From Berlin to Pilsen: 441 km one team, one schedule

Planning and route
Long-distance move to Pilsen: route, toll and paperwork
From the survey to unloading
A move to Pilsen is a long-distance move to another EU country – but without customs clearance. From our depot in Berlin-Moabit (Stromstraße 21) it is 441 km by road: via the A13 to Dresden, the A17 to the border, the D8 to Prague and from there west on the D5. With the statutory breaks, a lorry can cover the route in one working day. We plan your move from the survey in Berlin to unloading in Pilsen with one team and then give you a fixed price that includes toll and driving time.
Our private move services include packing, transport and furniture assembly in Pilsen. Because Czechia has been part of the EU since 2004, there is no customs clearance; what matters is deregistering in Germany, registering in Czechia and, if applicable, registering your car. For the lorry, we factor in the electronic toll in Czechia, and the drivers comply with EU driving and rest periods. This way you know in advance when the van will arrive in Pilsen.

How your long-distance move to Pilsen works
Four steps, one team
First we survey your flat in Berlin – on site or by video – and record volume, floors and special items. You then receive the quote with a fixed price and date. On moving day we pack and load, drive via Dresden and Prague to Pilsen and reassemble the furniture in your new flat. Our liability for your belongings is governed by the German Commercial Code (HGB); we discuss additional insurance for valuable items in advance. We check the parking zone at your destination address before the appointment and tell you in advance when the van is expected to arrive in Pilsen.

Schedule
for your move to Pilsen
A good schedule for your move to Pilsen starts about eight weeks beforehand: survey and quote, then giving notice on your Berlin flat and clarifying whether a car or pet is coming along. Two weeks before the date, we check the parking zone at the destination address. After moving out, you deregister in Berlin within two weeks; in Czechia, registration with the police's foreigners' department follows. We are happy to advise you on packing lists, interim storage and choosing the date.

Common questions
No customs, but paperwork: formalities for Pilsen
As Czechia has been a member of the European Union since 2004, there is no customs clearance for your household goods when moving to Pilsen. Your own inventory list with photos is still useful, for example in the event of an insurance claim. Keep your identity card or passport, the deregistration confirmation from Germany and – if a car is coming along – the vehicle documents to hand. Dogs, cats and ferrets need a microchip, a valid rabies vaccination and the EU pet passport to enter.
After arrival: according to the Czech foreign police (ipc.gov.cz), EU citizens staying longer than 30 days report their place of residence to the foreign police (Cizinecká policie) – according to the English version within 30 working days. Whether and when you have to register your car in Czechia is governed by the Czech authorities; there are no common EU deadlines for this. Our team points out these steps to you during planning so that your long-distance move abroad runs smoothly.
The route: 441 km via Dresden and Prague
With around 181,000 inhabitants, Pilsen is the fourth-largest city in Czechia and lies around 70 km from the German border at Waidhaus/Rozvadov. From Berlin, however, the shortest route is not via Bavaria: the lorry drives via the A13 to Dresden, on the A17 to the border, on the D8 to Prague and then around 90 km on the D5 to Pilsen – 441 km in total. With the breaks required under EU law, this can be done in one working day; for large volumes we load the day before.
The typical process of a long-distance move to Pilsen: survey and quote, packing your household goods, loading in Berlin, the drive and unloading with furniture assembly in the new flat. In the centre of Pilsen some streets are narrow and parking is subject to charges – which is why we check the parking zone of your destination address in advance. This allows us to give you a realistic delivery window and a fixed price.

Pilsen (Plzeň): parking zones and access to your moving address
According to the city, Pilsen (Plzeň) has paid parking zones: A, B, C, D, F as well as Petrohrad and Roudná. For the removal van, what matters is which zone the address is in. You buy parking tickets at the machines or in the ParkSimply Plzeň and DoKapsy apps, also via QR code without installation. The apps allow you to extend remotely.
Further information from the city:
- The "R" card (residents) is intended for people not engaged in business who own property or live in the zone, and the "P" card for companies and organisations based or operating in the zone.
- Illegally parked vehicles are usually towed by the municipal police to the car park at Radčická 6 (information: 377 224 271).
The city does not mention a separate permit for moves on the parking page we checked. So clarify the parking space early with the city administration (contact centre +420 378 031 111) and give us your destination address; we check access during planning. The city publishes current restrictions at plzen.eu/doprava – as of 26 October 2026, for example, roadworks on Masarykova and Rokycanská. Pilsen: formalities and schedule from Berlin-Moabit
A long-distance move from Berlin to Pilsen is a move within the EU. The procedure for removal goods described on zoll.de (form 0350) applies to moves from a non-EU country into the EU, not to moves within the Union. On registration, Your Europe says: during the first three months, EU citizens may not be required to hold a residence document; after that, registration of residence may be necessary, usually at the town hall or with the local police. The registration certificate should cost no more than an identity card for nationals. Clarify detailed Czech deadlines with the authorities there.
During the journey, our drivers comply with the EU rules on driving and rest periods. According to Your Europe, they apply to goods vehicles over 3.5 tonnes:
- a maximum of 9 hours' driving per day, up to 10 hours twice a week
- a break of at least 45 minutes after 4.5 hours
- at least 11 hours' rest per day
The process consists of the survey, loading at the depot or your Berlin address, transport and unloading. We agree the delivery window in Pilsen with you and let you know in advance when the van is expected to arrive. You will find further planning tips in the article Long-distance move to Czechia: process and tips and under Mladá Boleslav.
