Clearance: Frequently Asked Questions

Moving company Berlin
Clearance: the most common questions up front
Answered in brief
Anyone planning a clearance usually has the same questions: what does it cost, how long does it take, do I need to be there, and where do leftover paint, old electrical appliances or the wardrobe end up? Here you will find twelve short answers. We clear flats, cellars, lofts and commercial premises, sorting on site between things you keep, recyclables and bulky waste. We agree the clearance date with you in advance so you know when the rooms will be free again.
Many questions come up under time pressure, for example when clearing a household after a death or when the end of a tenancy is drawing near. We give you the price as a fixed price after a survey; if the scope changes, we talk to you first. If you are moving at the same time, the clearance can be combined with a private move – then only what you really want to take is transported.

The answers in brief
The essentials at a glance
The key points first: the price of a clearance depends mainly on the quantity, the floor, access and the type of waste – which is why we only give it after a survey or based on photos. A normal flat is often cleared in a day. Paint, varnish and chemicals do not belong in bulky waste and are disposed of separately. You do not need to be present if access and arrangements have been settled beforehand. We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21).

What you can rely on
Behind almost every question about clearance lies a worry: costs that are too high, lost keepsakes, trouble with the landlord. We answer these with clear arrangements before anything is touched.

Keeping and passing on?
What happens to items that are meant to stay? If a wardrobe or a few boxes are going to relatives in another city, a shared load may be a good fit: the items travel on a lorry that is heading in that direction anyway. We check in advance whether there is a suitable trip.

Your
move, our craft
A clearance rarely comes on its own: it is often followed by a move, a renovation or the sale of the flat. If you are moving at the same time, you can combine both with a private move; for longer distances there are long-distance moves. We explain individual cases in more detail than in this overview in separate guides, for example on clearing a hoarder's flat.

Clearance: 12 questions, short answers
Process of a professional clearance
The process of a clearance begins with a free survey in which we assess the scope and effort. You then receive a binding fixed price, so no hidden costs arise. On the agreed date, our team clears the rooms completely, sorts out recyclables and disposes of everything properly.
On request, we also take care of the final broom-clean, so that the property is ready for handover. Especially with flat clearances on a tight schedule, this structured process provides security and predictability.
Typical situations for a clearance
A clearance is often needed when a household is dissolved after a death, for hoarders' flats or before a property is sold. In the case of evictions or when moving out of rented flats, a quick, professional clearance is often unavoidable too.
Businesses also benefit from our clearance service, for example when closing offices, warehouses or cellar rooms. In every situation, we ensure a discreet, respectful and punctual process.
