Bremen on the Weser: 390 km from one city-state to the smallest

From city-state to city-state: your move to Bremen
All the way to the Weser
With a move from Berlin to Bremen you switch from one city-state to the smallest: the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen is the smallest German state by area. From Moabit it is around 390 km, first on the A2 past Magdeburg to Hanover, then north on the A7 and A27. After the survey you receive a fixed price without hidden costs, and we are liable for your furniture under the German Commercial Code.
Whether you are moving to the Weser or back to the Spree: we pack, drive and deliver on the agreed day. Our team wraps crockery and pictures, unpacks again at the destination and, on request, handles assembly and dismantling of the furniture. For the approx. 6-hour drive including the mandatory break we factor in loading and unloading and clarify in advance whether unloading takes place that evening or the next morning – depending on how many belongings are coming along.

What the move to the Weser demands
One team for the route between two city-states
The lorry starts in Berlin (Stromstraße 21, Moabit) and stops outside your new door in Bremen – in a period building in Schwachhausen, in the Neustadt on the left bank of the Weser or in Vegesack in the far north. The price is clear in advance: after the survey a fixed price applies, as long as the scope and addresses remain as discussed. We are liable for damage under the German Commercial Code (§ 451e HGB), and valuable items can be covered for more. And we drive from Berlin to Bremen just as we drive from Bremen back to Berlin.

Move
planning Berlin ↔ Bremen
A move from Berlin to Bremen needs a plan for packing, the drive and re-registration. We help you choose the day and apply for the parking restriction zones in both cities – in Berlin at the district office, in Bremen at the responsible road traffic authority. Bremen and Berlin in both directions
Why people go from the Spree to Bremen – and back again
A move from Berlin to Bremen often has work-related reasons: Bremen lies on both sides of the Weser, has always been a port and trading city and offers jobs in logistics, industry and the administration of a state of its own. Others move to study at the University of Bremen or at the private Constructor University in Grohn, which was called Jacobs University until 2022. Many families look for a calmer city with short distances. We accompany this move to Bremen with a team that plans the drive via the A2, A7 and A27 with a driving-time break.
The return move from Bremen to Berlin often follows the capital's larger job market or its cultural life. Others return after a few years in the Hanseatic city to family and friends or to their old neighbourhood. We organise this direction in the same way: survey in Bremen, fixed price, parking restriction via the Berlin district office and assembly in the new flat.
The route: A2 to Hanover, then the A7 and A27 to the Weser
The roughly 390 km begin in Moabit on the A100, AVUS and Berlin ring road. At the Werder interchange we join the A2, past Magdeburg and Braunschweig to the Hannover-Ost interchange. There the lorry turns north onto the A7, at the Walsrode interchange onto the A27, which leads past Verden and Achim to the Bremer Kreuz – which, contrary to common belief, still lies outside Bremen's city limits. A short stretch of the A1 takes us into the city. By lorry the drive takes approx. 6 hrs including the 45-minute break that is mandatory after four and a half hours of driving time (EU Regulation 561/2006); removal lorries over 3.5 t drive at a maximum of 80 km/h on the motorway.
Moving day starts early with loading at the moving-out address, two to four hours depending on volume. Then follows the drive with a break, then unloading and, on request, furniture assembly. Because that adds up to a long day, we decide during the survey whether unloading takes place the same evening or the next morning. For the return move to Berlin we drive the same route in reverse.
Arriving in Bremen and returning to Berlin
Anyone moving to Bremen will find neighbourhoods with their own character: around the Bürgerpark behind the main station – Germany's largest privately funded city park – lie Schwachhausen with many period buildings and Findorff. On the left bank of the Weser lies the Neustadt, the Überseestadt has been growing on the former port site since 2000, and Vegesack in Bremen-Nord was long a shipyard location. In the centre stand the Town Hall and the Roland, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004, with the Bremen Town Musicians in front. For each of these addresses we clarify access, parking space and carrying routes in advance so that the lorry does not have to search for long after around six hours on the road.
On your return to Berlin, the capital's neighbourhoods await again, from Prenzlauer Berg to Kreuzberg. The Berlin housing market requires more patience when searching, so we align the date flexibly with your flat handover and offer storage if needed. We are glad to support you with this move back to Berlin and apply for the parking restriction zone at the district office.
What the route to the Weser costs by household size
Whether you are moving to Bremen or from there back to Berlin: the price is determined mainly by how many belongings are coming along. These values help with a first assessment:
| Living situation | Volume approx. | Price from |
|---|---|---|
| Studio or shared-flat room | 10–15 m³ | from €350 |
| two rooms | 20–25 m³ | from €590 |
| three rooms | 30–40 m³ | from €890 |
| four rooms or maisonette | 45–60 m³ | from €1,290 |
| Bremen terraced house over several floors | from 60 m³ | Quote after appointment |
For the roughly 390 km from Moabit to the Weser the guide price starts from €1,510, there and back. It becomes binding after a free survey.
Volume, route, stairwell: the price factors for Bremen
First comes the volume, followed immediately by the route of around 390 km with a mandatory break. Then there are floor and lift – in a Bremen terraced house the belongings are often spread over several storeys – as well as furniture assembly and the loading zone. With only a few items, a part load saves money.
