Worms: imperial cathedral, World Heritage and wine
Districts, housing, offices
Worms is one of the oldest cities in Germany and today has around 86,900 residents. Worms Cathedral is one of the three Romanesque imperial cathedrals on the Rhine, and since 2021 Worms, together with Speyer and Mainz, has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage as a SchUM city. In 1521 Martin Luther defended his writings here at the Imperial Diet. With around 1,649 hectares of vineyards, Worms is also the largest wine-growing municipality in Rheinhessen.
For your private move to Worms we plan the parking spaces in the city centre as well as the approach to districts such as Pfeddersheim or Rheindürkheim. We are based in Berlin and operate nationwide – it is around 609 road kilometres to Worms, and the route is described on the page Moving Berlin – Worms. What we clarify before moving day in Worms
Parking spaces, date, registration
In Worms city centre some streets are narrow and parking space is limited, and special rules apply on the Marktplatz. The removal van usually needs a parking restriction zone (Halteverbotszone) from the traffic authority, which must be applied for in good time. We clarify these points with you before moving day. Planning, packing, transport and assembly come from a single source, and after the survey the price is set as a fixed price. Your belongings are covered with liability under the HGB (€620 per m³).

Worms
for newcomers
A move to Worms raises typical questions: which district suits your daily life, how does registration at the Bürgerrathaus (citizens’ town hall) work and where does the removal van park in the city centre? Nursery places and the commute to Mannheim or Mainz are also on many new residents’ minds. We advise you on the checklist, timetable and parking restriction so that your start in your new home goes smoothly.

The main station lies on the Mainz–Worms–Mannheim line, served every half hour by the S-Bahn RheinNeckar since 2018. Worms: parking in the city centre and the traffic authority on moving day
According to the City of Worms, two parking zones apply in the city centre: zone 1 (yellow sign) for the city centre and zone 2 (white sign) outside it. Charges apply Monday to Friday from 8 am to 8 pm and on Saturdays from 8 am to 7 pm. According to the city, parking on the Marktplatz is not permitted. As multi-storey car parks and car parks, the city names, among others, P3 “Am Dom” (Koehlstraße 7), the Kaiser Passage on Friedrichstraße and P5 “Am Theater” (Kriemhildenstraße 20). These are good alternatives for helpers and second vehicles.
The city does not mention a parking restriction for the removal van on its parking page. For questions about traffic regulations it refers to the road traffic affairs or traffic infrastructure and mobility department of the city administration; the traffic authority is named as the contact for “building sites, special use, posters, etc.”. So clarify directly with the city whether and how you can reserve a space there for the move, ideally several weeks before the date. The general number of the city administration is (0 62 41) 853-0.
If you need a residents’ parking permit, you can apply for it online or at the citizens’ service office by appointment. According to the city it costs €15 for one month, €180 for twelve months and €360 for 24 months. The prerequisite is that the vehicle registration certificate has already been changed to the new address. If needed, we take care of coordinating the parking restriction zone.
Worms: registering at the Bürgerrathaus, bulky waste and the Bobenheimer Straße recycling centre
If you move to Worms or move within the city, according to the city you must register your new address within two weeks. Registration is free of charge, but every missed month costs 5 euros, and a breach can be penalised as an administrative offence under § 54 BMG. The main citizens’ service office in the Bürgerrathaus (Folzstraße 5, 67547 Worms) is open Monday to Thursday 7.15 am to 12.00 noon and 1.00 to 4.00 pm, and Friday 7.15 am to 12.00 noon. Visits are by appointment only, which can be booked online or on (0 62 41) 853-0. According to the city, written or early registration is not possible; bring a printed landlord confirmation (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung).
The EBWO collects bulky waste once booked, online at hausrat.ebwo.de or by phone on 0 62 41 / 91 00-60. According to the EBWO, one collection every three months of up to 4 m³ is free of charge, and excess quantities up to 6 m³ cost extra. Household items may be put outside no earlier than one day before collection, separated into wood, residual waste and metal/electrical. Alternatively, the recycling centre (Bobenheimer Straße 1) accepts material Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4 pm and on Saturdays from 8 am to 12 noon, but “no deliveries by lorry”. For complete clearances we offer a house clearance. General information about the city can be found on Moving in Worms.
