Packing furniture and electronics: moving your laptop monitor and shelving safely

Furniture and technology
Expensive items get packed properly first
Arrive intact
In a student room, the most valuable thing is often not the bed but the laptop, the monitor and the printer. These are exactly the items that break most easily during a move if they lie loose in a box. Packing technology in its original boxes or with thick padding and dismantling furniture beforehand saves space in the van and trouble afterwards. For a student move with us, we give you a fixed price after the survey.
On request, we dismantle shelving, desks and bed frames and reassemble them in your new room – find out more under furniture assembly. For damage during transport, our liability under the German Commercial Code (HGB) is up to €620 per m³ of removal goods (§ 451e); for expensive devices, additional insurance is available on request. Even so, it is best to carry your laptop and any hard drive with your coursework yourself.

Survey, fixed price, assembly on request
When you enquire, tell us which furniture needs dismantling and which devices are coming along. Call us on 01625978461: we survey your room, then give you a fixed price and bring the right tools for dismantling and assembly.
Offers available individually, depending on effort, scheduling and the scope of services required.

How we protect furniture and technology
Dismantled, padded, secured
We do not simply put furniture into the van: we dismantle whatever can be dismantled, wrap edges in blankets and secure the load with straps. Monitors and screens travel upright, heavy boxes at the bottom, light ones on top. On request, our packing service also packs crockery and technology. For transport damage, we are liable under the HGB (§ 451e: €620 per m³). We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and rated 5.0 on Google from 119 reviews.

How furniture and devices travel safely
Most transport damage is caused by loose parts and badly filled boxes. With these six rules, furniture and technology arrive intact.
Original box first
Bundle cables
Keep screws safe
Back up data first
Extra protection for glass
Heavy at the bottom
Part load for a desk and boxes
With a part load, your belongings travel on one load bed together with other jobs. That makes good packing even more important here: boxes closed and labelled, furniture dismantled, technology padded. Then a part load is worthwhile for a few pieces of furniture, even over a long distance.

Packing,
dismantling, loading safely
On a student move, the household is small but delicate: laptop, monitor, speakers, plants, a chipboard shelf. If you know how each item is packed, you need fewer boxes and end up with no scratches. You will find more tips on glass and crockery in the article Packing fragile items safely, and on dismantling in the article Dismantling and assembling furniture.

Frequently asked questions about packing furniture and technology
Packing furniture correctly on a student move
On a student move, packing decides whether furniture and electronics arrive intact. Books belong in small, sturdy boxes, a monitor and printer ideally in their original box or wrapped thickly in blankets. Clothes can be stored in vacuum bags to save space – this helps especially with a small van.
Dismantle shelving, desks and bed frames before transport; screws go into labelled bags that you tape to the furniture part. Label every box with its contents and destination room. For damage during transport, we are liable under the HGB for up to €620 per cubic metre (§ 451e); even so, you are better off carrying the laptop with your coursework yourself.
Saving on transport: helpers, boxes, part load
As a student, you can save in many places on your move without compromising on quality. Ask friends and fellow students early for help with packing and carrying; that saves the extra cost of staff. Used moving boxes from the supermarket or from neighbours are also an inexpensive alternative to new boxes.
Another money-saving tip is to use a part load for long-distance moves, which saves you hiring a whole van. Also compare different offers and look for a transparent fixed price without hidden extra costs. That way, more money is left over at the end for furnishing your new student digs.
