Long-distance move Berlin – Mladá Boleslav: Route Process & Schedule

From Berlin to Mladá Boleslav
Long-distance move to Mladá Boleslav – 374 km to the Škoda town
Guide
A move to Mladá Boleslav (Jungbunzlau) takes you to the Central Bohemian town on the Jizera, home of Škoda Auto and connected to Prague by the D10 motorway. Because the Czech Republic is part of the EU, there are no customs formalities for your household goods, and as a rule there are no checks at the internal Schengen border. More important are the driving day, the toll and the parking space at the destination. What we take care of for private moves is listed under Private move.
We come from Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and drive around 374 km via the A13 and A4, the B 178 to Zittau and, in the Czech Republic, via Liberec and the D10. By lorry that is about 5.5 hours including a break; with loading and unloading we usually plan two days. On Sundays a driving ban applies in Germany to lorries over 7.5 t. We quote the fixed price after the survey. Enquiries on 01625978461.

Move to Mladá Boleslav: survey first, then a fixed price
Volume, floor, route – all in the price
We do not calculate the price of your move to Mladá Boleslav by the hour, but by volume, floor, carrying distances and the route of around 374 km. After a survey you receive a written fixed price – for a flat in the old town just as for a house in Kosmonosy.
Offers available individually, depending on effort, scheduling and the scope of services required.

How your move to Mladá Boleslav works with us
Survey, fixed price, fixed date
We have no branch in Mladá Boleslav; we come by lorry from Berlin-Moabit (Stromstraße 21). That is why we ask about access, floor and staircase in advance – whether it is a flat in the old town or a house in Kosmonosy. The municipal parking regulation does not provide for a reserved space for the removal lorry; whether and how a parking space in front of the building is possible, we clarify early on with you and the town administration. For your belongings we are liable under § 451e HGB with €620 per cubic metre, and additional insurance is possible. Places with their own pages can be found under Locations.

Moving
service without compromise
A long-distance move to Mladá Boleslav is shorter than many domestic moves, but it has its own steps: deregistration in Berlin, ID for crossing the border, the toll for the lorry in the Czech Republic, a parking space at the destination and registration as an EU citizen after three months. This guide puts the steps in order – more about the town can be found in the Mladá Boleslav guide.

Common questions
No customs, but registration: formalities when moving to the Czech Republic
The Czech Republic is an EU member, so your belongings do not have to be declared at customs; an inventory list still helps with packing. In Berlin you deregister if you are not moving into a new home in Germany – within two weeks of moving out (§ 17 (2) BMG). In the Czech Republic, as an EU citizen you may stay for up to three months without a permit; after that you can apply for a registration certificate.
According to the Czech government portal, the certificate is free of charge and valid for ten years; the competent office is the Ministry of the Interior's Department for Asylum and Migration Policy for your residential district. Take your passport or ID card with you for the journey, as ID is required if temporary border checks are in place. Your EU driving licence remains valid.
Route, driving day and toll to the Jizera
The route runs via the A13 and the A4 towards Görlitz, along the B 178 to Zittau and, in the Czech Republic, via Liberec onto the D10 to Mladá Boleslav. With around 374 km and about 5.5 hours of driving time including a break, the driving time stays below the daily limit. In Germany, lorries over 7.5 t may not carry goods on Sundays and public holidays under § 30 StVO (Road Traffic Regulations) – so we plan a working day.
For cars up to 3.5 t, the Czech Republic requires an electronic vignette (eDalnice); for heavier vehicles an electronic distance-based toll applies. The town has grown together with the smaller Kosmonosy; the old town lies on the bank of the Jizera below the castle. We clarify the parking space at the destination with the town administration before the driving day.
Fair prices, clear figures
We believe in fairness and clarity: we move a 1-room flat from €369, a 2-room flat from €599. For 3 rooms the costs start from €884, for 4 rooms from €1,299. For a house or villa there is an individual quote, tailored to your situation. We charge long-distance moves from €3.85/km. The easiest way to clarify everything else is during a free survey.
What does the price of your move depend on?
Besides the pure volume of your household goods, it is above all the distance (from €3.85/km) that determines the total cost. Further factors are the floor of the flat and whether there is a lift. For a smooth process, a parking restriction zone is also recommended, which we are happy to organise for you – complemented by a part load or furniture assembly.

Berlin – Mladá Boleslav: Schengen border, ID and driving bans
Between Germany and the Czech Republic there is an internal Schengen border. According to the Czech Ministry of the Interior's information portal, no border checks are carried out at the common borders of the Schengen states, and a travel document is not required for crossing the border. Carry your passport or ID card with you anyway: if a Schengen state temporarily reintroduces internal border checks, ID is required. This applies to you and to everyone travelling with you.
On the German side, two rules apply to the removal lorry that affect the driving day:
- Under § 30 StVO, lorries over 7.5 t permissible total mass may not carry goods commercially on Sundays and public holidays from 0.00 to 10.00 pm. Removal traffic is not on the list of exceptions.
- According to the EU Commission, Regulation (EC) No 561/2006 limits daily driving time to 9 hours (10 twice a week), requires a 45-minute break after 4.5 hours at the latest and a daily rest period of at least 11 hours. A maximum of 56 hours of driving time is allowed per week, and a maximum of 90 in two weeks.
We clarify toll obligations, access and stopping options at the destination with you before the driving day is fixed. The overall process is described under International move; similar destinations are Prague and Pilsen.
Mladá Boleslav: residence and registration as an EU citizen
As an EU citizen you may stay in the Czech Republic for up to three months without a permit. According to the Ministry of the Interior, a travel document is sufficient for this, and for EU citizens an ID card too. Anyone living in the Czech Republic for longer than three months has the right to apply for a registration certificate (osvědčení o registraci). According to the Ministry of the Interior, the right of residence may only be restricted in serious and justified cases.
The EU website Your Europe describes registration after the first three months in general terms. After that, registration with the competent authority, often the town hall or police station, may be required. The documents always include a valid ID card or passport; employees also bring a certificate from their employer, self-employed people proof of their activity, and pensioners and students proof of sufficient health insurance cover. The registration certificate confirms your right to live in the country. Some countries also require you to report your arrival within the first three months. The certificate should be issued immediately, and its fee may not be higher than the price of an ID card for nationals. Anyone who fails to register can be fined, but cannot be expelled for this reason alone.
Which office is responsible in Mladá Boleslav and which deadlines apply can be found out from the local administration or at ipc.gov.cz. Further information can be found in the Mladá Boleslav moving guide.
