Planning an Express Move: Step by Step

Moving company Berlin
Eight steps in the right order
Planning with little lead time
An express move is the solution when things suddenly have to happen fast – because of a sudden job change, a terminated flat or an unexpected tenancy agreement. When time is short, the order is what counts: anyone who buys boxes first and only then looks for a moving team often loses the best dates. That is why the first question is by when you have to be out, followed immediately by your belongings and the quote. We tell you honestly on the phone how quickly a date is available – without promising a fixed number of hours. That is how we combine speed with plannability.
A simple principle helps with planning: first everything that needs lead time, last what can only be done after moving in. The date, parking restriction and flat handover go at the front, packing and transferring contracts in the middle, and registration with the registration office (Bürgeramt) at the end. You receive all services at the fixed price agreed in writing; we are liable for your belongings under the rules of the German Commercial Code (HGB). Whether a private move or a business relocation – we adapt the plan to your situation.

Step one: settle the date
Date and fixed price first, then everything else
Need a moving date at short notice? Call us on 01625978461, tell us your deadline, both addresses and your furniture – and you will know whether a team is free and what it costs. Beste Umzug Unternehmen is based in Berlin; the Locations overview shows which places have their own pages.

Which steps we take on
Your plan, our work
Of the eight steps of an express move, you can hand several over to us: recording your belongings, quote and date, materials, packing, dismantling, transport and assembly. You receive the fixed price in writing before booking so that you can plan the next step with confidence. We are liable for your belongings under the freight law for moves in the German Commercial Code (HGB). What stays with you are the deadline, flat handover, contracts and registration at your new home.

How we support you
A plan only works with reliable commitments. That is why we calculate every express move individually and confirm the date, services and a binding fixed price to you in writing before the move starts. If anything changes, you hear about it immediately.
Reliable moving service
Safe handling
Clear communication
Structured move planning
Flexible support
Finishing with a check
Shared load: only with leeway in the plan
A shared load can be cheaper than a dedicated vehicle because you share the cargo space with other customers. The date, however, is set by the planned tour – so it only fits if your plan has a few days of leeway and only a little furniture is coming along.

Your
move – fully organised
The plan for an express move follows the same steps as any move, just more tightly. If you have more time, the classic private move follows the same process with more buffer. On longer routes from Berlin, driving time and a loading zone at the destination are added as separate steps – more on this in our long-distance moves. The overview of Locations shows which places have their own pages.

Questions about planning
Steps 1 to 4: deadline, belongings, date, parking restriction
1. Clarify the deadline: by when do you have to be out, and from when can you move in? 2. Record your belongings: a furniture list including cellar and balcony, plus floors, lift and carrying distance at both addresses. 3. Quote and date: with these details you receive a written quote at a fixed price and – if a team is free – the date confirmation. The page Short-notice moving in Berlin shows how we handle this in Berlin.
4. Check the parking restriction: in Berlin the signs must be in place at least three full days (72 hours) before the move, and the road traffic authority usually needs considerably longer to issue the order. With only a few days' notice, a zone is therefore often no longer obtainable – in that case we plan honestly with a longer carrying distance.
Steps 5 to 8: contracts, packing, moving day, registration
5. Contracts and post: set up mail forwarding, transfer electricity, internet and insurance, talk to your landlord about the handover – the statutory notice period for tenants is around three months (§ 573c BGB). 6. Packing: room by room, label boxes with the destination room, keep documents and valuables separate. If you are flexible about the weekday, you often have more choice of dates.
7. Moving day: photograph the meter readings, check together when unloading, record visible damage immediately, hand over the old flat with a handover report. 8. Registration: register with the registration office (Bürgeramt) within two weeks of moving in (§ 17 BMG), with the landlord confirmation (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung). Incidentally, whether a surcharge applies for very short-notice dates is stated in advance in the quote.
