Moving to Poland: what distance volume and tolls cost

Price and planning
Moving to Poland: what determines the price and how to plan
Distance, volume, schedule
What a move to Poland costs depends above all on the destination city: from Berlin-Moabit it is only around 152 road kilometres to Szczecin, 278 to Poznań, 350 to Wrocław, 579 to Warsaw and around 600 to Kraków. Then there are the volume, floors, carrying distance and the lorry toll in Poland. Within the EU no customs duties apply. We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and plan your long-distance move with one team – we quote the price as a fixed price after the survey.
Three dates matter for planning: the notice on your Berlin flat, the start of the tenancy in Poland and moving day itself, when the lorry must be able to stop at both addresses. Whether Warsaw, Kraków or Wrocław – access rules differ from city to city. You can find more about our services under Private move. For customs, registration and PESEL, read the article Moving to Poland: customs and formalities.

A fixed price for your move to Poland
Distance, tolls and working time in the quote
Call us on 01625978461 and tell us the destination city, floors and a list of the large pieces of furniture. After the survey you receive a fixed price for your move to Poland that includes distance, tolls and working time. That way you know what the move costs before you book.
Offers available individually, depending on effort, scheduling and the scope of services required.

How we calculate your move to Poland
A survey instead of an estimate
We calculate every move to Poland after a survey – on site in Berlin or by video. We record the volume, floors, lift, carrying distance and special items such as a piano or aquarium. For the route we include the kilometres to the destination address, the driving time with the statutory breaks and the electronic e-TOLL toll. We are liable for your belongings under the German Commercial Code (HGB); we discuss additional insurance for valuable items in advance. The result is a fixed price that applies for the same scope – with no extra charges on moving day.

What the price of your move to Poland includes
No customs duties apply to your household goods on a move within the EU such as to Poland. The price is therefore made up of labour, distance, tolls and materials – but keep an inventory list all the same.

How
to plan your move to Poland
On a move to Poland, three things above all affect the moving costs: the distance to the destination city, the volume and access at both addresses. Allow around eight weeks beforehand for the survey and quote, declutter before packing and find out whether a parking space is needed at the destination. After moving in comes registration by the 30th day and – if a car comes with you – vehicle registration within 30 days. That way you keep costs and dates under control.

Common questions
Distance as a price factor: from Szczecin to Kraków
The biggest difference in price lies in the destination city. From Berlin-Moabit it is around 152 km to Szczecin by road, 278 km to Poznań, 350 km to Wrocław, 514 km to Gdańsk, 579 km to Warsaw and 603 km to Kraków. A lorry can often manage Szczecin and Poznań including loading and unloading in one day; for Warsaw, Gdańsk or Kraków we usually plan two days because of driving-time rules. Because long-distance moving prices are calculated per kilometre, the route makes up a large part of the quote.
No customs duties or import charges apply to your household goods within the European Union. Costs do arise on the road, however: Poland charges an electronic toll (e-TOLL) for heavy lorries on the toll sections. If a car comes with you, registration in Poland costs, according to gov.pl, 66.50 zł for the registration certificate and stickers plus 80 zł for number plates. The papers you need are covered in the article on customs and formalities.
What volume, floors and extra services cost
Besides the distance, the volume, the floors, a lift and the carrying distance determine the price. Extra services such as packing, furniture assembly or storage are added if you book them. We do not quote a flat sum for a move to Poland – volumes and destination cities vary too much. The guide prices below serve as orientation; the binding figure is the fixed price after a survey. For small loads a part load is often worthwhile and lowers the costs considerably.
The process starts with a free survey or video consultation, followed by the quote. On moving day we pack, load and transport your belongings; at the destination we assemble the furniture on request and take the packing material away again. You can find more information about our routes under Long-distance moves.

From Berlin to Poland – and back
We are based in Berlin and plan every long-distance move from the start with route, breaks and access – to Poland as well as from Poland back to Berlin. You can find further destinations in the locations overview and under Long-distance moves.
Moving to Poland: e-TOLL and access in Warsaw and Kraków
The cost of a move from Berlin to Poland also depends on tolls and access rules in the destination area.
e-TOLL: The Polish system is aimed at users of heavy vehicles and covers the toll sections managed by the road authority GDDKiA. According to etoll.gov.pl, registration takes five steps: you choose an approved on-board unit (OBU or ZSL), open an online customer account (IKK), register users, vehicles and the location device, choose the payment type and pay for journeys using the chosen method. On 1 February 2026 the network was extended, with new rates. A vehicle classifier calculates the rate per kilometre.
Warsaw: The Strefa Czystego Transportu (clean transport zone) has applied since 1 July 2024 to most of Śródmieście, around 37 km². Since 1 January 2026, petrol vehicles older than 26 years or below Euro 3 and diesel vehicles older than 17 years or below Euro 5 have been excluded. Each vehicle may enter four times per calendar year; from the fifth time, according to Zarząd Dróg Miejskich, a fine of up to 500 złoty may be imposed. Permits from other cities or countries are not valid.
Kraków: For Stare Miasto and Kazimierz, the road authority ZDMK lists permits for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes, short-term for example for a move, with processing of up to five days and no fee. The notice dates from 2020; check the current situation. You can reach the customs page via the guide to customs and formalities.
Poland: parking restrictions, zameldowanie and PESEL after moving in
Whether and how you can get a parking restriction for the removal van is decided by each city. On the ‘Zezwolenia i identyfikatory’ page of the Warsaw road authority (ZDM), no permit for moves is listed; for information the page gives the citizens' hotline 19115 (MCK Warszawa). Clarify this for your destination city early on, before we fix the date bindingly.
After moving in, the registration requirement (zameldowanie) applies. According to gov.pl, you register at the municipal office within 30 days of moving in, either in person or online. Registration itself is free of charge. For an in-person visit you need:
- the completed registration form,
- an identity card or passport,
- proof of your right to the flat, such as a tenancy agreement or land register extract,
- if you are not the owner, the owner's written confirmation together with proof of their ownership.
If a required document cannot be provided, the municipality decides in an administrative procedure. A registration certificate for a temporary stay costs 17 złoty. For EU citizens, the City of Kraków states a deadline of 30 days for a stay of more than three months.
Anyone who registers and stays longer than 30 days receives the PESEL number automatically with registration, according to gov.pl. More on moving to Poland in the long-distance moving guide for Poland and in the checklist for moving to Poland.
