Moving to Opole: districts, registration and the route
Arriving well
A move to Opole takes you to the capital of the Opole Voivodeship on the Oder – with an old town around the Rynek (market square), two universities and Bolko Island. Beste Umzug Unternehmen organises your home move from packing to furniture assembly in your new flat. We are based in Berlin, and the route is around 429 km long. Within the EU, no customs duty applies to household goods; what matters is registering after you move in.
We state the fixed price after the survey, whether you are moving to the centre of Opole or to the quieter outer districts. Our liability is under the German Commercial Code (HGB), and additional insurance for valuable items is available. Collection is in Berlin or, by arrangement, at another location in Germany. Call us on 01625978461 for an individual quote.

What a move to Opole involves
Old town, prefab block, new build
In Opole the range stretches from the lanes of the old town to the prefab estates in Malinka. During the survey we clarify the floor, lift and access; the city does not name an official procedure for reserved parking areas, so we coordinate access with the traffic management department. We state the fixed price after the survey. Our liability is under the HGB (§ 451e: €620 per m³), and additional insurance is available. You will receive a checklist for registration.

What
comes after moving in
When moving to Opole, you should plan your registration at the Urząd Miasta (city office) early: EU citizens register no later than the 30th day after moving in, and appointments are available online via opole.pl/rezerwacja. Then there are electricity and internet contracts. The district also plays a role, depending on whether you want to be close to the university or the old town. Our home move service takes care of furniture and kitchen assembly on request. That leaves you time for the official errands.

Frequently asked questions about living in and moving to Opole
Opole's districts at a glance
Opole is divided into districts with very different characters. Śródmieście (the centre) offers historic architecture, the Rynek and short distances to shops and cafés, but is usually the most expensive location. Zaodrze, on the other side of the Oder, is close to Bolko Island and popular with families.
Nowa Wieś Królewska is in demand among students, because university buildings and halls of residence are not far away. If you want to live more cheaply, take a look at Gosławice or Szczepanowice-Wójtowa Wieś with newer housing developments; prefab blocks shape districts such as Malinka.
Job market, education and quality of life
In and around Opole, many people work in industry, energy and chemicals: the Opole power station stands near Brzezie on the edge of the city, and there is a large chemicals site in Kędzierzyn-Koźle, around 40 km away. The University of Opole and the Politechnika Opolska (University of Technology) attract students and are themselves important employers.
The quality of life shows in short distances and culture, above all in the amphitheatre, venue of the National Festival of Polish Song. Green spaces such as Bolko Island with its zoo make the city family-friendly. Wrocław (Breslau) is just under 100 km away.
Moving prices by flat size
From a 1-room flat from €349 to a 4-room flat from €1,324 – this is how the base prices for a move to Opole are scaled. 2-room flats start at €615, 3-room flats at €899. For houses or villas we prepare an individual quote, and long-distance moves cost from €3.80/km. We state the exact price after a free survey.

Registering your residence in Opole: Wydział Spraw Obywatelskich and appointments
Anyone moving from Germany to Opole (Oppeln) registers in Poland at the Urząd Miasta (city office). According to opole.pl, registration matters are handled by the residents' and ID cards unit in the Wydział Spraw Obywatelskich (civil affairs department), at the Centrum Usług Publicznych, ul. Witolda Pileckiego 1, 45-331 Opole. You can reach it by phone on 77 54 11 357, 77 54 11 355 or 77 54 11 361. The city receives visitors using a ticket system; you can book an appointment online via opole.pl/rezerwacja. Forms are available as PDFs in the PeUP system: print and fill them in, then submit them electronically or in person.
The deadlines are set by Polish registration law. According to gov.pl, EU citizens must register no later than the 30th day after moving in; anyone staying less than 30 days is exempt. Registration is free of charge. EU citizens can also do it online, with a Profil Zaufany (trusted profile) or a qualified electronic signature and a mobile phone. You should bring:
- a valid passport or other ID document
- proof of your right to use the flat, for example a tenancy agreement
- the completed registration form
We explain vehicles, customs and the route in our article Moving to Poland: customs and process.
Opole: traffic management, tolls and vehicle re-registration
For questions about traffic organisation, the City of Opole's phone directory lists the Referat Zarządzania Ruchem (traffic management unit) in the Wydział Transportu i Zarządzania Ruchem, ul. Piastowska 17, 45-081 Opole (Budynek Instytutu Śląskiego). It can be reached on 77 44 38 720, 77 44 38 721 or 77 44 38 730. opole.pl does not name an official procedure for reserving space for removal vehicles, so clarify access to the destination address with the unit early.
Tolls: According to etoll.gov.pl, Poland levies an electronic toll (e-TOLL) on heavy vehicles on the GDDKiA toll sections. You register in the system, enter the vehicles and choose the payment method. We take this into account when planning the route.
Re-registering a vehicle: Vehicles are registered at the Referat Komunikacji of the Wydział Spraw Obywatelskich, Centrum Usług Publicznych, ul. Witolda Pileckiego 1; phone 77 45 11 900 or 77 54 11 301. Book appointments via rezerwacja.opole.pl. The city's page does not give deadlines for imported vehicles, so ask about them by phone in advance.
Deregistering in Germany: Under § 17 of the Federal Registration Act (Bundesmeldegesetz), within two weeks of moving out, at the earliest one week beforehand. Further information is available in Long-distance move to Poland: process and tips and on our page about international moves.
