Planning a Piano Transport: Step by Step

Moving company Berlin
Planning a piano transport: this is how the process succeeds step by step
Six steps
A piano transport places special demands on technique, experience and equipment, since upright and grand pianos often weigh several hundred kilograms and react extremely sensitively to knocks. Already in the planning, we take access routes, stairwells and door widths into account, in order to determine the optimal transport route. Our team at Beste Umzug Unternehmen works with special piano transport rollers, carrying straps and roller boards, in order to move your instrument gently. That way a complex task becomes a smooth, professionally accompanied process.
Before the actual transport day, a free viewing or a phone call takes place, in which we capture the model, weight and floor of the piano. Afterwards we draw up a transparent fixed price for you without hidden costs. On moving day, our experts secure the instrument with special blankets and lashing straps before it is professionally loaded. Anyone moving a complete household at the same time ideally combines the piano transport with our home move.

Fixed price after a survey
Step one is a phone call: on 01625978461 we note the model, floor, lift and destination address and arrange the survey. You then receive a quote with a fixed price for your piano transport and a proposed date and time window – without obligation.
Quotes available individually based on workload, scheduling and the desired scope of services.

What we do at each step
A plan instead of improvisation
In piano transport, each step depends on the one before: without measurements, no choice of method; without a parking space, no punctual start; without securing, no safe carrying. That is why we work in a fixed order – survey, clarify parking, secure, carry, strap down, set up. We move the instrument with lifting straps, stair trolleys and protective padding; we give you the fixed price after the survey, and we are liable for damage under the HGB. We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21); places with their own pages can be found under Locations.

The timetable at a glance
A simple timetable helps the piano transport succeed step by step. It starts about four weeks before the move and only ends once your piano tuner has tuned the instrument in its new place.

Moving
& transport from a single source
Alongside the classic piano transport, we also take over complex long-distance moves, in which valuable instruments have to be transported over long distances. We likewise accompany private household moves, office moves as well as special transports for antiques and heavy pieces of furniture. Every project is planned individually, so dates, costs and logistics are optimally coordinated with one another. That way you profit from one contact for all moving services from a single source.

Questions about planning a piano transport
Costs in piano transport: what you should reckon with
The costs of a piano transport depend on factors such as weight, floor, distance and accessibility. An upright piano is mostly cheaper to transport than a large grand piano, which requires additional securing measures.
With our transparent fixed-price quote, you know exactly from the start which costs are coming your way – entirely without hidden fees or surprises on moving day.
Mastering typical situations in piano transport
Narrow stairwells, slim door frames and old buildings without a lift are typical situations in piano transport. What matters is recognising them in the very first step: during the survey we measure spiral stairs, landings and doors and decide whether the piano will be carried, rolled or whether an external lift should be considered.
You can read how we go about this under Piano transport.
What does my move cost? All prices in detail
The cost of a move depends primarily on the size of the flat. For a 1-room flat we charge from €369, for a 2-room flat from €605. For a 3-room flat the price is from €889, for a 4-room flat from €1,289. Houses and villas have to be looked at individually, which is why we always prepare an individual quote for them. If you are moving further away, you pay from €4.25 per kilometre for long-distance moves. The calculation is most accurate during a free survey.
Calculating moving costs: this is what matters
The calculation depends first and foremost on volume and distance (from €4.25/km). Then come the floor, the lift and, where needed, a parking restriction zone. If you also need furniture assembly or a shared load, say so early on.
