An upright piano or a grand piano is far more than a heavy piece of furniture – it is an instrument with a delicate action, tensioned strings and often valuable veneer. An upright piano weighs roughly 170 to 270 kg depending on its size, yet stands on a narrow base and tips easily if it loses its balance on the stairs. This is exactly where the risk lies when friends carry it: nobody knows who lifts when, straps are missing, and one wrong tilt can damage the case, castors and floor – or injure a helper. At Beste Umzug Unternehmen we work with piano rollers, strap systems and padded blankets.
From the survey to setting it up at the destination, we plan every step in advance: stairwells, door widths and – if necessary – an external lift. We are liable for damage under the HGB, limited to €620 per cubic metre of loading space; for a valuable instrument we can discuss additional insurance on request. Anyone carrying it privately does not have this protection and has to settle any damage themselves. We handle the piano transport on its own or as part of your private move.

Friends can carry boxes – with a piano transport it gets difficult. The instrument has no handles, the weight is unevenly distributed, and on stairs every move has to be coordinated. We come with dollies, straps, stair trolleys and padded blankets, know the tight spots after the survey and plan for enough staff.
