Moving to Kufstein: fortress town on the Inn
Living in the Lower Inn valley
Kufstein is an urban municipality in Tyrol, the administrative seat of the Kufstein district and, after Innsbruck, the second-largest town in the state. It lies on both banks of the Inn, right on the border with Bavaria, between its local mountain, the Pendling, and the Kaiser mountains; the fortress towers above the town. Besides the centre, it includes districts such as Sparchen, Weissach, Endach and Zell with Morsbach. For your home move we clarify in advance how close the lorry can get to your front door.
We come from Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and drive around 676 km via the A9, A8 and A93 to the border at Kiefersfelden; by lorry that is about 10.5 hours including breaks, so it is done with two drivers or an overnight stop. There is no customs duty on your household goods within the EU. After moving in, you register within three days at the registration office (Meldeamt) on Oberer Stadtplatz. We state the fixed price after a survey. More on the route in the long-distance moving guide for Kufstein.

Offers available individually, depending on effort, scheduling and the scope of services required.

What we handle for your move to Kufstein
From Berlin to the Lower Inn valley
We have no branch in Tyrol; we come by lorry from Berlin-Moabit. That is why we clarify access, floor and parking space in advance – the centre is cramped, and in the hillside districts the width of the street matters. We pack, carry, transport and reassemble; you take care of the registration form (Meldezettel) yourself. Our liability for your household goods is €620 per cubic metre under § 451e HGB, and additional insurance is available. If the new flat is not yet free, we store your belongings in Berlin in the meantime and deliver on the agreed date.

Well planned to Kufstein
We state the fixed price for your move to Kufstein after the survey – packing, transport, tolls, a second driver and assembly are listed in it as separate items. We answer frequently asked questions briefly and specifically below.
No customs within the EU
Registration in view
Arrival planned
Access sorted
Storage to bridge a gap
Return trip possible
Part load: move affordably
If you only want to bring a few pieces of furniture or boxes to Kufstein, it is best to ask about a part load: your belongings travel with other consignments on the route via the A9 and the Inn valley to Tyrol, and you only pay your share of the load space. The delivery day depends on the trip; for fixed dates there is the dedicated journey.

All
about moving to Kufstein
This guide shows which districts belong to Kufstein, how registration with the Meldezettel works and what to look out for regarding access and a parking space. The registration information comes from oesterreich.gv.at and the town of Kufstein. We do not quote rents, because they depend heavily on location and condition. How the journey from Berlin works with driving bans and the border is explained in the long-distance moving guide. We plan the return journey to Berlin in the same way. Additional services such as assembly, packing or storage are listed separately.

Frequently asked questions about moving to Kufstein
Kufstein at a glance: centre and districts
Kufstein lies at an altitude of around 500 m at the mouth of the Inn valley, on both banks of the Inn. The centre with the Stadtplatz lies below the fortress; the Festungsberg, Zellerberg and Kalvarienberg hills rise in the middle of the town. Other districts are Sparchen, Weissach, Endach and Zell with Morsbach. To the west rises the local mountain, the Pendling, and to the east the Kaiser mountains; part of the Kaisertal valley belongs to the municipal area. For the move, the name of the district matters less than access: how close can the lorry get to the front door, how wide is the street, is there a lift? Which area suits you depends on your commute, schools and budget.
Work, study and everyday life in Kufstein
We do not quote specific rents, because they depend heavily on location and condition; compare current listings on Austrian property portals. Kufstein is home to the FH Kufstein Tirol university of applied sciences, as well as retail, tourism and businesses in the Lower Inn valley; the proximity to Bavaria keeps cross-border journeys short. If you search early and are flexible about location, you will find a flat more easily. It is best to plan giving notice in Berlin, the Meldezettel within three days and, if applicable, the registration certificate (Anmeldebescheinigung) after three months backwards from moving-in day. If the flat is not yet free, we store your furniture in Berlin and deliver on the agreed date.

Moving to Kufstein: Meldezettel, registration and dealing with the authorities
Anyone moving from Germany to Kufstein must register their new residence in Austria. The oesterreich.gv.at portal explains that registering a residence online takes only a few minutes and the confirmation is available to download immediately. According to the portal, however, this requires an ID Austria or an EU Login, being of legal age and having been registered in Austria before. So if you are moving to Austria for the first time, you cannot use this online route and should contact the responsible local registration authority.
The portal also points out that registration has legal consequences, for example for vehicle registration, civil status records and the obligation to pay the ORF broadcasting fee. So plan the registration right at the start and keep your ID and tenancy agreement to hand. A registration certificate (Meldebestätigung) – proof of where and since when you have been registered – is offered by the Ministry of the Interior via bmi.gv.at as a paid service.
- Before the move: Gather your tenancy agreement or proof of purchase and a valid ID.
- On moving day: Note the key handover and moving-in date so that you can state the date correctly when registering.
- Afterwards: Complete the registration and keep the confirmation for your bank, employer and insurance.
Which deadlines and forms apply in individual cases is best clarified directly with the municipality of Kufstein via its official website kufstein.at or by phone. We plan the moving date so that you have enough time for these steps on moving-in day. You will find more information on our process on the home move page.
Kufstein: old town, Zell and Sparchen from a moving logistics perspective
For planning, the name of the district matters less than how close the lorry can get to the front door. For older buildings in Kufstein's old town, you should clarify in advance whether access is clear for a large vehicle, whether there are restrictions on delivery traffic and how long the carrying distance from the vehicle to the flat will be. The same applies to Zell and Sparchen, where street width, parking options and building entrances can look quite different from the town centre. We record these points during the survey or based on your photos and details, rather than estimating them.
- Stairwell: Width, turns and handrails determine whether bulky furniture can be carried or has to be dismantled.
- Lift: Tell us the dimensions of the car and doors so that we can plan boxes and furniture correctly.
- Parking space for the lorry: If there is not enough space in front of the building, talk to the town of Kufstein in good time about a solution for the loading and unloading zone.
- Date: Weekends and the turn of the month are in demand, so it pays to enquire early.
No-parking zones and parking rules are regulated locally. Whether and how you can apply for a clear loading area in Kufstein is something the town can tell you. How we organise such zones in general is described on our parking restriction zone page. For longer routes from Berlin, you will find details on the long-distance move page.
