Senior Move
Senior move: pack in stages, arrive calmly
Process, costs, tips
A senior move is rarely just a transport. It often means moving from a large family flat to a smaller, low-barrier flat, into assisted living or a care home – and with it the question of what comes along. So plan in stages: first decide which furniture fits into the new flat, then sort things out, and pack last. A floor plan of the new rooms with the furniture drawn in helps more than any list, and relatives should be involved early. The more is decided before moving day, the calmer the day itself will be – for the person moving and for the family.
On moving day itself we take care of packing, transport and furniture assembly, so that the bed, armchair and familiar things are in their place on the first evening. On request we take furniture that is no longer needed away for disposal. After a survey you receive a fixed price. More about our service under Senior move; we answer questions by phone on 01625978461.

Survey, fixed price and a date without rush
Arrange a survey for the senior move – relatives are welcome to be present. We then give you a fixed price for packing, transport, assembly and disposal and plan moving day with breaks. If a grant from the long-term care insurance fund (Pflegekasse) is possible, submit the application before the move; for this you receive our quote in writing. Enquiries on 01625978461.
Quotes available individually based on workload, scheduling and the desired scope of services.

What we take on for a senior move
And what family and the care insurance fund clarify
We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and, for a senior move, take on the physical work: packing, carrying, transport and assembly in the new flat, plus disposal of what is not coming along on request. We plan the day with breaks so that nobody is rushed. What happens to heirlooms is decided by you and your family – we ask before anything is disposed of. We are liable for your goods under § 451e HGB at €620 per cubic metre; additional insurance is possible.

Tips for a calm moving day
A senior move goes better when moving day itself brings few surprises. These six points have proven their worth – from the floor plan to the first night in the new flat.
Floor plan first
Sort through memories
Apply for the grant beforehand
Medication to hand
Plan in breaks
Prepare the first night
Only a few pieces going to the children?
If only some furniture is moving – such as the favourite armchair and a wardrobe going to the children in another city – a shared load can be cheaper than a lorry of your own. The furniture then travels with other consignments on the same route, with a time window instead of a fixed delivery date.

From
sorting out to the first night
A senior move differs from a classic private move above all in pace: it needs more time for sorting out and more breaks on moving day. Often it is a move to a smaller flat, into assisted living or a care home, sometimes to the children in another city – for that we plan a long-distance move from Berlin. This guide explains the process, costs and grants step by step, so that the family knows early on what needs to be done when and who takes care of what.

Questions about senior moves
The process of a senior move in four stages
A well-planned senior move begins weeks before moving day: a talk with the family, the floor plan of the new flat, decisions about furniture and keepsakes. Then come the survey and the fixed price. If a grant from the care insurance fund is possible, submit the application now – before the move.
On moving day we pack, carry and transport, assemble the furniture in the new flat and take items for disposal away. It is good if the person moving does not spend the whole day among boxes but only arrives once the bed and armchair are in place.
Costs, care insurance and tax for a senior move
The costs of a senior move depend on volume, floor, distance and additional services; after the survey we give you a fixed price. With a recognised care level, the care insurance fund can subsidise measures to improve the living environment – up to €4,180 per measure (§ 40 (4) SGB XI). This can also include moving to a flat better suited to care; submit the application before the move.
In addition, the labour costs reduce income tax by 20%, up to a maximum of €4,000 a year (§ 35a EStG). Anyone receiving social assistance should clarify the costs with the social welfare office beforehand.
Price transparency with your moving company
Transparent prices with no hidden costs – that is our promise. For a 1-room flat you pay from €359, for 2 rooms from €579. A 3-room flat costs from €899, a 4-room flat from €1,344. For houses and villas we always prepare a personal quote because of the individual requirements. If you are moving further, you pay from €4.25 per kilometre for long-distance moves. The best way to find out your individual price is to arrange a free survey.
What does the price of your move depend on?
Key criteria are the moving volume, the distance (from €4.25/km) and the floor, with or without a lift. A reserved parking restriction zone ensures things run smoothly. If needed, we add furniture assembly or a shared load to your move.
