Kitchen guide
Packing the kitchen: how to move without chaos
Step by step
When packing up the kitchen, it is best to start with the things you use least often – storage tins, your best china and baking tins. Keep categories such as crockery, glasses, cutlery and electrical appliances separate so that nothing gets mixed up later. Several layers of packing paper or old towels work particularly well as padding for fragile crockery. Label every box clearly with its contents and destination room so that, with a moving service, each box goes straight into the right room.
Electrical appliances such as blenders, toasters or the coffee machine are best transported in their original packaging or well padded. Switch the fridge off the day before, let it defrost and wipe it dry; the cooker is cleaned, and a hard-wired electric cooker is disconnected by a qualified electrician. For a private move we can pack the whole kitchen on request. This saves you time, and crockery and glasses travel padded in their boxes.

The kitchen takes time
Crockery, appliances, food, furniture
The kitchen is often the most demanding room in a move: lots of small, fragile items, heavy pots and appliances with connections. On request we pack crockery, glasses and electrical appliances with padding – whether it is a local move or a long-distance move. We give you the fixed price after the survey; we are liable for your belongings under the HGB, and additional insurance is available. Call us on 01625978461 – we will advise you on your kitchen.

Questions about packing and unpacking the kitchen
The right packaging for delicate crockery
Plates should always be stacked on edge and never flat to avoid breakage. Use special crockery packing paper or bubble wrap for every single cup and plate.
Glasses should be wrapped individually and placed in sturdy boxes with layers of corrugated cardboard in between. Make sure not to pack boxes too heavily – a maximum of 20 kilograms per box is the rule of thumb for safe transport.
Unpacking the kitchen: the best order at the new place
When unpacking the kitchen, set up the fridge first; only switch it on after the resting time given in the operating instructions. A hard-wired electric cooker is connected by a registered electrician. Then put crockery and glasses away in the cupboards you have planned for them, following the labels on your boxes.
Cutlery and frequently used utensils should be put away within easy reach first. Take your time with the kitchen – it is often the heart of your new home and deserves special care when setting it up.
