What
to clarify before moving to Pardubice
Before the move it is worth looking at the districts of Pardubice: close to the centre you live in Zelené Předměstí next to the old town, while many flats in larger housing estates can be found in Polabiny and Dubina. Also clarify early whether you are taking a car – the city's vehicle register works with online appointments. Household appliances from Germany run in Czechia on the same mains voltage of 230 volts. We are happy to advise you on packing lists and interim storage so that your start on the Elbe is a success.

Frequently asked questions about moving to Pardubice
Zelené Předměstí, Polabiny, Dubina: Pardubice by district
Pardubice is divided into eight districts (Pardubice I to VIII). Pardubice I includes the historic Staré Město (old town) with Pernštýnské náměstí and the castle, as well as Zelené Předměstí close to the centre. Period flats in the old town often have narrow stairwells and little space for the removal van – bear this in mind when planning.
Polabiny and Cihelna (Pardubice II) as well as Dubina (Pardubice III) are characterised by larger housing estates, with many flats in blocks with lifts. Svítkov (Pardubice VI) lies in the west of the city. Which district suits you depends mainly on where you work, as industrial companies such as Synthesia in the Semtín area are located outside the centre.
Employers, university and everyday life in Pardubice
Pardubice is an industrial city: major companies include the chemicals group Synthesia, the Paramo refinery (part of Unipetrol), Explosia in Semtín and plants of Foxconn and Panasonic. The University of Pardubice has seven faculties and around 10,500 students; it is particularly known for chemistry and transport. Actual rents vary greatly by district and condition – compare current listings on Czech property portals.
In everyday life, the castle, the banks of the Elbe and the Velká pardubická horse race shape the townscape; the course is 6,900 m long and has 31 obstacles. Pardubice lies on the Česká Třebová–Prague railway line, and the capital is around 100 km away. If you work in Prague and want to live somewhere quieter, check the commuting time before you start looking for a flat.

Parking, access and street cleaning when moving in Pardubice
When moving to Pardubice, the parking spot outside the building often determines the schedule. According to pardubice.eu, the city divides paid parking into zones A, B and C as well as the B2 area for long-term visitors. Payment is made at the machine, by SMS or via an app; details are provided by the transport company Dopravní podnik města Pardubic. A price list for 2026 and a methodology for allocating parking permits have been published, but the overview page does not give any amounts. For individual streets, including Palackého třída, Smilova and Havlíčkova, changes are listed from 7 September 2026.
You should clarify two points in advance:
- Street cleaning: the city provides the 2026 schedule as a table and sends out the streets for the coming week every Friday via a WhatsApp channel. Check your street so that the lorry does not run into a cleaning date.
- Closures and special applications: current closures for Pardubice are shown on dopravniinfo.cz. The Odbor dopravy (transport department) provides forms, including for an exemption from local or temporary traffic regulations and for reserved parking spaces. Whether your move needs one of these applications depends on the street; clarify this with the department early on.
We coordinate access with you before the transport date. Read more about the route from Berlin under our long-distance move; for a comparison, see the guide to moving to Prague.
Registration, vehicle register and toll when moving to Pardubice
According to europa.eu, as an EU citizen you may stay for the first three months without a residence document; after that, registration may be required. For Czechia, the ipc.gov.cz website states: anyone staying longer than 30 days reports their place of residence to the relevant foreign police department, according to the English version within 30 working days of arrival. You need to bring a travel document and the registration form. An exception applies, among other cases, if registration has already been made via the accommodation provider.
If you bring a car, the city's vehicle register is important: according to pardubice.eu, it has been located at Štrossova 44 since 26 October 2026, and appointments can be reserved online. Ask there which documents apply to a foreign vehicle; europa.eu only points out that re-registration in the destination country may be necessary.
On tolls: according to edalnice.gov.cz, four-wheeled vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes need an electronic vignette; for heavier vehicles the site refers to the electronic toll at myto.gov.cz. For the removal lorry, the vehicle class is therefore decisive, which we check before departure.
Old furniture before moving out or in? According to pardubice.eu, the city relies on regularly provided large containers, whose dates and locations are set by the city districts, as well as on the sorting yards of Služby města Pardubic. If you need help clearing out, you will find it with our house clearance service.
