Summer high season: planning your moving date helpers and no-parking zone in good time

Planning the date
Planning backwards: from move-out day to the first enquiry
Fix it early
For many people, July and August are the obvious time to move: long days, school holidays, annual leave. That is exactly why it gets tight – especially on the last and first days of a month, when many tenancies end and begin. If you give notice on your flat, under § 573c BGB you do so no later than the third working day of a month, to take effect at the end of the month after next. From that moment your move-out day is fixed, and from there you can plan backwards. At Beste Umzug Unternehmen we arrange the survey as early as possible so that your preferred date is firmly scheduled.
A small overlap helps: if the old and new rent run in parallel for a few days, the move does not have to fall on the last day. We quote the fixed price after the survey; your belongings are covered by liability under the German Commercial Code (HGB) (§ 451e: €620 per m³). Call us as soon as your move-out day is fixed – then we will plan the date and no-parking zone (Halteverbotszone) together.

Move-out day fixed? Then request your date now
Survey early, date fixed
In the summer months and around the turn of the month, dates are booked up quickly. Enquire as soon as your move-out day is fixed. Then we will arrange the survey, quote the fixed price and, on request, take care of the no-parking zone. Call us on 01625978461 – the quote is non-binding.
Offers available individually, depending on effort, scheduling and the scope of services required.

How we plan dates in summer
Early and with a buffer
In the high season, the order counts: first the survey and the date, then the no-parking zone, then the packing plan. During the survey we ask about the end of the tenancy, the handover date and the key handover at the new home, and we schedule moving day so that a buffer remains. We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21), work at a fixed price after a survey and, on request, take care of the no-parking zone.

Six dates that count
A summer move has several fixed dates that depend on one another. These six points help you not to forget anything – from the notice letter to re-registration, whether you move with us or with friends.

Ask early
Clarify leave and a day off
Ask helpers early
Applying for a parking zone
Part load with a flexible day
With a part load, your belongings travel on a route together with other orders. This works well if your date is not tied to a specific day. In summer: agree the delivery window early, allow some leeway and take delicate items with you yourself.

Why
summer is so busy
Several things come together in summer: families use the school holidays, many people are on leave, and numerous tenancies end and begin around the turn of the month. On top of that, friends and helpers are away themselves. If you enquire early, you have the greater choice. Dates in the middle of the month are often less in demand. You can read more about planning around the turn of the month in the article Moving at the end of the month.

Questions about your summer moving date
Planning backwards from move-out day: notice and month end
The most important date is the end of the tenancy. Under § 573c BGB, tenants give notice no later than the third working day of a month, to take effect at the end of the month after next – so if you give notice at the beginning of May, you are out at the end of July. From this day you plan backwards: moving date, no-parking zone, packing, leave.
A particularly large number of people move at the end of the month. If the new and old rent run in parallel for a few days, you can choose a day in the middle of the month, which is often less in demand. You should request the date as soon as the end of the tenancy is fixed, because early start times are booked up quickly in summer.
Sorting out helpers, leave and the no-parking zone in good time
In summer, friends and family are often away themselves. So ask helpers early or plan the move with a team from the start. Whether you get the moving day off is governed by your employment contract or collective agreement – apply for the day in good time.
You need a free loading zone for the removal van. In Berlin, the road traffic authority of the district office approves the no-parking zone; the application should be made around two to four weeks in advance, and the signs are put up at least 72 hours beforehand. After moving in, you have 14 days to register at the registration office (Bürgeramt).
