Coordinating a move: who does what?

Who does what?
Coordinating a move: four parties, clear tasks
Without gaps or duplicated work
A move usually involves four parties: you, the removal company, your old and new landlord, and authorities such as the registration office (Bürgeramt) and the road traffic authority. Problems almost always arise at the handovers – nobody applied for the parking restriction, the landlord's confirmation is missing at the Bürgeramt, the internet contract keeps running in the old flat. If you decide early on who is responsible for what, you avoid exactly these gaps.
The basic rule: the moving team carries, dismantles and reassembles, and packs on request; we apply for a parking restriction if you book it. Giving notice, re-registering within two weeks and the contracts with utility providers remain with you. The new landlord must confirm your move-in for the Bürgeramt (§ 19 BMG). We are based in Berlin-Moabit (Stromstraße 21) and, after the survey, write into the fixed price which tasks we take on. More under private move.

Clarify tasks during the survey
Fixed price after a survey – with a clear task list
Call us on 01625978461 and arrange a free survey. During it we clarify what you take on yourself – packing boxes, dismantling shelves, applying for the parking restriction – and where our moving team steps in. The fixed price then lists every booked service separately, so that nobody is waiting for anyone else on moving day.
Quotes available individually based on workload, scheduling and the desired scope of services.

What the moving team takes on
Depending on the services booked
What a removal company takes on depends on what you book: from simply carrying and driving to packing, assembly, parking restrictions and disposal. We are based in Berlin-Moabit (Stromstraße 21), survey your flat and then quote a fixed price in which each service is listed separately. For your removal goods we are liable under § 451e HGB at €620 per cubic metre of cargo space; for very valuable items additional insurance makes sense.

What remains with you
No removal company can take contracts, authorities and personal matters off your hands. Some of them have fixed deadlines; you should have these six points in your calendar.

Shared load: who coordinates what?
With a shared load you share the cargo space with other consignments going in the same direction, which saves costs on long-distance moves. We coordinate the loading order, route and time window; your task is to have the goods packed and labelled and to be reachable at the destination at the agreed time.

Division
of tasks by type of move
Whether a private move, office move or long-distance move – the tasks are distributed differently depending on the type of move. Within Berlin, one parking restriction and one moving day are often enough; with a long-distance move, a second parking restriction in the new city, a longer drive and a new registration authority are added. Which electricity, gas and internet contracts you transfer or cancel is described in the guide transferring electricity, gas and internet. More on routes is under long-distance moves.

Questions about dividing up the tasks
The removal company's tasks in detail
A removal company does more than carry boxes if you book it: dismantling and reassembling furniture, padding and secure loading, packing materials and, on request, packing. We can also apply for the parking restriction zone at the road traffic authority. Which of these are in the order is set out in the fixed price after the survey.
Work on electricity, gas and water connections, final cleaning, dealing with authorities and contracts are not the removal company's job. For electrical connections and kitchen appliances, hire a specialist firm if needed. Discuss the lift, access and quiet hours in the building with the property management in advance and pass the information on to us.
Your tasks as a customer before moving day
As the customer you are responsible for the personal organisation: giving notice on the tenancy, re-registering at the Bürgeramt within two weeks, contracts for electricity, gas and internet, and the new address for post, bank and insurers. Sorting out before the move is also up to you and saves time and costs when carrying out the move.
Transport important documents, jewellery and cash yourself; for such goods a removal company's liability is excluded by law. Tell us early if there is a piano, art or very heavy items, so that we can plan materials and helpers. You set the handover date with the landlord yourself.
Transparent prices for every move
Whether a small flat or a large house – with us you pay fairly and transparently. Moving a 1-room flat starts from €369, a 2-room flat costs from €609. For 3 rooms we charge from €884, for 4 rooms from €1,299. A house or villa always gets an individual quote, as many factors play a role here. For long-distance moves a price per kilometre from €4.25/km applies. Use our free survey to get clarity about your individual costs.
