Moving to Dessau-Roßlau: Costs Process & Districts

The city is divided into numerous districts with very different characters. The calculation takes into account the volume, the distance (from €4.15/km), the floor and whether there is a lift. A parking restriction zone is also factored in. In addition, we offer a part load.

If you are clearing out before the move, you order bulky waste collection in Dessau-Roßlau from the Stadtpflege (municipal services). According to stadtpflege.dessau-rosslau.de, you fill in the online form "Auftrag zur Sperrmüllentsorgung" (bulky waste disposal order). It asks, among other things, for contact details, household size, collection address and the number and type of items.

The Stadtpflege does not state a fixed lead time. According to its own information, it arranges the date with you promptly by phone or email; get in touch if you have heard nothing after 14 days. So order early, as soon as your moving date is set.

• Costs: according to the Stadtpflege, disposal is free of charge up to 1.0 m³ per person per year; above that, fees apply, the amount of which the page does not state.
• Accepted: household furniture such as sofas, beds, tables, wardrobes and mattresses.
• Excluded: among other things, building materials, glass furniture, sanitary ceramics, tyres and anything packed in boxes or bags.

Place the items unpacked and tidily by 07:00 on the collection day at the nearest public road that the vehicles can reach; this is permitted from 18:00 the evening before. Larger quantities, for example from a flat clearance, we take care of through our house clearance service. Note the quantity and type of furniture while you are clearing out, because that is exactly what the form asks for. The Stadtpflege does not take glass furniture; it is therefore better to include such items in the move or in disposal by us.

After moving in, you must register. Under § 17 (1) of the Federal Registration Act (Bundesmeldegesetz), this has to be done at the registration authority within two weeks of moving in (source: gesetze-im-internet.de). For this, the City of Dessau-Roßlau refers to the electronic residence registration (eWA) at wohnsitzanmeldung.gov.de and provides a PDF guide on service.dessau-rosslau.de. The page does not state which documents the registration authority requires in individual cases; clarify this with the city beforehand.

What this means for your move:
