway. We coordinate every moving date with the parking restriction, lift and key handover so that the day starts on time. We quote the fixed price after the survey, and we are liable for your household goods under the HGB (§ 451e: €620 per m³). We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and also plan long-distance moves with a fixed delivery date.

Flexible date? Part load
For smaller volumes we offer a part load, where your belongings travel together with other jobs. This saves costs but requires a flexible date: instead of a fixed day there is a time window for collection and delivery.

All
about the right day
When choosing the moving date, you should consider several deadlines together: the notice period for the old flat, days of leave for moving day and public holidays, which differ from one federal state to another – in Berlin, for example, 8 March. Whether your employer gives you a day off is set out in your employment or collective agreement; more on this in the article Special leave for a move. If you clarify this early, you avoid time pressure.

Frequently asked questions about the moving date
Choosing the best season for your move
The low season between October and April often offers lower prices and more flexibility with dates, as demand is lower than in summer. If you are not tied to particular dates, you can save considerably here and still enjoy a professional service.
In the summer months, on the other hand, demand is particularly high, as many families schedule their move during the school holidays. If you still want to move during this time, you should reserve a moving date early to avoid bottlenecks.
Choosing the right day of the week and time
A move during the week is usually cheaper and easier to plan flexibly than at the weekend, as authorities, landlords and service providers can also be reached on working days. The parking situation is often more relaxed on working days too.
An early start in the morning is also recommended so that you have enough daylight and buffer time for unforeseen delays. That way your move runs smoothly and without time pressure.
Starting prices at a glance
In a nutshell: 1 room costs from €359, 2 rooms from €609, 3 rooms from €905 and 4 rooms from €1,324. If you live in a house or a villa, you always receive an individual quote after a survey. For long-distance moves a price per kilometre from €4.10 applies. Whether mid-month or end of the month – we quote the fixed price after a free survey.
What determines the price besides the date
For a realistic quote we need details of the volume, the distance (from €4.10/km), the floor and the lift. The question of a parking restriction zone is also important, as is whether furniture assembly or part load are required.
Services for your preferred date
Depending on the date and time pressure, these services can be combined flexibly.
- Private move – your new home is waiting, we will get you there safely.
- Part load – the inexpensive alternative for smaller volumes.
- House clearance – we clear up, quickly and cleanly.
- Furniture transport – from sofa to wardrobe, transported safely.
- Move with assembly – a convenient move with a complete assembly service.
- Company relocation – a smooth move for offices, practices and businesses.
Planning the date for a long-distance move
With a long-distance move, the date also depends on the route: long journeys are often spread over two days, and lorries over 7.5 t may not run on Sundays and public holidays. We are based in Berlin and drive nationwide – more under Long-distance moves and in the overview of destinations.
