PLANNING BY THE CLOCK

Planning a summer move

Moving day in high summer – hour by hour

Start early

Unsere Firma Planning a summer move by the clock: heavy furniture in the morning, assembly at midday, the last boxes in the cooler evening.

With a move in summer, the time of day often matters more than the number of helpers. Early in the morning the stairwell, street and load bed are still cool, everyone is fresh and the roads are quieter. If you schedule the heaviest items – wardrobes, washing machine, sofa – for these hours, you will have done the most strenuous part before the heat rises. With Beste Umzug Unternehmen you fix the start time during the survey, to suit the no-parking zone (Halteverbotszone), floor and route.

A common misconception: that the late afternoon is the cooler alternative. In fact, the highest temperatures are often only reached between 4 and 5 pm. So plan light work in the shade for the afternoon, such as unpacking boxes or fitting lamps. We quote the fixed price after the survey; your belongings are covered by liability under the German Commercial Code (HGB). You can find out more about the process in our private move services. Call us on 01625978461 and discuss your preferred date.

How we plan a moving day in the heat

Heavy in the morning, light in the afternoon

A summer move succeeds when the order is right. That is why, during the survey, we discuss not only the volume and floor but also the time: when will the no-parking zone be in place, when is the lift free, which furniture has to go out first? We carry heavy items in the cool morning hours, boxes follow, and we do assembly work inside the flat when it is hottest outside. We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and work at a fixed price after a survey. Destinations with their own page can be found in the locations overview.

Early start

If you start early, the heavy furniture is carried at pleasant temperatures. We fix the start time together with you during the survey.

Loading order

Wardrobes and large appliances first, then boxes: a clear order shortens the time furniture stands on the street in the sun.

Assembly in the shade

Dismantling and assembly take place inside the flat. We schedule this work for the hot hours, when nobody should be carrying outside any more – assembly included.

No-parking zone

In Berlin the zone must be signposted at least 72 hours in advance. We align the time window on the signs with your early start.

Six rules for a hot moving day

A moving day in high summer follows different rules from one in autumn. These six points help you make use of the cool hours and bridge the hot ones – whether you move with us or lend a hand yourself with friends and only hire the van.

01

Fix the start time

Start as early as possible so that the heaviest items are in the van before the heat. Agree the time with your neighbours and the property management.
02

Heavy first

Wardrobes, washing machine and sofa belong in the first hour. Boxes are lighter and can still be carried easily later in the day.
03

Check the forecast

If the German Weather Service (Deutscher Wetterdienst) warns of severe heat (a perceived temperature above roughly 32 °C), an even earlier start or a conversation about an alternative date is worthwhile.
04

Indoors at midday

At midday the work is done inside the flat: assembling furniture, connecting lamps, filling the kitchen cupboards – all tasks without direct sun.
05

Plan for late afternoon

The highest temperatures are often reached between 4 and 5 pm. Plan breaks or light work then instead of heavy carrying.
06

Finish in the evening

After sunset it cools down noticeably. Then the last boxes from the car or the cellar can be carried comfortably – without any midday heat.
SMALL LOADS

Part load: keep the time window in mind

Small quantities, shared trip

With a part load, you share the load space with other orders on the same route. The collection time then depends on the route. Allow some leeway and have your belongings ready in the cool hallway, not on the street.

SUMMER MOVE

All
about the schedule

When what gets done

Alongside the time of day on moving day, the planning beforehand counts: apply for the no-parking zone in good time, reserve the lift with the property management, align helpers and vehicle on the same early start. Saturdays are in particularly high demand in summer; a weekday often offers more choice of start time. For long distances: set off early and plan in the statutory driving breaks – more on this in the long-distance moves section.

Before moving day

Applying for the no-parking zone, reserving the lift, informing neighbours: a checklist with dates ensures that your private move, senior move or student move starts on time in the morning without waiting.

On the morning of the move

With a packing service the day before, swift furniture transport in the first hours and a small transport for leftovers in the evening, the heavy loads stay in the cool part of the day.

Special cases

For an office move or company move, many move the transport to early morning or the weekend; a part load and the furniture taxi follow fixed routes – ask about the time window.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about timing a summer move

Answers on start time, midday heat, the no-parking zone, how much to drink and booking in summer.
The warm season usually offers dry weather, long days and holiday time, which makes the moving date easier to plan. Many families use the school holidays for the move, which is why Saturdays in particular are booked up early. If you ask in good time, you have more choice of date and start time.

Early start: making use of the cool morning hours

The early morning hours are best suited to a summer move: temperatures are lower, the stairwell and load bed have not yet heated up, and heavy work is easier. So schedule wardrobes, large appliances and sofas for the first hour.

The late afternoon, on the other hand, is not a good alternative: the highest temperatures are often only reached between 4 and 5 pm, and it usually only gets cooler in the evening. Our team at Beste Umzug Unternehmen agrees the start time with you during the survey.

Midday: do not leave furniture waiting on the street

Around midday the sun is at its highest and UV radiation is at its strongest. During this time, furniture and boxes should not wait on the pavement for the next carrying trip: varnish, plastic and electronics suffer in direct sun. Load quickly in one go and cover furniture with blankets.

With a long-distance move, the journey is best started straight after loading in the morning. Your belongings are covered by liability under the German Commercial Code (HGB) (§ 451e: €620 per m³); additional insurance is possible on request.

What determines the price on moving day

The distance is charged from €4.20/km, while the volume determines the basic time required. The floor and lift affect the carrying time, and a no-parking zone the loading time. A part load is also possible and can reduce costs.
