Moving with children: why planning is everything

Moving with children brings particular challenges for families, because children are often sensitive to changes in their familiar surroundings. The earlier you start planning, the more relaxed the whole process will be for everyone involved. Children's room down last, up first
We are based in Berlin-Moabit (Stromstraße 21) and take care of packing, transport and assembly for your family move. On request we dismantle the children's room last and set it up again first, so your child sleeps in their own bed that evening. For a smaller volume, a shared load is an affordable option, for example for young families with few belongings: your goods travel together with other consignments. Delivery then comes within a time window – plan childcare accordingly.

planning to assembly
With moving with children, appointments come on top of furniture and boxes: registering within two weeks of moving in (§ 17 BMG), a nursery or school place at the new home and, for both, proof of measles protection (§ 20 Abs. 9 IfSG). Involving children actively in the move
Children feel more secure when they know what lies ahead. Explain to them early on why the move is happening and what will change for them. Let older children pack and label their own boxes – this gives them a sense of responsibility and control over their things.
For younger children, a special “emergency bag” with a favourite toy, cuddly toy and snacks that is close at hand on moving day is a good idea. That way a little familiarity remains despite the chaos, while our team handles the furniture transport professionally.
Moving day itself: how to keep it relaxed
Ideally, arrange childcare for younger children on moving day so that they are not right in the middle of the hustle and bustle. A familiar person, grandparents or friends can keep the children busy and distracted in the meantime. That way you can concentrate fully on coordinating with our moving team.
Plan enough breaks and make sure there is enough food and drink, because a move is tiring for children too. Our staff work quickly and in a structured way, so that the change of home stays as short and stress-free as possible for the whole family.

Moving costs do not have to be complicated. Our prices: 1-room flat from €339, 2-room flat from €605, 3-room flat from €915, 4-room flat from €1,269. For a house or villa there is an individual quote, and for long-distance moves we charge from €3.80/km. We are happy to clarify everything else during a free survey.

Every move is different – so the price depends heavily on the volume and the distance (from €3.80/km). The floor, lift and a possible parking restriction zone also affect the calculation. We are also happy to advise you on furniture assembly and a shared load.
