Calculating a long-distance move

Price per kilometre, extra items and fixed price on a long-distance move

Understanding the costs

Unsere Firma Professional on-site moving solutions with secure planning, flexible services and on-time execution.

On a long-distance move, the route accounts for a large part of the costs: diesel, tolls, the team's driving time and wear on the lorry rise with every kilometre. That is why we quote a price per kilometre – at Beste Umzug Unternehmen from €4.10/km. But the price per kilometre is only one building block: carrying, floors, packing and assembly are added. The end result is a fixed price that you know before the move. For home moves you can find more under Private move.

Before every long-distance move we record the distance, the volume and the conditions at both addresses, ideally during a survey. This shows how many movers, which lorry and how many days are needed. Only then can the fixed price be quoted reliably – a pure kilometre calculation over the phone remains an estimate. Places with their own pages can be found in the Locations overview.

Route, volume, floors – one fixed price

Call us on 01625978461 and give us the start and destination address, floors and a rough furniture list. From this we calculate the cost per kilometre and the other items, and after the survey we give you a fixed price. That way you know what the route will cost before the move.

Quotes available individually based on workload, scheduling and the desired scope of services.

TRANSPARENTLY CALCULATED

How the price for your long-distance move comes about

Four steps to a fixed price

We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21, Moabit) and calculate every long-distance move using the same building blocks: route, volume, effort at both addresses and additional services. The fixed price is in the quote before you book – for larger households after a survey. Our liability for your belongings follows the rules of the HGB; whether additional insurance makes sense is something we discuss in advance. Read more about the process under Long-distance move.

Measure the route

The basis is the actual road distance between the two addresses, not the straight-line distance. It determines the kilometre share and the number of travel days.

Record the volume

The furniture list or survey gives the moving volume in cubic metres – and with it the lorry size, number of movers and time for loading and unloading.

Check the addresses

We clarify the floor, lift, carrying distance and a possible parking restriction zone at the start and destination in advance, because they change the effort more than a few kilometres do.

Quote a fixed price

All items together make up the fixed price in the quote. Additional services such as a packing service or assembly are listed there separately so you can choose.
COSTS IN VIEW

What counts besides the kilometres

The cost per kilometre covers the journey. But whether your long-distance move at a fixed price turns out cheaper or more expensive is also decided by these six items – they appear in the quote alongside the route share.

01

Volume

More cubic metres mean a bigger lorry and more hands. If you sort things out before the move, you save on volume – and therefore on price.
02

Floors and distances

A fourth floor without a lift or a 40-metre walk across a courtyard costs time at both addresses. This goes into the fixed price, regardless of the route.
03

Travel days

Because of driving and rest times, a lorry can only cover a certain distance per day. If a second day is needed, the effort for team and vehicle rises.
04

Parking restriction

A parking restriction zone in front of both buildings shortens carrying distances. In Berlin the permit takes around four weeks, and signs must be up 72 hours in advance.
05

Additional services

Packing, furniture assembly, storage or disposal are not included in the price per kilometre and appear in the quote as separate items.
06

Fixed price in advance

Once the fixed price is set, the removal company bears the risk of traffic jams or extra time for the agreed scope – not you.
NATIONWIDE SERVICE

A shared load lowers the route share

Small move, small price

With a shared load, your belongings travel on a lorry that is heading in your direction anyway. The cost per kilometre is then shared between several customers. In return, we agree a time window instead of a fixed day – a good idea for small loads without time pressure.

move, our craft

Methodical and reliable

A long-distance move involves more than the journey: dates at both addresses, a parking restriction zone, packing and, for destinations abroad, questions about tolls and access. We advise you on this so that nothing is left to chance. Whether a fixed price or hourly billing suits you better is explained in the guide Fixed price or hourly rate. Destinations with their own pages can be found under Long-distance moving services and via the Locations.

Planning safe and relaxed

A good checklist coordinates dates, helpers and materials early. That way your home move, senior move or student move in Berlin stays transparent, structured and markedly easier to control.

Furniture, boxes, transport routes

With a suitable packing service, careful furniture transport and a flexible small transport, ways can be shortened, damage avoided and even narrow approaches in Berlin managed cleanly in logistical terms.

Costs, timing and special cases

Clear time windows and suitable solutions for an office move, company move, authority move, part load or furniture taxi create reliable processes and better plannable total costs in Berlin.

FAQ

Questions about price per kilometre and fixed price

Price per kilometre, travel days, shared loads and liability on a long-distance move – answered briefly.
The cost per kilometre for a long-distance move starts at around €4.10/km and depends on the distance, volume and additional services booked. On very long routes the price per kilometre often falls, as fixed costs such as the journey to you and staff are spread better. With our fixed-price model you know exactly what you will pay before signing the contract – with no hidden surcharges.

How a long-distance move at a fixed price works

It starts with a survey or a video call in which we record the volume, distance and conditions at both addresses. On this basis we prepare a binding fixed price for your long-distance move, covering the agreed services from packing to transport.

On moving day our team packs and loads, drives the route and reassembles at the destination. On long routes we plan the statutory breaks and, if necessary, a second travel day from the outset so that the arrival date is realistic.

Cost per kilometre: what you can expect

The cost per kilometre for a long-distance move starts with us from €4.10/km and depends on the volume, the length of the route and the additional services booked. It covers diesel, driving time and tolls – in Germany the lorry toll has applied from 3.5 t since July 2024. The longer the route, the lower the price per kilometre often turns out, as fixed costs such as loading and unloading are spread better.

A shared load can lower the cost per kilometre further, because several moves travel together. That way your long-distance move at a fixed price remains predictable even over long distances.
