TV computer and console: moving electronics safely in summer

Moving electronics
TV, PC and router: getting your tech safely through the heat
Arrive safely
Televisions, computers, games consoles and routers face a double challenge during a summer move: they are sensitive to knocks and do not cope well with standing for long in a heated-up van. Much of the damage is caused by small things – a screen that gets pressed while being carried, a laptop that lies in the car for hours, a cable that nobody can match up any more. At Beste Umzug Unternehmen we ask about sensitive technology during the survey and plan packing and loading order accordingly.
Flat-screen televisions are best transported upright and well padded; take laptops, tablets and external hard drives with you yourself. We quote the fixed price after the survey. Your belongings are covered by liability under the German Commercial Code (HGB) (§ 451e: €620 per m³), and additional insurance is possible for expensive technology. In the new flat: only connect devices once they have adjusted to room temperature.

Mention sensitive technology when you enquire
Large TV, PC or home cinema?
A large flat-screen TV, a gaming PC or a music system needs more padding and space during a move. Tell us about such devices when you enquire, and we will plan the packing, a place in the van away from the sunny side wall and enough time for carrying. Call us on 01625978461 – the quote is non-binding.
Offers available individually, depending on effort, scheduling and the scope of services required.

How we transport electronics
Padded and upright
In the removal van, electronics do not belong under heavy furniture or against the wall that the sun shines on all morning. We stand televisions upright and padded; computers and consoles go into sturdy boxes with enough filling material. If you still have the original packaging, use it. We load devices as late as possible and unload them early, so that they do not stand in the heat for long. We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and work at a fixed price after a survey – more on our packing service.

Load upright
Preparing your tech properly
With a little preparation, televisions, computers and routers arrive undamaged and work again on the first evening. These six steps help – whether you move with us or pack yourself.
Back up data first
Photograph cables
Use the original box
Carry TVs upright
Do not leave in the car
Room temperature first
Part load for individual devices
Is only a large TV or a music system going to another city? Then a part load may be suitable: the device travels on an existing route. Important: hand it over well packed and agree the delivery day in advance.

Tech
and heat
Electronic devices tolerate heat only within limits – the permissible storage temperature is usually stated in the operating instructions. Two situations are critical during a move: standing for long periods in a heated-up van or car, and the change between cool and warm air. If a device comes out of a cool cellar into warm, humid summer air, moisture can condense on it. So the rule is: wait first, then switch on. What batteries, power banks and other heat-sensitive items need is covered in the article Heat-sensitive belongings.

Questions about electronics in summer
Back up data, label cables, pack well
Before you dismantle a computer, back up your data – ideally to a medium that you transport separately from the computer. Photograph the backs of the TV, PC and music system and label the cables. Power supplies and remote controls go into labelled bags.
The original packaging protects devices best. Without it, sturdy boxes and plenty of padding help. A flat-screen TV is carried upright, held by the frame and never laid flat under boxes.
After arrival: wait first, then switch on
In summer, laptops, tablets and cameras do not stay in a parked car, because it gets very hot there quickly. In the removal van, electronics do not belong on the side the sun is shining on.
When a cool device comes into warm, humid air, moisture can condense on it. So only switch devices on once they have reached room temperature and are dry.
Moving costs at a glance
So that you can plan your move in a relaxed way, here are the key figures: 1-room flat from €344, 2-room flat from €605, 3-room flat from €879, 4-room flat from €1,299. For a house or villa you receive an individual quote; for long-distance moves we charge from €4.20/km. The first step is always a free survey.
These factors set the price
How much your move costs depends above all on the amount of household goods and the distance to be covered, which is charged at €4.20/km. Then there is the floor your flat is on and whether there is a lift. Setting up a no-parking zone (Halteverbotszone) also plays a role, as do additional services such as furniture assembly or a part load.
