The last week before moving out: fridge furniture, flat handover

Singles guide · Part 13
Seven days to the handover: the countdown for singles
The last week
In the last week before a single person's move, everything comes together: mail forwarding must be booked, the fridge emptied, furniture you no longer need has to leave the flat, and the handover needs preparing. Without flatmates, each of these tasks falls to you. On moving day our team takes care of carrying and transport; more on this under our private moving service. This leaves the last week for what only you can do.
Book mail forwarding with Deutsche Post at least five working days before the move; for private customers there is now only a six-month term, and parcels are not forwarded. Defrost the fridge the day before. If you are flexible with a small household, you can save with a shared load (Beiladung). For the transport we are liable under the German Commercial Code (HGB), and with a fixed price after a survey you know in advance what costs to expect.

When the move is a week away, every day counts. Call us on 01625978461 – if capacity is available, we arrange a survey and date at short notice. Our fixed-price model takes into account how much volume your single household actually has.
Offers available individually, depending on effort, scheduling and the scope of services required.

What we take over in the week of the move
So that you can take care of the handover
At Beste Umzug Unternehmen you receive a clear fixed price after a survey, whether it is a small single person's move or a long-distance move. In the last week we deliver boxes on request, apply for the parking restriction and collect furniture that is not coming along. On moving day itself we carry and transport – even through narrow stairwells and small lifts. For damage we are liable under the German Commercial Code (HGB). We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21); destinations with their own page are shown in the locations overview.

The countdown of the last week
These six tasks belong in the last week before a single person's move. If you tick them off, you will have no open points on the handover date – and will not have to juggle the fridge, boxes and keys alone on the last evening.

The
last seven days
Part 13 is about the last week before the move: mail forwarding, the fridge countdown, giving away furniture, a broom-clean flat and the handover with a report. We show which deadlines still count now and why the number of keys belongs in the report. If a long-distance move is coming up, planning the arrival is added. This makes every step up to moving out easy to follow.

Frequently asked questions about the last week before the move
Now whatever is not coming along has to go
A single person's move is the perfect occasion to declutter consistently. If you live alone, you do not have to take a partner's or flatmate's preferences into account and can question every item critically: will it really be needed in the new flat? Fewer items mean fewer moving boxes, shorter transport times and often a lower fixed price, because less volume has to be moved.
Use platforms to sell or donate furniture you no longer need before moving day gets closer. Everything you no longer need should ideally have left the flat two weeks before the date, and in the last week at the latest. That way, on moving day itself only what is really meant to move remains, and the whole process becomes much more relaxed.
Step by step to the handover
Structure is particularly important in a single person's move, because nobody else takes over the organisation. The moving company and parking restriction should be booked at least four weeks before; reserve the appointment at the Bürgeramt for the time after moving in – you can only register once you have moved in, and then you have two weeks. Inform the landlord and utility suppliers of your moving-out date early. Label boxes by room so that nothing gets mixed up when unpacking.
In the last week, a fridge countdown is a good idea: use up supplies instead of taking them with you. On moving day our team takes care of loading and unloading so that you can deal with the flat handover in peace – you will find a template in the article Handover report template. If you are planning a long-distance move, you will also need a parking restriction zone at the destination.
