Parking restriction zone and furniture lift: how to get the removal van to your door

Singles' guide · Part 5
Short routes from the lorry to your front door
Securing access
The further from the front door the removal van parks, the longer loading takes – and the more expensive it becomes. If you are moving as a single, plan the access as early as the date. In Berlin you apply for the parking restriction zone (Halteverbotszone) at the road traffic authority (Straßenverkehrsbehörde) of the district office (Bezirksamt); processing takes around four weeks. With a professional private move we handle the application, signs and transport from a single source.
If the new flat is high up and there is no lift, a furniture lift via a window or balcony can save time and spare the stairwell. Whether that works, we clarify during the survey. You will find details of our services under Private move; for a long-distance move we plan access at both addresses – more under Long-distance moves. For the transport we are liable under the German Commercial Code (HGB).

Application, signs, fixed price after a survey
Call us on 01625978461, ideally four to six weeks before the move. During the survey we check access and floors and then quote a fixed price – with a parking restriction zone if you wish.
Offers available individually, depending on effort, scheduling and the scope of services required.

How we arrange access for you
From the application to the sign
A no-parking zone has to be applied for, set up and documented in good time – otherwise a car will still be in the way on moving day. If you wish, we take care of all of it: the application to the responsible authority, setting up the signs and the proof of when they were in place. If a furniture lift makes sense, we plan it in as well. We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and operate nationwide; whether your destination has its own page, you can see under Locations. We quote the fixed price after the survey.

How to plan the no-parking zone and lift
If you sort out access early, you save time and hassle on moving day. These six steps apply to both the old and the new address – for a move within Berlin as well as a long-distance move to another city.

Access,
parking, furniture lift
Part 5 is about the route between the street and the flat: when does a single move need a parking restriction zone, how far in advance must it be applied for, and when is a furniture lift worthwhile? We explain the Berlin rules and why other cities have their own deadlines. On top of that comes the question of how to plan both addresses at the same time for a long-distance move.

Frequently asked questions about no-parking zones, furniture lifts and access
Less volume, shorter loading time
A move is the perfect time to declutter thoroughly as a single. Use the three-box method – keep, sell, donate – to reduce your household goods and lower moving costs. The less volume has to be transported, the lower your fixed-price quote will be.
Digital inventory lists also help you keep track of the remaining items. Sell unused furniture early via classified ad portals to save space and transport costs. That way you start in your new flat unburdened and organised.
Moving alone: securing access and schedule
Without a partner or family at your side, good preparation is especially important. Draw up a detailed schedule with all tasks – from giving notice on the old tenancy to registering new contracts at your new home. A professional moving company takes a considerable load off you and handles the entire logistics.
If a no-parking zone and a parking space belong on the list, apply for the zone early enough – in Berlin about four weeks beforehand. How the application works, you can read in the article Applying for a no-parking zone. We are liable for transport damage under the HGB; take valuables with you yourself.

No-parking zone, floor, lift: these criteria count
The price calculation is always based on volume and distance – the latter from €4.10/km. On top of that come structural conditions such as a floor without a lift and a possible parking restriction zone. Furniture assembly and a part load can also be booked as extras.
