Packing a First-Night Box

Moving company Berlin
The box that goes in last and comes out first
The first night in your new home
The first few hours after a move are often the most exhausting: boxes are piled up, the bed is not assembled yet, and the charging cable is somewhere right at the bottom. The first-night box solves exactly that. It contains everything you need until the next day, and is loaded last and unloaded first. At Beste Umzug Unternehmen we plan the transport at a fixed price; the box itself is best packed by you the evening before.
Whether a private move or a long-distance move – over long distances the lorry may arrive later than you, in which case the box belongs in your own car. You can find out more about our private move services and the places we move to under locations. If you would like help packing the other boxes, you can book our packing service; you still pack the first-night box yourself, because only you know what goes in it.

Packing tips from everyday moving
So that everything is there on the first evening
A typical moving-day evening: everything has arrived, but nobody can find the toothbrush, bed linen or cordless screwdriver. That is why we recommend one first-night box per household and a separate one for children. Pack it the evening before, mark it conspicuously and let our movers know so that it is loaded last – or take it straight along in your own car. The agreed fixed price applies to all other boxes; for removal goods, our liability is under the German Commercial Code (HGB).

How we support your moving day
A good first-night box takes the stress out of moving-day evening. We plan the rest of the day so that you can rely on it: clear arrangements, a fixed date and a fixed price.
Loaded last
Boxes in the right place
Arrival time clarified
Bed first
Informed in good time
Arriving instead of searching
Shared load: take the box yourself
With a shared load you share the cargo space with other jobs and save money as a result – especially on a long-distance move. Because the delivery then arrives within a time window, the first-night box definitely belongs in your own luggage and not on the lorry.

Your
move, our craft
There are many small tasks around a move – from labelling boxes correctly to the first-night box. With a long-distance move, questions about driving time, time window and parking space are added. Clearance, parking restriction zones and furniture assembly are also among our services; find out more on our page about private moves. The guide labelling moving boxes shows how to mark boxes by room.

First-night box: questions and answers
What absolutely belongs in the first-night box?
The first-night box should contain everything you need in the first 24 hours after the move – even before the remaining boxes are unpacked. This includes toiletries, a change of clothes, important documents and charging cables for your smartphone and laptop. Medication and a small first-aid kit are also a must, in case of minor scrapes on the way or straight after arrival.
Bed linen, a towel and tools for assembling the first furniture are just as important. If you plan cleverly, you will also pack snacks and a coffee machine, so you can relax straight after the exhausting move. This saves you hours of searching through boxes that are already sealed.
Practical tips for packing and labelling
Label your first-night box clearly, so that it is not mixed up with other boxes during the move. It is best to use a striking colour or a large label saying "Open first". Put the box in the van last, so that it is the first thing you can reach when unloading.
On a long-distance move, it is even advisable to transport the box separately in your own car, so you have it to hand at all times. That way you are well prepared regardless of when the removal van arrives. Further information on our moving services can be found under long-distance moves.
How we calculate your move
Our pricing is simple: 1-room flats cost from €359, 2-room flats from €584, 3-room flats from €909 and 4-room flats from €1,309. For larger properties such as a house or a villa you receive an individual quote. If you are moving over longer distances, you pay from €4.25/km for long-distance moves. It is best to arrange a free survey straight away for an exact quote.
Pricing for the move: the basics
Volume, distance from €4.25/km, floor and lift are the basis of every moving calculation. A parking restriction zone may also be added. If you would like to book furniture assembly or a shared load, the scope of services is extended accordingly.
What sets our moving firm apart?
Our strength lies in the variety of our services: we take care of the company move just as professionally as the home move, offer reliable furniture transport, enable inexpensive part loads, take over the complete move with assembly and, with our clearance, provide order and space.
Moving to another city
