Moving your home office: technology data and internet

Guide for working people · Part 12
Last dismantled, first connected
Home office without downtime
If you regularly work from home, your move also means moving your workspace. The desk should therefore be the last thing dismantled and the first thing set up again. Before the technology goes into boxes, back up your data and agree with the IT department how work devices should be transported. Most important of all, though, is the internet connection – it needs the longest lead time.
We transport monitors, printers and your office chair as part of your private move; it is best to take the laptop and charger with you yourself. We give you the fixed price after the survey. Your belongings are covered under the German Commercial Code (HGB); for expensive technology we recommend additional insurance. That way your workspace is back in place by the evening of moving day.

Fixed price after a survey, technology included
Call us on 01625978461 and tell us which devices are part of your home office. After the survey you receive a fixed-price quote and a fixed date – so you can inform your internet provider and employer in good time and plan the move.
Offers available individually, depending on effort, scheduling and the scope of services required.

So that you can get back to work quickly
Desk out last, in first
For working people with a home office, what counts is that the workspace is out of action for as short a time as possible. We load the desk, chair and monitors last and set them up first in the new flat. We set the moving date bindingly after the survey and give you the fixed price in advance. Your belongings are covered under the HGB. We have one location in Berlin-Moabit; destinations with their own page can be found under our locations.

How to keep your home office up and running
A home office move succeeds if data, devices and internet are sorted out beforehand. You should tick off these points before the move – ideally two to three weeks ahead, so that there is still time for a technician's appointment.

Technology,
data and connection
The twelfth part of our series Moving for working people is about the home office: how to back up data, transport work devices and have the internet connection moved in good time. If you sort out these three points early, you can work again the day after the move. If your job is moving to another city, read more under long-distance moves.

Frequently asked questions on moving your home office
Dismantle the workspace last, set it up first
If you work from home until the day before, the desk stays in place until the end. On your last working evening, pack cables, mouse and keyboard into a labelled box, back up your data and take the laptop and charger with you yourself. Monitors travel best in their original packaging or well padded and upright.
In the new flat the workspace is set up first: desk, chair, power strip. That way you can work the next morning, even if boxes are still standing around. You will find tips on setting up in the article A home office in your new home.
Internet at the new address: what § 60 TKG says
When you move, your provider must deliver the contracted service at your new place of residence without changing the contract term, if it offers the service there; it may charge a fee for this that does not exceed the price of a new connection (§ 60 TKG, Telecommunications Act). If it offers no connection at the new address, you can cancel with one month's notice.
So notify the provider of the move early – a technician's appointment is often needed. Until then a mobile hotspot helps. Also let your employer know in case you need to work in the office for a day or two.
What a home office move costs
Whether a 1-room flat from €359 or a 4-room flat from €1,344 – our prices are based on the actual effort. 2-room flats from €594 and 3-room flats from €894 are also fairly calculated. For houses and villas there is an individual quote; we charge long-distance moves from €4.20/km. Arrange your free survey today.
What sets the price
If you want to estimate the price of your move, you should take into account the volume, distance (from €4.20/km), floor and whether there is a lift. A no-parking zone (Halteverbotszone) can also cause additional costs. Extra services such as furniture assembly and a part load can be booked as options.
