LAST OUT, FIRST IN

Children's room

The children's room is the last to move out and the first to move in

Taking familiar things along

Unsere Firma Moving the children's room: sorting out toys, dismantling children's furniture, labelling boxes, transporting keepsakes safely.

For children, their own room is the safest place in the flat – so during a family move it should disappear for as short a time as possible. Pack it as the last room and have it set up again as the first at the new place. Children who help decide what to sort out and are allowed to paint their own boxes usually take the change more calmly – and find their things more quickly at the new place. What we take on for a private move can be found under Private move.

We dismantle the loft bed, wardrobe and shelves and reassemble them at the new place. Photo albums, children's drawings and jewellery, on the other hand, belong in your own car. We give you the fixed price after the survey; we are liable for transport damage under the German Commercial Code (HGB) (€620 per m³ of cargo space), and additional insurance is available on request. Call us on 01625978461 for no-obligation advice on planning your move.

CARE IN THE CHILDREN'S ROOM

How we move the children's room

Dismantling, transport, assembly

The children's room holds the most small parts: building blocks, a doll's house, craft work. We dismantle furniture, wrap it in blankets and reassemble it at the new place in the order you specify – usually the bed first. We are liable for transport damage under the German Commercial Code (HGB), and additional insurance is available on request; keepsakes are best transported yourself.

Packing service

We pack books, clothes and games; your child packs the box with the cuddly toy and favourite toys themselves, and it travels with you in the car.

Assembly service

We dismantle and reassemble the loft bed, bunk bed and wardrobe; screws and small parts go labelled into a bag attached to the piece of furniture.

Furniture transport

Children's furniture made of chipboard copes less well with being carried than solid wood; we pad the edges and carry large pieces dismantled.

No-parking zone

Short distances save time when carrying; in Berlin the signs for the no-parking zone must be up on the street at least 72 hours beforehand.
PACKING THE CHILDREN'S ROOM

Six rules for the children's room

With the children's room, it is less about volume than about familiarity. These six rules help your child settle in quickly after the move, find their things again by themselves and keep keepsakes intact.

01

Sort out together

Sort out toys with your child two to three weeks beforehand – whatever does not come along is given away, not secretly thrown out.
02

Pack last

The children's room stays usable for play until the day before; seasonal clothing and rarely used games go into the boxes first.
03

Label boxes

The child's name and the contents on every box, and a symbol or colour for younger children – then they can find their things again themselves.
04

Treasure box

The cuddly toy, night light, favourite book and pyjamas go in a separate box that travels with you in the car, not in the lorry.
05

Carry memories yourself

Photo albums, drawings and jewellery travel with you; for jewellery and certificates, the carrier's liability is only limited under § 451d HGB.
06

Set up first

At the new place the bed goes up first, then the shelf and play corner; fit anti-tip brackets for wardrobes and shelves straight after assembly.
SINGLE PIECES

Part load for children's furniture

Small, affordable, with a time window

A bunk bed from the cousins, a desk from your parents' home: for individual pieces of children's furniture, a part load is often worthwhile. Your piece of furniture travels on a route that is going in that direction anyway – without a dedicated trip and without a fixed day.

The children's room during the move

This part of the series takes the children's room through the move: from sorting things out together and packing the last boxes to dismantling the loft bed and wardrobe. There is also the question of how photo albums, children's drawings and other keepsakes arrive intact. At the end is the new room that your child helps to design – with a bed, a favourite spot and anti-tip brackets on the shelf and wardrobe.

Beforehand

Sort out toys together, pack seasonal clothing early, keep the children's room usable for play until the day before and prepare a treasure box for the first night.

Dismantling and transport

We dismantle the loft bed, wardrobe and shelves, pad the edges and carry large pieces dismantled; small parts travel labelled on the piece of furniture during furniture transport.

New room

Bed first, then the shelf and play corner; children can help decide where things go, and anti-tip brackets go on the wall straight after assembly.

FAQ

Questions about the children's room during the move

Packing, dismantling and keepsakes around the children's room.
Start planning the move early and involve your children in an age-appropriate way so that they can prepare for the change. Pack a separate box with favourite toys that is unpacked first. Professional support from Beste Umzug Unternehmen considerably reduces the organisational effort and leaves more time for your family.

Packing the children's room: last and together

The children's room is the last room to be packed. Start sorting things out two to three weeks beforehand – together with your child, because what they give away themselves they are less likely to miss later. Seasonal clothing and rarely used games go into boxes first, while favourite toys stay on the shelf until the end.

Your child packs the cuddly toy, night light, favourite book and pyjamas into a separate treasure box that travels with you in the car. At the new place we set up the bed first. How to plan the order is described in the article The children's room last and first; we answer questions on 01625978461.

Dismantling children's furniture, protecting memories

Loft beds, bunk beds and wardrobes are dismantled for transport. Photograph complicated furniture before dismantling it and keep the screws labelled on the piece of furniture. Furniture made of chipboard copes less well with repeated assembly and dismantling than solid wood – check when reassembling that all joints are secure.

Transport photo albums, children's drawings and jewellery yourself: for jewellery, money and certificates, the furniture carrier's liability is only limited under § 451d HGB, and memories cannot be replaced. This applies all the more on a long-distance move – more under Long-distance moves.

What influences the costs

The most important cost drivers include the volume of your household goods and the distance, which is charged from €3.85/km. The floor and lift also have an effect – without a lift the effort rises considerably. A no-parking zone can also be worthwhile. Lots of dismantled children's furniture also means more assembly time. In addition, we offer furniture assembly and a part load.

The children's room over a long distance

On a long-distance move, your child only sees their room again at the destination – which makes the treasure box in the car all the more important. We operate nationwide from Berlin (Stromstraße 21): destinations in the locations overview, more under Long-distance moves.

Always one step ahead.
