Moving Day: an Hour-by-Hour Schedule

D-Day
Moving day in fast motion: from the doorbell to the handover
Hour by hour
A smooth moving day begins days beforehand: the boxes are labelled, the parking restriction zone (Halteverbotszone) has been applied for and the signs are up – in Berlin at least 72 hours before the date. During the survey we determine how many helpers and which vehicle are needed and which furniture will be dismantled in advance. That way everyone in the team knows in the morning what to do, and a long day becomes a well-organised process with no idle time.
At Beste Umzug Unternehmen you have a dedicated contact person who agrees the schedule with you: when the team rings the bell, when the lift should be reserved and when the key handover at the old flat is due. Whether a private move or a commercial move – we quote the price as a fixed price after a survey, so that a narrow staircase on moving day does not turn into an hourly bill. That way you keep a transparent schedule.

Fixed price after a survey instead of timesheets
Predictable, even if the day takes longer
After the survey we quote you a fixed price that does not depend on how many hours moving day lasts in the end – as long as the scope and conditions match what we saw. That way you concentrate on the process rather than on the clock. Call us on 01625978461 and receive a no-obligation quote for your date.
Offers available individually, depending on effort, scheduling and the scope of services required.

How we time moving day
Clear roles, fixed order
Our team plans every moving day in fixed stages: first protecting floors and walkways, then furniture and boxes in the right order, and finally assembly and a joint walk-through. We are liable for your household goods under the German Commercial Code (HGB) (§ 451e: €620 per m³), and additional insurance is possible on request. We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and handle small flat moves as well as long-distance moves. We quote the fixed price after the survey.

What counts on moving day
Transport jewellery, cash, ID documents and tenancy papers yourself on moving day – under § 451d HGB a removal company is not liable for money, jewellery and certificates.
Punctual start
Protection before carrying
One contact person
Fixed order
Flexible when things go wrong
Joint walk-through
Just a few boxes? Part load
For smaller volumes we offer a part load: your household goods travel together with other jobs. Collection and delivery take place within an agreed time window – if you are handing over keys on the same day, plan for this. Liability is the same.

Before,
during, after
Besides moving day itself, other topics decide whether things go well: the right packing strategy, a suitable moving date, a parking restriction zone applied for in good time and, after moving in, registration at the registration office (Bürgeramt) within two weeks. You can read how to apply for the zone in our guide to the parking restriction zone. That way moving day itself is just a matter of carrying it out.

Questions about how moving day runs
Preparation: the last hours before the move
Before the moving helpers arrive, you should check all the boxes once more and keep important documents to hand. Make sure walkways are clear and the parking space for the removal van is reserved, ideally through a parking restriction zone whose signs must be in place in Berlin at least 72 hours beforehand.
A final walk through all the rooms is also worthwhile to discover forgotten items in cupboards or on the balcony. If you tick off these points in advance, you ensure a smooth start to the actual moving day.
The hour-by-hour schedule on moving day
An example for a 3-room flat within the same city: between 7:30 and 8:00 am our team arrives, lays down floor protection and secures furniture and boxes. Until about 10:00 am the removal van is loaded systematically – heavy items first, fragile pieces last, so that nothing shifts.
How long the drive takes depends on distance and traffic; this is followed by unloading and assembling the furniture according to your wishes. Around 3:00 to 4:00 pm, moving day usually ends with a joint walk-through. Note any visible damage immediately; hidden damage must be reported in text form no later than 14 days after delivery (§ 451f HGB).
