Boxes and room plan: how the team unloads even without you

Commuter guide, part 12
A box system that works without explanation
Number, colour, plan
On moving day you are asked all the time: where does this box go? Where should the shelf stand? For commuters who take a call in between or have to go to the office for a few hours, that is a problem. The solution is a box system that explains itself: every room in the new flat gets a number or colour, every box carries that number on two sides, and a note with the same number hangs on every door. That way the team can unload without having to look for you.
Add a simple room plan: a sketch of the new flat showing where the bed, wardrobe and desk should go. One copy hangs in the hallway, the team leader gets another. Boxes you need on the first evening are also marked “First”. At Beste Umzug Unternehmen we discuss the system during the survey and then give you a fixed price. More on the colour system in the article Labelling moving boxes.

Your system, our team – even if you are away briefly
Fixed price after a survey, room plan discussed together
Bring a sketch of the new flat to the survey or send it to us in advance. We discuss your box system, clarify what should be assembled first and then give you a fixed price. On moving day, a glance at the number and plan is then enough – even if you need to be reachable for work in between. Call us on 01625978461.
Offers available individually, depending on effort, scheduling and the scope of services required.

How we work with your box system
Number on the box, number on the door
A good box system saves more time on moving day than any shortcut. We work with your labelling: number or colour on the box, the same number on the door, room plan in the hallway. Questions are clarified with a fixed contact person who stays on site if you have to leave briefly. On request we bring labelled boxes or take over the packing completely. We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21, Moabit) and drive within the city and nationwide. We give you the fixed price after the survey; your belongings are covered by liability under the German Commercial Code (HGB).

How the box system works
A box system for commuters needs only six rules. If you stick to them when packing, the team can unload and assemble on moving day without asking questions.
Number the rooms
Label two sides
Mark “First”
Mark fragile items
Hang up a room plan
Keep a list
Part load: well labelled, safely delivered
If you only have a few pieces of furniture and boxes, you save with a part load (Beiladung): your belongings travel with other jobs. Label every box with your name and the room number. Because the tour has several stops, there is a time window instead of a fixed time.

Packing,
loading, unloading – with one system
A box system works in three places: when packing, because you go room by room; when loading, because “First” boxes go into the van last; and when unloading, because every box is carried straight to the right room. For commuters, this is the difference between a moving day on which they are constantly called over and one on which they can also take a phone call in between. With a long-distance move the system becomes even more important – more under Long-distance moves.

Frequently asked questions about boxes, room plans and moving day
Number the rooms, label the boxes
The box system starts in the new flat: give every room a number or colour – kitchen 1, bathroom 2, bedroom 3. On moving day, stick the number clearly visible on every door. When packing, write the same number on every box, plus the contents in keywords, on the top and one side. That way the labelling is readable even when boxes are stacked.
Mark boxes containing things for the first evening and the next working day with “First”, and fragile ones with “Fragile”. More ideas in the article Labelling moving boxes.
Room plan and contact person: when you have to leave briefly
A room plan is a simple sketch of the new flat showing where the large furniture goes. Hang it up in the hallway and give the team leader a copy. Keep a box list with number and contents yourself – if something is missing later, you will find it faster.
If you have to go to work for a few hours on moving day, appoint a trusted person on site and clarify keys and availability beforehand. How this works is explained in the article Moving while you work.
