Maastricht guide

Moving to Maastricht: old town, university and the banks of the Maas

Guide

Unsere Firma comes from Berlin-Moabit (Stromstraße 21) and brings your household goods around 667 km to Maastricht.

A move to Maastricht takes you to the capital of the Dutch province of Limburg, on both banks of the Maas between Belgium and Germany. This is where the Maastricht Treaty, which founded the EU, was signed in 1992. The entire centre, including the Wyck quarter, is a listed conservation area, the streets are narrow and the pedestrian area has fixed loading times. That is why we clarify access, floor and parking permit before moving day.

Whether it is an old building in the Jekerkwartier, a flat in Wyck or a house in one of the outer neighbourhoods: we come from Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and drive around 667 km via Aachen. Within the EU there are no customs formalities for household goods. We quote the fixed price after the survey; details on long routes are under Long-distance moves and further destinations under Locations.

PERSONAL ADVICE

Your quote for Maastricht – after a survey

See first, then calculate

What your move to Maastricht costs depends on volume, floor, access and the roughly 667 km route. We look at your household goods – at your home in Berlin or by video – and then quote a written fixed price, whether the destination is in Wyck or in the Jekerkwartier.

Offers available individually, depending on effort, scheduling and the scope of services required.

FROM BERLIN-MOABIT

Our part in your move to Maastricht

From Moabit to Maastricht

We have no branch in Maastricht; instead we come by lorry from Berlin-Moabit (Stromstraße 21). That is why we ask about access, floor and stairwell in advance – whether it is a flat in Wyck or a house in the Jekerkwartier. A temporary parking permit for the move is available by appointment at the Gemeenteloket (municipal counter); fixed loading times apply in the pedestrian area – we clarify both with you in advance. We are liable for your belongings under § 451e HGB at €620 per cubic metre, and additional insurance is available. Places with their own pages are listed under Locations.

Packing service

We pack boxes so they stack firmly and label them by room, so that in Maastricht every item ends up in the right room – with our packing service.

Office move

Practices, offices and law firms move to plan: dismantling on Friday in Berlin, setting up in Maastricht by arrangement – with an office move.

Senior moves

When moving into a smaller flat in Maastricht, we help with sorting out and set up the most important furniture first – with a move for seniors.

Furniture transport

Single items such as a sofa, piano or antique travel padded to Maastricht and are set up there – with furniture transport.
HOW WE PLAN

Our moving services at a glance

After the survey you receive a fixed price for Maastricht in which the journey (around 667 km), packing, parking permit and assembly are listed separately – so you can see what you are paying for.

01

Date confirmed

With around 9.5 hours on the road by lorry, we fix the loading and arrival times in advance so that you can make a firm arrangement for the handover in Maastricht.
02

Access sorted

A flat in Wyck or a house in the Jekerkwartier: we ask about floor, lift and stairs in advance – so there are enough movers for your move to Maastricht.
03

Parking space secured

We clarify the parking permit at the Gemeenteloket, loading times in the pedestrian area and the zero-emission zone in advance, so that the lorry may stop in front of your new flat.
04

Deadlines in view

We plan backwards from moving-in day: notice in Berlin, packing dates, parking permit and the journey timed to match the handover in Maastricht.
05

Storage to bridge a gap

If your flat in Maastricht is not yet available, we store your belongings in the meantime by arrangement and deliver on the new date.
06

Assembled on arrival day

Beds and wardrobes are up on arrival day, the boxes are in the right rooms – and you have time to register with the Gemeente in Maastricht.
SHARED LOAD SPACE

Save with a part load

Small move, small price

A part load is worth it if only a little needs to go to Maastricht: your items use free load space on a tour heading that way. You pay less than for a lorry of your own, but need to be flexible on the delivery day. Well packed, single items travel safely too.

move, our craft

Well planned and reliable

Before moving to Maastricht, it is worth looking at the typical steps: registering with the Gemeente (municipality) within five days, the citizen service number, the parking permit at the Gemeenteloket and the loading times in the pedestrian area. Because small flats are in demand in the university city, early planning with a fixed moving date is advisable. This guide also presents the seven districts, from the Centrum with Wyck to Randwyck.

Planning safely and calmly

With a schedule planned backwards from moving-in day – notice, parking permit, packing dates, registration with the Gemeente – your home move, move for seniors or student move to Maastricht stays manageable.

Furniture, boxes, carrying routes

With a packing service, careful furniture transport and a parking space sorted out in advance, furniture reaches the house without long carrying distances when you move to Maastricht, even in Wyck or in the Jekerkwartier. We secure heavy items such as a piano or wall unit with blankets and straps for the whole journey.

Costs, timing and special cases

Costs depend on volume, floor and the roughly 667 km route; for small quantities a part load lowers the price. Parking permit and any storage in Maastricht are included in the fixed price. For businesses we plan an office move or company relocation with fixed time windows.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about moving to Maastricht

What you should know before moving to Maastricht – brief answers.
The cost of a move to Maastricht depends on the size of your home, the floor, access and the route – from Berlin it is around 667 km. Our guide prices by number of rooms and the price per kilometre are in the price overview above. After a free survey you receive a binding fixed price; enquiries on 01625978461.

The seven districts of Maastricht

Officially, Maastricht consists of seven districts (wijken) with 44 neighbourhoods (buurten). The Centrum includes the Binnenstad, Jekerkwartier, Kommelkwartier, Statenkwartier and Wyck on the east side of the Maas. In the south-west lie Villapark, Jekerdal, Biesland, Campagne, Wolder and Sint Pieter, and in the west Mariaberg, Caberg and Daalhof, among others.

In the east come Wyckerpoort, Wittevrouwenveld, Nazareth, Scharn and Amby, and in the south-east Randwyck, Heugem and Heer. In the north, the villages of Borgharen and Itteren also belong to the municipality. For the move, the specific address is what counts: an old building in the centre needs different planning from a house in Amby. Our home move service adapts to this.

University, administration and border location: who moves to Maastricht

Maastricht is the seat of the provincial government of Limburg and of a district court. Then there are Maastricht University and several colleges, including art academies, a conservatoire and a hotel school. Many students come from abroad – so small flats are correspondingly in demand. We do not quote specific rents; they depend heavily on the neighbourhood and condition.

The city borders Flanders and Wallonia, and Liège lies around 25 km to the south. After moving in, you register with the Gemeente if you are staying longer than four months – according to the Rijksoverheid (Dutch government), within five days, free of charge, and you are issued a citizen service number (BSN). So plan the appointment before the move.

Your move – your price

Every move is different – that is why our prices depend on the size of your home: 1 room from €365, 2 rooms from €579, 3 rooms from €884 and 4 rooms from €1,344. For houses and villas we prepare an individual quote. If you are moving to another city, we charge long-distance moves from €3.85/km. Arrange a free survey today.

Moving costs in detail

From the amount of household goods (volume) and the distance (from €3.85/km) to the floor with or without a lift – all of this affects the final price. A parking restriction zone also helps make moving day efficient. Further services such as furniture assembly or a part load round off the quote.

Your move – our job

We take on every task around your move – professionally and with care.

More destinations, one start: Berlin

We plan moves from Berlin (Stromstraße 21) for private and business customers. The locations overview lists places with their own pages, and details on long routes are under long-distance moves. We also plan moves in the opposite direction, to Berlin, with a survey and a fixed price.

Maastricht: parking, the pedestrian area and a parkeervergunning for the move

In the centre of Maastricht, the pedestrian area is closed to cars and lorries at certain times. According to the municipality of Maastricht, loading and unloading there is possible in the morning from 7 to 11 am and in the evening from 6 to 11 pm. The page refers to older rules, so we confirm the current times directly with the municipality before your move.

According to the municipality, private individuals cannot simply apply for a temporary parking permit for themselves. Exceptions apply, among other cases, to a move or to loading and unloading heavy items such as furniture. In that case you book an appointment at the Gemeenteloket (afspraak.maastricht.nl); the municipality assesses each case individually and decides where you may park. The permit is valid for up to three weeks and can be extended. Companies apply by email to [email protected]; sending it by post takes at least five working days.

For 2026, the municipality lists 20.86 euros per day for the temporary permit in the Binnenstad sector and 10.43 euros per day in the rest of the area. Check with the Gemeenteloket whether your street in Centrum, Wyck or Céramique is in the Binnenstad sector.

More on the route is in the guide to a long-distance move to Maastricht, and tips on the parking space in the guide to the parking restriction zone.

Maastricht: zero-emission zone and registering with the municipality

Since 1 January 2025, a zero-emission zone (Zero-Emissiezone) has applied in Maastricht's Binnenstad. According to the municipality, vans and lorries with petrol, diesel or LPG engines and a low emission class (below class 5) may no longer enter; you must apply for exemptions yourself via the RDW (Dutch vehicle authority). The RDW lists a separate exemption for removal vehicles: the vehicle must be less than 13 years old, the fee is 100 euros and processing can take up to eight weeks. Without a decision, the zone may not be entered; alternatively there is a day exemption. We check which solution suits your date before planning.

After moving in, you register with the municipality. According to the Rijksoverheid, if you are staying for more than four months you must have yourself entered in the BRP (Personal Records Database) within 5 days of arrival; registration is free of charge. A partner and children moving with you must come to the town hall too. There you receive your citizen service number (BSN), if you do not already have one.

  • Request an appointment with the municipality before the move
  • Have a valid ID ready for every person
  • Bring your tenancy agreement or proof of your new address
