Moving after work and on Saturdays: what works and what does not

Guide for working people · Part 4
Pack in the evenings, move on Saturday – how to move without a week of leave
Evenings and weekends
Many working people do not want to take leave for their move. That is possible – within limits: packing and preparation fit well into your evenings, and the actual moving day is best on a Saturday. Our fixed price after a survey applies to the agreed scope of services. You can read how we run a private move under private move.
On Sundays moves usually rest: lorries over 7.5 t may not carry goods commercially on Sundays and public holidays from midnight to 10 pm (§ 30 StVO, Road Traffic Regulations), and Sunday quiet in the building also speaks against it. For a long-distance move because of a job change, we therefore usually drive during the week or on Saturdays. We are based in Berlin – destinations with their own page under locations, long routes under long-distance moves.

How we spare your evenings
Clear time windows, a short moving day
Working people need clear time windows. That is why at the survey we agree when the team will arrive and roughly how long the move will take. With a fixed price after a survey and liability under the German Commercial Code (HGB), you know beforehand what to expect. If we pack the day before, your evenings stay free; on moving day we work briskly so that Saturday evening is yours. More on the private move under private move.

What works in the evenings and at the weekend
Not everything can be pushed into your evenings. These six points show what works well after work – and where you need to be considerate of neighbours, quiet hours and traffic rules.

Part load: collection while you work
If you are only moving a few pieces of furniture or boxes, you can use a part load. Collection can also be arranged on a weekday if a trusted person opens the door – you do not need to take time off for it. Your belongings are covered under the HGB.

Moving
outside working hours
The fourth part of our series is about moving after work and at the weekend: a survey in the evening, packing in stages, moving day on a Saturday and why Sunday is usually out. If you are changing city because of a new job, you will find information on long-distance moves under long-distance moves. For small amounts, a part load helps, which we can also collect on a weekday. And if you hand over packing and assembly, you often do not need a single day of leave for the whole move.

Frequently asked questions on moving in the evening and at the weekend
What fits into your evenings – and what does not
The biggest stress factor for working people is time. So divide the work by noise and effort: sorting out, packing, transferring contracts and photographing meter readings fit into your evenings. Dismantling furniture, drilling holes or carrying heavy boxes through the stairwell belong in the daytime, so that neighbours are not disturbed during the night-time quiet.
If you hand the packing service over to us, most of the evening work disappears. Then all that is left for you are personal items, documents and the laptop. With a fixed price after a survey, you know beforehand which services are included.
Saturday yes, Sunday rarely: moving day at the weekend
For moving companies, Saturday is a normal working day – and for working people the most popular moving day. Saturday dates are booked up correspondingly early. Moves rarely take place on Sundays: lorries over 7.5 t may not carry goods commercially on Sundays and public holidays from midnight to 10 pm (§ 30 (3) StVO), and Sunday quiet applies in the building. The article Moving at the weekend compares the pros and cons of both days.
For a long-distance move with a loading and an unloading day, it is worth using Friday for loading and unloading on Saturday. Enquire about available dates early; information on long routes can be found under long-distance moves.
The price of your move
How much will my move cost? We are happy to answer this question directly: we move 1-room flats from €354, 2-room flats from €615, 3-room flats from €909 and 4-room flats from €1,344. If you live in a house or villa, you receive an individual quote from us, as the effort varies greatly. If you are going further afield, we charge from €3.85 per kilometre for long-distance moves. It is best to clarify all details during a free survey.
Does Saturday cost more? The price factors
The moving price depends on the volume, the distance (from €3.85/km) and structural factors such as the floor and lift. A no-parking zone (Halteverbotszone) may also be needed. You can also use our furniture assembly or a part load.
