Moving to Almere: Costs Process & Districts

Almere guide
Moving to Almere: six districts, one polder
Districts, costs, process
Almere is not an old town that grew over centuries but a planned city: the first core, Almere Haven, was built from 1975, followed by Almere Stad with the town hall and centre on the Weerwater, Almere Buiten, Almere Hout and Almere Poort; Almere Pampus is still being developed. For your move this means: many terraced houses and new builds, wide streets, separate bus lanes – but also parking zones in Stad and Buiten. What we handle with a home removal is set out on the service page.
From Berlin-Moabit it is around 647 km via the A2, A30 and the Dutch A1; the city itself lies on the A6 and the A27. There are no customs within the EU. We come from Berlin, have no branch in the Netherlands and plan packing, transport and reassembly from a single source; the route is described in the long-distance move overview. Interim storage in Berlin is possible if the flat becomes available later.

Frequently asked questions about moving to Almere
Almere's districts at a glance
Almere Stad is the centre, with the town hall, shopping streets and the Weerwater lake; it is divided into Stad Centrum, Stad Oost and Stad West. Almere Haven on the Gooimeer is the oldest district and was built from 1975. Almere Buiten in the north has its own shopping centre and a station with an Intercity stop.
Almere Poort in the west has been growing for years and has its own station towards Amsterdam. In Almere Hout, Vogelhorst was the first settlement, and a lot of building is going on there today. Almere Pampus is still in planning; its residents are so far counted as part of Almere Stad. Which part suits you usually depends on your commute.
Living, commuting and transport in Almere
With around 232,000 inhabitants, Almere is the largest municipality in the province of Flevoland and lies between Amsterdam and Lelystad. Many residents commute: the Weesp–Lelystad railway line connects the city's six stations with Amsterdam and Utrecht, while on the road the A6 leads out of the city over the Hollandse Brug and the A27 over the Stichtse Brug.
Within the city, transport routes are strictly separated: buses run on their own lanes with priority at traffic lights, and cycle paths run separately from car traffic. For the removal van this means wide streets, but parking rules that depend on the zone. Rents and purchase prices change quickly; you will find current listings on Dutch housing portals, and we deliberately do not give a figure here. For registration, only the signed contract counts anyway.
How our moving prices are structured
Whether a 1-room flat from €369 or a 4-room flat from €1,269 – our prices are based on the actual effort. 2-room flats from €599 and 3-room flats from €889 are also fairly calculated. For houses and villas there is an individual quote, and we charge long-distance moves from €3.85/km. Arrange your free survey today.
How your moving price is composed
First of all, the volume of your furniture and boxes plays a decisive role. Then there is the distance, charged from €3.85/km. The floor and lift also affect the effort, while a parking restriction zone (Halteverbotszone) shortens loading times. If needed, we add furniture assembly or shared load.

Almere: parking zones and space for the removal van
We have not found a dedicated page on almere.nl for reserving a space for removal vehicles. The parking page of the Gemeente Almere lists parking permits, the visitor scheme and parking rates, but does not mention moves. So ask the municipality's parking service early; according to almere.nl it can be reached on 14 036, from abroad on +31 36 539 99 11.
You should nevertheless know how parking in Almere is organised. According to almere.nl, there are permit zones (vergunningszones, residents' zones) in Almere Stad and Almere Buiten, a blue zone (blauwe zone) only in Almere Buiten, and paid on-street parking with ticket machines in zones of Almere Stad and Almere Buiten. There are multi-storey car parks in Almere Stad, Almere Buiten and Almere Haven. According to the municipality, the visitor scheme (bezoekersregeling) is aimed at residents in the centre of Almere Stad or Almere Buiten; visits are registered via the "Bezoekersapp P1" app. The zone overview does not list the centre of Almere Stad separately; the parking service will confirm which zone your street belongs to.
In practice this means: give us the exact destination address and, if known, the parking zone when we prepare the quote. That way we can plan the approach and unloading time better. On the parking question on the German side, see also our page on the parking restriction zone.
Almere: registering from Germany and bulky waste
If you move to Almere from abroad, according to almere.nl you report your arrival within 5 working days. This can only be done in person at the Stadhuis (Stadhuisplein 1, 1315 HR Almere); you book the appointment online or on 14 036. Everyone who is registering comes to the appointment. Bring a valid ID and proof of residence: a purchase contract, rental contract or, if subletting from a private individual, the rental contract with a copy of the owner's ID. If you move in with someone, you need the main occupant's consent declaration with a copy of their ID. Those born abroad bring their original birth certificate with legalisation or an apostille. According to the municipality, certificates in Dutch, English, German or French do not need a sworn translation.
The bulky waste scheme helps when sorting out: according to almere.nl, bulky waste (grofvuil) is collected free of charge after booking online (waiting time about three weeks); alternatively there are recycling drop-off points (recyclingperrons). Residents of Almere Stad Centrum and the Staatsliedenwijk do not need an appointment. Items are put out from 20:00 the evening before, and by 07:30 on collection day at the latest. Each bundle may weigh a maximum of 25 kg and be 1.5 m long, with no more than 1.5 m³ in total. Further tips can be found in our guide Living in Almere and in the long-distance move overview for Almere.
