Furniture transport checklist: from four weeks before to afterwards

Tick off

Unsere Firma Professional on-site moving solutions with secure planning, flexible services and on-time execution.

A good furniture transport starts weeks before the actual moving day with a list: which furniture comes along, which is dismantled, where will the vehicle park? On moving day our teams wrap the furniture in transport blankets, corner protectors and tension straps so that wardrobes, sofas and tables arrive at the destination without scratches. For bulky and heavy pieces we also plan carrying straps and enough movers. The checklist on this page shows what you prepare yourself and what we take care of.

Our staff carry, lift and load furniture of every size; for your private move we bring lifting straps, sack trucks and furniture dollies. We are liable for damage to household goods under the HGB, by law up to €620 per cubic metre of load space. Jewellery, cash and important documents therefore belong on your own checklist – they travel with you, not in the removal van.

Four stages of the checklist

What is due when

The checklist divides the furniture transport into four stages. What we take over – parking restriction zone, packing, dismantling and reassembly – is set out in the quote from Beste Umzug Unternehmen. You do the rest yourself, ideally in the order of the list, so that nothing is left undone on moving day. We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21); we set the price after the survey, and we are liable for damage under the rules of the HGB.

Four weeks before

Book the date firmly and apply for the parking restriction zone – in Berlin processing takes around four weeks.

One week before

Measure doors, stairwell and lift, check the furniture list, have packing material ready and pack valuables separately.

The day before

Empty wardrobes, put small parts in labelled bags, take photos of valuable furniture. The no-parking signs must now be in place.

After the move

Check the furniture: report visible damage no later than the day after delivery, hidden damage within 14 days (§ 451f HGB).
NOTHING FORGOTTEN

Six points that are often missing

The moving company's liability is not based on the value of your furniture but on the load space: up to €620 per cubic metre (§ 451e HGB). For valuable items, photos and an inventory list are therefore worthwhile.

01

Measurements

Measure the sofa, wardrobe and bed and compare them with doors, stairwell and lift. That way you find out early what needs to be dismantled.
02

Screws

Put screws and fittings in labelled bags and tape them to the piece of furniture. That way no part is left over.
03

Photos

Photos of valuable furniture before the transport help if damage is disputed. A photo of the wiring behind the television saves time later.
04

Parking

Without a parking ban, the vehicle often has to park far away. In Berlin the signs must be up three full days in advance – apply in good time.
05

Keys

Clarify who has keys for the front door, cellar and lift – at the old and at the new address.
06

Valuables

Jewellery, cash, documents and hard drives travel with you, not in the removal van – liability for them is heavily restricted by law.
SMALL LOAD

Short list? Consider a shared load

Share the cargo space, cut the costs
A shared load fits when your furniture list is short: individual pieces of furniture, appliances or a few boxes travel with other orders on the same route. Two things change on the checklist – you agree a time window instead of a fixed day, and everything is packed, labelled and ready until collection.

Everything
for your move

Everything around your move

The furniture transport is a central component of every move, whether it concerns a few single items or a complete flat furnishing. Especially important in this are the correct disassembly of furniture, suitable packaging material and a well-thought-out loading plan. The transport logistics too plays a decisive role, so time windows are kept and waiting times minimised. Our checklist helps you to think of all important details and to avoid typical mistakes.

Planning safe and relaxed

A good checklist coordinates dates, helpers and materials early. That way your home move, senior move or student move in Berlin stays transparent, structured and markedly easier to control.

Furniture, boxes, transport routes

With a suitable packing service, careful furniture transport and a flexible small transport, ways can be shortened, damage avoided and even narrow approaches in Berlin managed cleanly in logistical terms.

Costs, timing and special cases

Clear time windows and suitable solutions for an office move, company move, authority move, part load or furniture taxi create reliable processes and better plannable total costs in Berlin.

Questions about the furniture transport checklist

Duration, dismantling, packing and damage – what you should know beforehand.
The cost of a furniture transport depends on distance, amount of furniture, floor and the staff required. At Beste Umzug Unternehmen you receive an individual fixed-price quote with no hidden extra costs. Simply call us on 01625978461 or send us your furniture list for an initial assessment.

Preparation: this is how your furniture transport succeeds from the start

Structured preparation is the key to a stress-free furniture transport. At least two weeks before the moving date, decide which furniture needs to be dismantled because it cannot be transported in one piece. Sort screws and small parts into labelled bags and attach them directly to the relevant piece of furniture. This prevents mix-ups and saves valuable time during reassembly.

Also measure all door frames, stairwells and lifts to spot transport problems early. This check is essential especially for a private move in old buildings with narrow hallways. For the parking space directly in front of the building, apply for a parking restriction zone (Halteverbotszone) – in Berlin around four weeks in advance; the signs must be up three full days before the date. With this thorough preparation, the actual transport day goes much more smoothly.

Process and costs: this is what awaits you in the furniture transport

The typical process of a furniture transport starts with an on-site survey or an assessment by phone, followed by a transparent fixed-price quote. On moving day itself, the furniture is professionally packed, protected and securely stowed in our removal van. It is then transported to the new address, where our staff professionally reassemble and position everything. Depending on the amount of furniture, the whole process takes between a few hours and a full day.

The cost of a furniture transport depends on factors such as distance, floor, amount of furniture and the staff required. A long-distance move over several hundred kilometres naturally costs more than a local transport. With the fixed price after a survey, however, you know from the start exactly what amount to expect. Additional services such as packing material or furniture assembly can optionally be booked.

Price overview for your move

The cost of a move depends heavily on the size of the flat: we move a 1-room flat from as little as €344, while a 2-room flat is charged from €615. For a 3-room flat prices start at €915, and for larger 4-room flats from €1,309. For a house or villa we prepare an individual quote. If you are moving further away, long-distance moves cost from €3.95/km. It is best to arrange a free survey to find out the exact price.

What does the price of your move depend on?

Besides the pure volume of your household goods, the distance (from €3.95/km) above all determines the total cost. Other factors are the floor of the flat and whether there is a lift. For a smooth process, a parking restriction zone is also advisable, which we are happy to organise for you – complemented by a shared load or furniture assembly.
